- Previous Super Mario Odyssey any% record speedruns have been considered to be near perfect, but ever since the current longest standing any% record was set nearly half a year ago, this milestone shattering run might be one of the greatest speedruns of all time. Here's how the record fell so drastically after the historic sub-hour run.

The real question is... Should we be skeptical? Idk how long he's had an ACC or how long he's been practicing. For all I know it could've been some kind of TAS
If speedrunning history has taught me anything, it's that soon enough, we'll find a convoluted memory corruption glitch to beat the game in under 10 minutes.
To be fair, most big breaks happen years down the line with games. I think the only game break I can remember happening close to a games release was bitmagic in skyward sword, and that's only because it was discovered in a previous game. Perhaps with time we'll break odyssey too. (My money's on moon duplication of some sort. If there was a way to gain extra moons in a run it would decimate multiple categories)
SMW doesn't accept credits warp, so it's possible such a break wouldn't end up on the main leaderboard
@Ayan Sharma maybe, but as far as I know credits warp doesn't even have a speedrun.com entry. I didn't do any fact checking on that, so please, correct me if I'm wrong.
@@innertuber4049 if u take pokemon red/blue as an example, they have any% glitchless, any% no major glitches (small skips and time saves allowed), and any% glitched, where you can warp to the end almost instantly. This concept could be done with smo

It's not just about "your run is illegitimate due to your age" it's the fact that he's welcomed into and respected by the *community.* That's distinct from being allowed to be on the leaderboard. He's garnered the respect of his elders and I think that's cool. That's all.

I used to follow Odyssey speedrunning closely back in 2018 (and checked in with it occasionally until NicroVeda got his sub hour) so it was really cool to see an update on all the new tricks and runs since then - the fact that 2D skip skip exists blows my mind lol

Another thing worth noting is hey there cool, who’s PB is 59:25 is trying to... skip a 58 run and make his next PB a 57 minute time. He can probably do it and basically he’s grinding Individual kingdom ILs until he’s consistent enough. So he might just snatch the wr in a couple of months.

3D speedruns are simply better than 2D speedruns. There’s a whole other dimension for improvement and when it’s combined with being a Mario game, arguably perfect for speed running, you get something beautiful!

mitch surpassed tyron's 58:47 (which lasted 4 months) as the longest standing single wr and also surpassed tyron in terms of total overall days of having the wr for a total of 306 (untied) days with the 57:54.

I'm a fgc guy...but I keep finding myself watching speed running videos. I thought every community was lame and the fgc was the hardest to be good at (due to frame perfect punches crazy insane combos all while in the middle of a fight sometimes with thousands watching) all hail moment 37. Really if you don't know what moment 37 is and you like this kind of stuff go watch it 7-7 jump 4 frame perfect perry into a combo. But anyway I give this community props the fgc grinds out combos and stuff in training mode. But yall also have frame perfect hard af moves. This community rocks. From the saltest community on earth to the speed running yall are bad ass lol

I think it's hilarious that the wet nut jump in Bowser Kingdom was notoriously difficult, but Mitch's movement was tough enough that no one even tried it
