    Shadow gifts are not received by killing the spirits. In fact, the sacred hunt rite takes all the essence that might have gone to the werewolf if they eat the spirits who gave them a shadow gift or rite due to the current hunt.

      That's my bad. The book talks about hunting Spirits in order to gain Gifts, but it required multiple readings for me to realize that these Hunts are specifically to receive the gift and not to kill the Spirit. So you hunt are technically hunting the Shadow Gift not the Spirit.

      We all make mistakes, I just despise those who pretend that they didn't when they did.

    Werewolf is not my type of game (for I'm not much connected to the idea of playing a berserker/barbarian) but I like this game, just not for me.
    Please keep doing this amazing work with CofD, I switched from WoD to CofD more than a decade ago and I've no regret, I love the CofD games, I think they're overall much better than the WoD games

    Nice work, very good game, i wish it was more known. It is really hard to find people willing to play if you don't have a rpg group already, that is usually not a problem for most people i think, but to a few people like me it is.

    So, NWoD (and CofD) is a massive mechanical improvement over OWoD. I haven't met anybody who would disagree about that, even amongst folks who only ever run OWoD. On the other hand, I find the concept behind Werewolf the Apocalypse (fighting a potentially losing battle to hold off the end of the world) significantly more interesting than supernatural border patrol. If I could think of a good way to incorporate the concept of WtA into the mechanics of WtF2e, I'd happily run it; unfortunately, that's more work than I'm currently willing to put in.
    Definitely looking forward to seeing how WtA 5e works out.

      I think you can get away with having WtA lore within WtF. I’m not sure to what extent it would take, but honestly I haven’t played WtF as spirit police. Mostly my players have been focused on building up their own territory and making sure it’s maintained. Most of the time that involves killing Campires, Spirits, and other territorial creatures.
      But yeah I think WtA 5e will look a lot better mechanically. Hopefully.

    I had a hard time getting a game started but it's fun. I mean I love the lore but my players just didn't get into it unfortunately. I'd love to play it honestly and see how others run it before trying it again. Maybe I will just GM it again this time players that are into it and well show them this.

      I ran a one shot for 3 of my friends with the concept of them restoring an area of the city called “No Wolf Land”. A place where no pack has claimed as territory and spirits have been running amok.
      They cleared out a nest of vampires and that gave them a movie theater as their Pack’s Den.

    so different from the werewolf the apocalypse, you can´t get 0 in harmony?

    • @AwkwardGMCorbin
      @AwkwardGMCorbin  Před 2 lety +2

      You can get to Harmony 0. Harmony 0 gives you 4 Bans, Passive Trigger for Death Rage (Most frequent trigger like Smell of Human Blood), and you can only be in Gauru form for only 1 turn before going into Death Rage.
      The lower you Harmony you also can Shapeshift more easily until you have to Change forms at least once per scene. In fact you have to spend Essence to avoid changing forms.

      @@AwkwardGMCorbin so you don´t lose the character but getting to 0 or 10 harmory is terrible?

    • @AwkwardGMCorbin
      @AwkwardGMCorbin  Před 2 lety +3

      @@kamudo999 Harmony is more of a balancing act than the other CofD game lines.
      The rules are spread out in regards to Harmony downsides, but you don’t appear to lose control of your character if they reach 0 or 10. But you do get limited hard. At 10 you can’t enter the Spirit World and at 0 you can’t enter the Mortal World. Passive Death Rage triggers are nasty and can make a PC unplayable if you get that high.
      At Harmony 9 or above you can’t transform with your clothes, they’ll get destroyed depending on the transformation.
