I wouldn't say James is the villain. I sympathised with his position immensely, and feel he was more just a tortured soul dealt the wrong cards in life.
He was put in lose/lose position. There was no way out that would have been untouched. He did what he perceived as a mercy kill and the guilt destroyed him.
@@A_CZcams_Commenter I think the whole idea of him being the villain is that he didn't do a mercy kill, but more like an egoist kill: he did it for himself.
@@sabrinacosta5667 And? You must have a very simplistic mind if you automatically equate murder with being a monster. Especially given James' circumstances.
I can't believe i have to say this but yeah James is the villain, even If he is consumed by guilt and grief his actions cannot be excused, even If mary was suffering plus was going to die anyway the best way to help her was just being by her side and giving her comfort NOT mercy killing her, is fine feeling empathy for James but honestly feels like people are giving excuses instead.
I agree. Honestly, people shouldn't take this video too seriously in my opinion. And it's not like James being the root of game's plot drama is something that happens only in SH2. In both Silent Hill Origins and Silent Hill Homecoming, the protagonists are the ones who's flaws brought misery to themselves and cannot remember that. Silent Hill series is mostly about seeking the way to absolution or solving problems from the past. Feeling empathy for these protagonists is natural because if we were on their place, not knowing what we have done in the past, we would act the same and think we are innocent. Ultimately, I'd say James has the benefit of the possibility and motivation to face his past and potentially choose the best possible option to save his and Mary's souls. Not many villains embrace their guilts and even less of them try their best to improve and become better people. This fact in itself already puts him above a standard villain and classifies him as a bit more greyish character morally.
@@ExpressedCreationshe's not "just troubled" he's not a kid that made a small mistake, he's a grown man who killed his wife with a pillow. He is not a villian nor a bad a person, but he is still selfish and a murderer. Is specially cruel considering she was going to die anyway and he couldn't wait until she eventually passed away on her own
Rule 34 artists when they find out that Heather is only 17: "I'll ignore that"
she's 17 yo and already a mother, wtf
The fact that, most of the slanders if not all of them are accurate terrifies me. 💀

True. If anything, he's the villain of his own story, just like any tortured soul ends up being.

Silent Hill IF fans explaining how it actually takes place in the same universe as Umineko, Higurashi, and Cyconia:
Suddenly, Frederica and Lambdadelta are the main antagonists of Silent Hill franchise, not the dog in a computer room.

What? Did I play a different game where James is the villain?
Maria ending
Exactly. Either ending, he's just troubled. I wouldn't even say he's a bad person. Just dealt the wrong cards.

When was James the villain?
