Every GVR guitar I have ever played has been a brilliant guitar. From a 6000 dollar solista to a 2500 dollar estudio. Great great maker!

This was excellent and just what I needed. Sounds like 3-5K is the sweet spot for getting enough but not overspending (would be used in all likelihood).

Hey Mark, I'm ordering a double top guitar from Marcus Dominelli. I'm wondering if you are happy with the spruce/cedar double top. Did you find it too sprucey with the spruce on top? Would you get all cedar or cedar on top if you did it again? Thanks

Hi Matthew. Congratulations on your decision. I love the guitar, and although I have an idea of what too sprucey might sound like, I imagine that would be in the ear of the beholder. For what it's worth, I don't think that's a problem with the guitar. In addition, Marcus told me that people tend to hear a bit more of what they see, and he feels that which is on top or bottom doesn't really affect the sound. He recommended spruce on top because he thought it would look better with the walnut back and sides than Cedar would have. After a bit more than a year with the guitar, I think I'm closing in on which strings I prefer. The other nice thing (which I think I mentioned in the video, but can't remember) is that Marcus sends an extra saddle in case you want to raise the action. It sounds like most people don't, but I did and think it plays and sounds much better (though it's possible that my technique needs refining, and it has nothing to do with the saddle). Please let us know what you decide, and how you like it. Oh, and I forgot to ask which would you are choosing for back and sides (though my impression is that that's more important visually than musically).

@@markcohen8770 thanks so much for your reply. I'm pretty lost in the wilderness. I probably have another week or 2 to make my final wood selections (and everything else). Marcus is checking how much extra Koa would cost me in case I decide to go that way over walnut or Florida Rosewood. Yeah, I wonder how much difference it makes which wood is on top. Marcus now says the top wood has more of an influence, by I'm no connoisseur. I'm leaning toward spruce on top like yours, but I'm a little chicken that I'll find it too bright on a double top. But much more likely I'll never know the difference! I've been playing cedar so long, but I think I'll try a change. But Marcus could talk me into anything probably! Cheers

@@matthewdickson8631 I figured that Marcus would be way more qualified than me to choose this stuff. I initially was going for cedar on top with maple back & sides..Have fun!
