    I was stubborn about getting one of these for a long time. I finally bit the bullet when I realized my diatom blooms were exhausting to keep in check. 0 TDS water solved that problem. Wish I got one sooner.

    I remember Jake Adams of Reefbuilders (R.I.P.) did a video once, where he briefly showed a method he was using with Colorado water (I believe it was Denver) where he used the sediment filter, and then either four or five carbon blocks in series, and that was it! No R/O membrane or D/I at all, if I remember correctly (I can't remember which video it was). He was getting excellent results, though...

      I remember that video. I think he was able to get away with that because he had relatively clean, albeit hard, well water. I also think that played a contributing factor in his success when he went a year without doing a water change in their nano tank. Still hard to believe that he's gone...

    Just got my 6 stage water-saver w booster pump, couldn't be happier! I'm not the handiest guy, but got it all together with a collection reservoir w float valve. I have the automated flush on order and look forward to installing that soon to make that process that much easier. I have always been reluctant to go the ro/di route because of the waste water ratios, but I'm getting 1:1 (slightly better in my little gallon jug test!) and should have pulled the trigger on this earlier! Great product!

      Do you mind explaining "Waste water ratios"? I need to get an RO-DI system. I'm a newbie. Thank you!

      @@rheljarrard9566 Sure, I'll do my best from my lay-hobbyist experience! These system incorporate RO (reverse osmosis) membranes that only let a limited amount of "filtered" water through, the rest is expelled, along with the contaminants blocked by the membranes, as waste water. Water saver systems employ multiple membranes, booster pumps, etc. to make them more efficient and to reduce the amount of waste water. A lot of factors can effect this, like your source water quality to begin with, water temp, etc. When I first started my research on RO/DI systems, a lot of "good" water to "waste" water ratios were as high as 1 gallon of good to 4 gallons of waste. That didn't sit well with me, so I opted for a more efficient (slightly more $$$) to reduce that amount of waste water. Hope this makes sense!

    • @rheljarrard9566
      @rheljarrard9566 Před 7 měsíci

      @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom Thank you so much! It pretty much made sense. I guess when you say "Expelled," I picture a system with a spigot and only one way for water to come out. Where does this waste water go?

    • @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom
      @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom Před 7 měsíci

      @@rheljarrard9566 the systems have two lines...the filtered "good" water goes to your reservoir, tub, bucket, tank, etc. The other line goes down the drain or some other storage device if you plan on using the water for your plants or lawn or I've even heard of people using it for laundry.

      @ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom Oh, that's good to know. I was planning on installing it where there is no drain. That wouldn't work at all now, would it? Lol. I sure appreciate the great information!

    Just ordered the 7 stage 200 GPD for my turtle tanks. They have the Black Friday sale going on early so I took advantage of the 35% sale.

    • @ThomasBReef
      @ThomasBReef Před rokem

      It's easy enough to add one on separately if you need it (and the booster pumps are there if you need one) otherwise you'd be wade'n through twice the number of RODI units on the site!
