I have been doing the red light therapy bulb with Castor oil on my face every night before bed. I find the red light VERY calming (opposite of all that stimulating blue light from our phones and TVs, right??). While under the lamp, I meditate. Meditation does me so much good, but I often procrastinate because of "all the things I could be doing instead with that 20 minutes" (stupid excuses!). Anyway, pairing it with the red light has really justified it for me. It feels amazing to close my day with this doable-duty practice!

It may be as simple as the red light warms the oil and opens the skin just enough that it soaks in better than it was doing otherwise. Historically cultures who bathed and anointed with oil spent a lot of time under a bright sun; the combination of the light and the oil probably works together, we just don’t understand the science of it yet. Your skin does look brilliant, though, and I’m going to try this myself to see if I get similar results!

There's antidotal evidence now that castor oil and red light therapy are a great combo. Claudia Glows just did a video with the creator of Maysama who has done extensive research on the benefits + technology behind red light therapy. I think your original video is what led to her doing research on the efficacy of castor oil when combined with RLT. I can tell you that for me personally, it was your video and your results that led me to try it for myself and I'm a licensed professional!

Thank you for all the great info. I have been looking at these. I do own a small light weight panel that I love. However, I actually think this light may be stronger and a very helpful option. Anyhow, NOT trying to sell anything, but the 15" light I have been looking at comes with an adjustable tripod @ $69.99. It has a $15 off coupon which makes it very affordable and it has a 9ft cord. With the coupon it makes it $54.99.

    • @UhapiBeauty
      @UhapiBeauty  Před 3 měsíci +5

I did buy tanning goggles also in 2021 and used them for about a year and then I was like - wait a minute - the main area I’m trying to treat is around my eyes, so now I just lay there with my eyes closed.
And I’ll admit, it’s very bright for the first 30 seconds or so, but then it’s great. I always say it’s like sitting in the sun on a bright spring morning, so if you have seasonal depression or live in a climate that doesn’t get regular sunlight - you will absolutely love it.
Use your own discretion though. If you feel like you need em, use em. Also, you can use castor oil just on the areas you need it and avoid areas you don't. You can also skip the oil entirely! The RLT will do good work on its own. :)

I could turn on either one but today I used both (a switch to turn on both lights together). I had the light a little bit further away than you. I did 16 minutes and after that my face was slightly reddish, not much, just a bit.
Is that fine? Do you have this effect?
Do you perhaps know if its okay that both red light and infrared light are turned on while I do this?

Can you send me the brand name and model number of the lamp, if possible? I will do some research for you and let you know. Honestly, it's been so long since I started using RLT that I don't remember if I flushed at the beginning. My gut reaction though, is that I did not.
Usually, the red light has a specific nanometer (around 600 - 700) which works in conjunction with the near-infrared to penetrate. That is around 800 - 890 nm. I can't ever recall seeing one that was "either/or."

@@chickenfeathers9233 Ok, I just did some research. To me, it looks like a solid product! Some people who've purchased this (saw some comments on Reddit) say that they question its effectiveness due to the small number of lights. The majority though say that after 4 - 5 months of usage, they saw a huge difference in their skin.
Maybe try it tomorrow for 10 minutes instead of the full 16, like you mentioned. It could be that your skin is prone to flushing with near-infrared. That's not a bad thing.
Also, do you use skincare products or medications that could make you photosensitive? That could be a reason for flushing as well.

I tried it with my RL mask a few times but I feel like that my skin acts up on the next day. Maybe it’s too close!? Thanks anyway!

It really depends on the masks and the nanometers imo, but I've never been keen on the masks. Check the light to see if it's actually red or if it's a red coating also.

@@UhapiBeauty I have the omnilux mask so I know it is the real deal. I have been seeing amazing results with the mask alone but I thought I give your idea a try and see if it does anything for me. Apparently, my skin does better when used separately.

Only people who have overactive thyroids shouldn't use it. Red light is GREAT for hypothyroidism!

I'm not sure about that. I found this very interesting article though. France is using it to counteract cancer treatment side effects. www.france24.com/en/tv-shows/science/20240205-red-light-therapy-used-to-mitigate-side-effects-of-cancer-treatment

Heat lamps work. I used one for a good while. Beurer il 50. It's a better implementation than a bulb like she showed, because there's a fan, so you can get closer without burning your skin. For me, 30 cm. It's not true that it's specific wavelengths either. There's a spectrum that works. But the most common ones are 650/660 and 850. But those are not the only ones that work.

That model is only issued for sore muscles, blood flow. etc. It's not for the face/skincare and fine lines/wrinkles. I downloaded the user manual and it uses a Halogen light bulb. Those can cause cancer per this study - pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8944342/
Here is the link to the downloadable user manual on their website. www.shop-beurer.com/products/beurer-infrared-heat-lamp-il51
No doubt that is infrared, which is great for penetrating the skin, but only for aches and pains.

@@UhapiBeauty You made a blanket statement in the video, and that statement is wrong. Your clarification is better. I know of someone who used it for the face and felt she got benefits from it. But on the whole I agree the Beurer is not ideal for the face. As far cancer, it's also very watt hungry. I don't use mine anymore because I found something I like better and it costs a bit much. I would still use it under some circumstances, though.

@@annelisabethcom From everything I understand about RLT, it's LED diodes and very low levels of heat. Hot heat, just like a hot bath, isn't good for the skin and can cause damage over time.
Not to say that heat doesn't help skincare sink into the skin because it does, but true red light therapy uses LED lights and by nature, don't get hot.
I'm also assuming that's the blanket statement you meant. Sorry if I misunderstand.

@@UhapiBeauty Leds are a late comer to the party, so no, that's not «true RLT». Most research was done with laser. Laser works a little differently in that it goes straight through tissue, while led goes zig zag through. But red light is pretty hard to mess up from a technical standpoint, though you can mess up the application. I have some mini panels I bought cheaply while I was in Thailand. About the same price as your bulbs, which I also have tried. Those mini panels are much better, since they run off a power bank (there's a version with built in battery). No or close to no EMF. I recommend you check out Gembared for technical stuff and Alex Ferguson (if I remember the name correctly) for comparisons and reviews. No need to buy expensive stuff for the face or even the body unless you need a big, good panel. I don't like panels, because you either need an expensive stand or you need to stand in front of it. There are smaller ones that hage built in stands, though. Probably expensive in the US and UK, but there are AliExpress versions.
