  • In this video we will be diving into the world of shamanic drums, exploring the differences between the goat skin shamanic drum and the cow skin drum. These two drums may seem similar at first, but upon closer inspection, you'll discover the unique qualities that set them apart.
We will be comparing the drums based on look, grain, density, pricing, country of manufacture, the beaters, the materials, tying methods, sound and more to help you decide which drum to purchase. In terms of density, goat skin is thinner and bouncier, while the cow hide is firm, strong, and thicker which affects the sound but also the durability. The goats hide drums are made in Indonesia and are slightly cheaper. The cows hide drums are more expensive for good reason, and are made in Pakistan.

Cowhide used for shamanic drums can vary-it's often rawhide due to its durability and resonance. However, some drum makers experiment with vegetable-tanned leather for a different tone. It's worth trying out, but rawhide is more traditional for its sound and responsiveness - Also, most vegan leather is made from plastic.
