I used to get shoe trees from K&G for 12 bucks a pair but I bet they're cheaper online and yeah hypebeast sneakers don't last, I have to baby my Nike Silver Bullets😅
On the topic of smelly feet, to prevent it I use bicarbonate of soda. Some use it on the shoes, but I apply it directly on my feet after bathing. Before doing this, my feet would stink to high heavens whenever I took off my shoes but now I can wear boots in the middle of summer and not suffer from smelly feet (and I live in a desert country) Great video as always.
Nordstrom Rack has made in US cedar shoe trees for $16. I always add a pair to my chart when I'm just shy of the free shipping threshold. They also have a bundle deal if you buy them in store. Something like 2 pair for $28.
Did you say you were going to a video reviewing / recommending shoe cleaners/technique to clean such shoes? I think with more people buying such classic sneakers, most want to keep them clean, but don't know how or with which product. Product variety is huge. Do we use anything? or is there something we need to be looking out for? How to make your sneakers last part II? The shorter and sweet videos are gold !!
I bought two pairs of Greats (black with a white sole and all white) based on your review. Never had high quality sneakers before and I definitely love them.
Shoe Trees: I got 4 pair of Houndsbay trees... size "M" runs a bit small for my shoe size (10.5-11) so I'd recommend the "L" for those in that range but the trees themselves are great. Cedar ...they work. I also dropped the 50 bucks for a professional shoe stretcher also from Houndsbay...my new AceMarks are a bit tight in various spots and I am going to use it to stretch them to a more comfortable fit.
I don't have much problem maintaining the leather parts of my sneakers, but no matter what the quality/durability of the rubber, the sides of the soles are incredibly difficult to keep looking good.
Can you please do a review on the COS leather sneakers? I can see they are made in Portugal, but I have no idea how to find out what rubber is being used.
Crazy I have two cos all black leather sneakers at 89£ each one toecap chunky and one normal laceless wrap. Laceless I've had since 2017, toecap 2018. Definitely wore it a lot, nights out, work etc, cuz they were all black and didnt start using shoe trees until much later so the crease at the toe (non toecap) were annoying at first. With a great black polish now they add character. The rubber soles definitely I see wear in them going down, but once you have them in a rotation maybe twice or thrice a week, and a shoe tree and polish, mine are 3 years and still my favourite all black leather shoes/sneakers ever,(still get compliments 3 years later) they could use another 2years if I wear at my current pace. Will soon bring down the rotation to maybe once a week.
I have like 6 pairs for great sneakers and they are all full grain leather. Could you send me the link for all the conditioners and cleaners you have used on your greats? :)
Im confused. In the description you say "Leather conditioner (Saddle Soap is a great start)", however saddle soap is a claning product, at least acording to the hangerproject website. My question is, for leather sneakers do you need something like Saphir Renovateur to keep the leather hydrated ? or does cleaning with Saddle Soap is enough?
Great video! I live in Central America but travel a lot and buy almost everything online. In my country it’s very easy to find high quality or full grain leather sneakers and shoes handmade locally at great prices, but the bad thing is always the sole. That’s why I’ve never bought one... so the question is, if I decided to buy a leather sneaker locally, is there any way to “upgrade” the sole? Or because I can customize a sneaker, can I buy only the sole online and give it to the local manufacturer of the sneaker? Would it be worth it? Any ideas? Or should I stick to simply buy online, which I love doing?
For a haircut I recommend you go pretty short on the sides like a .5 or a 1, and cut off about .5” from the top since your hair is wavy, and having it long makes it go all over the place. Also go for a matte look, right now it looks oily. Use a paste and not a pomade.
Do you condition your white greats? I thought conditioner is supposed to darken leather. I just use lexol leather cleaner on mine and wipe with a rag, but some of the scuffs on the leather aren't coming out. Also I would recommend using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for the sole of the shoe if you want to keep it white.
Hello John, you're are stepping up the game with these videos. BTW, for the next video if you can supplement the quality content with some frames showing your crotch section and rear-end wearing some pouch underwear that you reviewed, that would be perfect. Cheers!
I’m interested in the greats sneakers (about a year off till I can afford them), but I was wondering if you think they could be dressed down? I’m a student at a university and wear casual stuff on a daily basis (jeans, t-shirt, hoodie etc.) and I’m worried that if I get these they’ll be too dressy for what I normally wear and what’s already in my closet
Please review axel arigatto shoes and sneakers by grenson. i keep looking for the greats in the Philippines, but the best of what i found are the shoes i mentioned above. Also, great content man! :)
I understand your position of getting a quality shoes and materials, but the design of the shoe is also very important, not just the quality materials. While common projects is overly priced, you can’t find a better design in the market.
Your presentation and delivery just keeps getting better. Keep it up man this is great
Thank you! Practice makes perfect 😁
Was more of a “how to buy sneakers that last forever” than an actual care guide (although you definitely had some of that too).

Great call! Something you can always use more of if you find them on sale too
TY for putting what you talked about in the conclusion of the video. It really helps when you sum up what was learned from the video!

Those sneakers are beautiful. Never knew about proper care until I watched this video. Thanks a lot for a great video.
I bought two pairs of Greats (black with a white sole and all white) based on your review. Never had high quality sneakers before and I definitely love them.
They should last you many seasons!!

How often should one clean and condition their shoes? Is it different for leather sneakers than for dress shoes, or same recipe for success?
This is the best sneaker video in CZcams. I wasn’t aware of magnum rubber or anything like that. Thanks, Jon.
Thank you!
Your voice is so soothing.
Can't wait for your shoe care videos !
Nordstorm rack usually has pretty decent deals on cedar shoe trees.
Putting that work in! Good advice

What products would you recommend to use on my white CP Achilles low? Just bought one and I wanna take care of this for the longest time
damn are stan smiths 40-50 bucks in US? they are around 100-120 euro in europe... not a cheap shoe
I have like 6 pairs for great sneakers and they are all full grain leather. Could you send me the link for all the conditioners and cleaners you have used on your greats? :)
Does putting black shoe polish on black koio sneakers and white polish on white sneakers help with longevity and care?
Have you tried the Paul Evans sneakers? I’m curious of what your take on them would be.
Thank you
What do you like to use to clean the rubber of the sneaker?
Im confused. In the description you say "Leather conditioner (Saddle Soap is a great start)", however saddle soap is a claning product, at least acording to the hangerproject website.
My question is, for leather sneakers do you need something like Saphir Renovateur to keep the leather hydrated ? or does cleaning with Saddle Soap is enough?
As I understood an actual conditioner is needed, Saphir would be great. Obviously don't use a color that doesn't match the sneakers.
What conditioner do you use?
Great vid. Your right so sad in 10 years hype beast with have crumbs in boxes.
Hey dude,
So is the white Saphir lotion okay to use on my black Greats? Or are the white lotion and cream only for white leather sneakers? 🤔🤔🤔

Yes should have mentioned that. Magic eraser on Margom soles is... magic
I think J Crew also have made in USA shoe trees

Not sure how I could shoehorn those shots into a video like this. Video has to serve the content!
@@The_Kavalier Ahhh I see :'( ....still something to think about!
I get shoe trees from Nordstrom Rack for $16 all day!
Ace Marks sneakers review coming?
I gotta get some shoe trees for my yeezys, lol they honestly feel like they are solid quality
Treat them well and they'll treat you well!
This kinda reminded me, it’d be nice if you did a GAT round up, from MM to all the usual suspects.
Yes, I want to do one of those + Wholecuts and a few other unique shoes. Great idea as always ;-)

Oh absolutely. I constantly wear mine with denim and t-shirts and you look dynamite. Should do a video on that,
The Kavalier thanks! Guess I’ll need to budget for it
Walker Morales Don’t forget to also refer a friend with their program and you can get $25 off your order too.
Walker, if you’re still budgeting I believe greats takes QuadPay now. You can basically pay for them on layaway with it.
Please review axel arigatto shoes and sneakers by grenson. i keep looking for the greats in the Philippines, but the best of what i found are the shoes i mentioned above.
Also, great content man! :)
Antonio Salazar hello just question. Where can you buy local store ph for axel arigatto or grenson sneaker leather. Thanks
Why is your mustache an orange color, different than your brown hair color? Do you dye your mustache orange?
No, my beard comes in very ginger while my hair is darker in the winter/when I have product in it. Good Q though
Wait hold on. What do you do with shoes if not in a box?
Do you need a shoe tree for each shoe
Yes they’re typically sold in pairs
Was that Tom Selleck?! Lol
Tome like !
When did Ron Swanson become so interested in sneakers?
The best compliment I could ever ask for
I can’t unsee how he used to look like knockoff donut operator
I dare you to skate In those shoes and see how long they last as an experiment

M A it's not a better design. It's just more aesthetic to SOME. But it's not a ground breaking superior sneaker design 🙄🙄
Can you remake this video without your mustache?
My tip make shoe's last for ever....don't wear them 😂
You would have a stronger look if you swapped your eyebrows with your moustache.
