Brilliant. They make it look so easy. My parents saw Ossian in 1975, the Davenport pub I think, and they have a signed copy of St Kildas Wedding, it’s been a huge album in my life, and my brother’s, such wonderful melody and spirit.

Yeah. Only discovered Ossian recently. Just fantastic, but realised locally how much they've impacted upon people's lives locally, and wider culturally. Great music - you always find something else special each time played.

Tony Cuffe's guitar parts were excellent, really fine playing. He typically took the melody, the bass and the chords in arrangements like this and his right hand was insanely talented.

Saw them in Boston in the 1980's, courtesy of an independent radio station that featured global music. So glad I was introduced to this wonderful band.

Thank you for posting these videos, this tune is probably my favorite Scottish tune and Ossian is in my opinion the best of the Scottish bands. I saw them in the States around about the time this was recorded.

+George Galiatsos - Hi George, glad to hear you're enjoying the clips. I have posted another 5, which shouldn't be too hard for you to find if you "search" on "Ossian" through my channel. I do have another clip or two of the band, but unfortunately they are on a VHS video tape which at the moment is unplayable. I have been meaning to find a company who might be able to repair it, and if / when I do, I will add those clips to the ones already here. Best wishes.

+DOUGLAS HADDEN Thanks Douglas for your swift reply........Yes, I've seen all your clips and thoroughly enjoyed them.....I've been a fan since the early 80's and had never seen a clip until you posted yours.......I am forever grateful to you for giving me such joy....Ossian is my favourite Scots Folk band...no other made such an impact on the Scots Folk revival...their arrangements, selection of tunes and songs, their masterful playing and Cuffe and Billy Ross' vocals are without comparison (Rod Paterson and Archie Fisher are on a par)...in my humble opinion that is......once again A BIG THANK YOU...and I hope you repair your old VRC the soonest !!!!!! Ha Ha!!!!

Hi - I've posted another 4 - 2 songs sung by Tony Cuffe, a set of pipe jigs, "The Duck / The Curlew", and a hornpipe called "Crossing The Minch". Shouldn't be too difficult to find them, and I'm sure you'll enjoy them as well. All the best.

thanks. I found those after I posted my question. sadly, that seems to be about it for live videos for this legendary band. the best one featured Billy's clarsach. I like Tony, but the original lineup was the best IMO. Iain's scottish pipes in the middle albums, as good as they were, disrupted the well integrated sound of the first 2 albums. the last album with the reformed band, The Carrying Stream, was a joyous return to the magic of the first two albums.

@@SkipWay The first Ossian album is a masterpiece - so raw, authentic and mysterious sounding. I really love Billy Ross's voice and some of the arrangements are minimalist masterpieces - Ae Fond Kiss for example.

@@jtpinnyc I agree about the first Ossian album and I would add the 2nd, St. Kilda Wedding--the last with the original lineup. Also the 7th and final one, The Carrying Stream, by the band that Billy Jackson, the excellent clarsach (Scottish harp) player reformed after he moved to the USA with Billy Ross again on lead vocals. *** This clip is by the lineup that made Dove Across the Water, which this air was on.
