    That sounds a lot bigger than a 317 cid engine! Narly man. My first car, '73 GT Vega. You don't see those cars anymore.

    I wish 9 seconds was still fast today. I can remember only dreaming about hitting 10s back in 1995, now my car in the garage that I daily rive clicks off a 10. Drag racing will always be too expensive.

      I had a set of the GM pre-bowtie 1970s technology angle plug turbo heads. No exaggeration, on a 406 SBC with a set of 350 5.7 rods, stock cast 400 crank, 850 Holley, .595" .615" 108 lobe seperation Herbert small base circle roller cam, flat top Keith Black pistons w/raised pin height, 14 to 1 compression, stock GM 4 bolt main 400 block and a Strip Dominator intake. I went through the traps @132 mph 7,200 rpms on a 9.95 et. The Camaro weighed 3250 lbs. That cheaply built 406 had over 600 horsepower. Based on ET and car weight. Turbo heads held it back. But they did a hell of a job for the only GM set of high performance heads available to the public at that time...

    The tail lights are wrong for a ‘77. It looks like a ‘71-‘73.

      Used A1 Converter and Mr. BEADI who I believed passed away from ATI was very interested in checking the inside of my Converters so I allowed him to cut them open and freshen them up. All good ATI were always helping me with different gadgets, awesome!

    A 1 minute burnout wont do shit if you dont have your 4 bars right. Probably lost 3/4 of a second.

    • @racer774
      @racer774 Před 5 lety +5

      Don Rutter - The track could have been improperly laid down and/or no prepping like we are used to at nicer facilities. Even with new slicks back in the earlier days (even in '92 such as this video), many normally good hooking cars would spin quite a bit out of the hole at two of the tracks on our Division 4 series. Now, both tracks have records set in certain classes because they are owned/operated by REAL racers instead of money grubbing leeches.
