We dont really have bluegill here north of MN (as you know) but i do have a couple crappie lakes close to home. Ill have to try early ice crappie next year. Ive done mid winter basin fishing for them and late winter... this is cool guys!

Tungsten isn't heavy, its dense 😉. I know it takes forever to drop but the Northland Thumper jig (1/16) with 1" berkley gulp minnow is my crappie candy. They cant resist!

But not as dense as lead. Tungsten is No. 74 on the periodic table, Lead is No. 82. The smoothness of the finish and shape of the head and trailer is what makes it to drop faster or slower.

@@banjohappy atomic weight is not the same as density. Tungsten is 1.7 times more dense than lead because the atoms are closer together.

Enjoyed the content and tips. I will consider leech for slabs now, just a matter of finding them..
Good to see catch and release in depths less than 25 ft where Barotrauma is a reality.

That change in the bottom of solid to light is the distance in the ducer ls beam. The further out the lighter the bottom.

Why not use a loop knot to keep your jig horizontal
