- This is a 1977 Chevy Vega. It actually has a 77' front end and a 73' back end. It has turbo heads, 625 hp, Car weight 2110, Titanium engine valve, Bored out 60, 15:1 Compression, Roller Cam Shaft, 617 Dana 60 rear with spool, Aluminum Piston Rods, Cheetah Shifter, Power glide with aluminum drums super stock 1.94 first gear. Chevy Vega! Glenn
That sounds a lot bigger than a 317 cid engine! Narly man. My first car, '73 GT Vega. You don't see those cars anymore.
Thanks for posting time/speed.
love the way those small block chevrolet sound never gets old chevrolet racing
I wish 9 seconds was still fast today. I can remember only dreaming about hitting 10s back in 1995, now my car in the garage that I daily rive clicks off a 10. Drag racing will always be too expensive.
love them small blocks I had a 306 small block I left at 7800 and shifted at 9200 with a 2 speed lenko it would spin 11000 no problem
@Rayboogieman1 Its a 283 CI bored 60 with aluminum super rods, Jesel belt drive, titanium engine valves, and turbo cylinder heads. Any other questions feel free to ask, hope this helps!

I had a set of the GM pre-bowtie 1970s technology angle plug turbo heads. No exaggeration, on a 406 SBC with a set of 350 5.7 rods, stock cast 400 crank, 850 Holley, .595" .615" 108 lobe seperation Herbert small base circle roller cam, flat top Keith Black pistons w/raised pin height, 14 to 1 compression, stock GM 4 bolt main 400 block and a Strip Dominator intake. I went through the traps @132 mph 7,200 rpms on a 9.95 et. The Camaro weighed 3250 lbs. That cheaply built 406 had over 600 horsepower. Based on ET and car weight. Turbo heads held it back. But they did a hell of a job for the only GM set of high performance heads available to the public at that time...
I,ve been sitting on a set of Mickey Thompson small journal rod's for over thirty years ,,,,you want em' ?
I never get tried of watching other Vega drag cars,,, (I have three Vegas)lol
Small block roller motor, pretty sexy!
Complete beast mode
Hell yes!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm building a vega similar to that car but the engine is a 302 ,283+.125 over 14to1 compression has super rods also turbo heads too feedstock program with 2 660 center squatters converter is a coma that flashes to 8500 rpm on the brake 614 gears in a chevy 12 bolt car is a tube chassis gonna try for some low nine runs
The tail lights are wrong for a ‘77. It looks like a ‘71-‘73.
He said it was actually a '73 with a '77 front end.
77 front end 73 back end
It came from the Kennett Square PA area
Hell Yeah,
Love it.
I knew as soon as I read 7k rpm launch it would be nothing but tire spin all the way through the 60 ft at the very least.
top fuel uses alluminum rods 8000 hp
Bad ass !!!!
The lord giveth and the lord taketh away... enjoy
So I can be assumptive and say this is a built 305? Or 283? Or?
.60 over 283
283 your on!
D
all thst burnout for it to blow the tires off🤣🤣🤣
I feel no way tired yet
Who's converter did you use in the car at that time and is that vega with engine combo around ?
Used A1 Converter and Mr. BEADI who I believed passed away from ATI was very interested in checking the inside of my Converters so I allowed him to cut them open and freshen them up. All good ATI were always helping me with different gadgets, awesome!
Wtf 😳😳😳
wish*
A 1 minute burnout wont do shit if you dont have your 4 bars right. Probably lost 3/4 of a second.
Don Rutter - The track could have been improperly laid down and/or no prepping like we are used to at nicer facilities. Even with new slicks back in the earlier days (even in '92 such as this video), many normally good hooking cars would spin quite a bit out of the hole at two of the tracks on our Division 4 series. Now, both tracks have records set in certain classes because they are owned/operated by REAL racers instead of money grubbing leeches.
I know it was a cold December day and we were just having fun at the end of the season.
That wouldn't even get you out of the 1st round of a streetcar shootout nowadays.
Meh,Amateurs
15:1. Lol. Not a 77.
you don,t know race engines
Explain.
