  • The classic parachute games get a great upgrade with the FlagHouse Superchute! Use our SuperChute Grip parachutes just as you would any traditional parachute, to develop upper arms and shoulders with vigorous, fun exercises, games, and dances. The 1`` foam grips are safer than web handles and promote better grip skills.

For my preschoolers we do ring around the rosy clock wise with right hand, then counterclockwise with left hand.
I call it popcorn when we put items in the parachute, square foam blocks make resetting much quicker.
Also we do windy vs. breezy when shaking the chute.
    Kids' favorite is the tent.

aww i remember playing with one of these back when i was in elementary school. We played sharks and lifeguards. A couple kids would be the "lifeguards" while a couple were the "sharks" and the rest of us sat with our legs under the parachute shaking it and the sharks would crawl around to try to grab us and pull us under the parachute while the lifeguards had to run over and keep us from getting pulled under. I wonder if kids still play that or something similar.

      FlagHouse Activity Channel, thank you.
My ideas are below, with a brief explanation about each idea. I suggest if you use these ideas, you may want to use the rainbow colored Superchute, so it will be easy for the kids to see what they are doing.
      Ideas include:
      1. Mushroom- you guys actually did this one in the beginning of this video. Where everyone holds the edge of the parachute, lifts it up, then takes 2 or 3 steps forwards as the parachute forms a "mushroom" look before floating down. I suggest you don't step backwards when the parachute floats down, but let the parachute float down completely if you use this idea. Moving back can actually cause kids to trip on the parachute or become more tangled in it.
      2. Floating Cloud/Lift and Release- you guys did this at the end of the video. Everyone holding the edge of the parachute, then when it lifts into the air, you let go of it and let it float where ever it goes, then start over once the parachute has completely stopped falling.
      3. Under the Sea- For this one, everyone gets on their knees, holding the edges of the parachute while making the parachute flat on the ground. A kid goes under the parachute, while everyone -still on their knees- flaps the parachute up and down, creating waves, while the kid under the parachute "swims" to the middle of the parachute. If the parachute has a hole in the middle, I do not recommend the kid stick a body part - head, arm, ect.- into the hole since I could see that, with the flapping being a safety problem. Just have the student say "okay" or something when they reach the middle. After the kid makes it to the middle, everyone stops flapping the parachute. The kid can then stand up and try to get out from under the parachute on their own, unless adult help is needed. If you do this, use a mat to help the kid "swim" under the parachute so they don't get hurt while on the floor.
      4. Parachute Tag- For this game, everyone holds the parachute by it's edges. You all lift the parachute into the air, and let someone run under it to get to the other side. However, as the kid runs under the parachute, everyone quickly brings the parachute down to try and trap the kid under the parachute. If the kid makes it to the other side, you continue. If they get trapped under the parachute - where the parachute "tags" them- the kid goes back to their original spot.
      5. London Bridge- Although there are many versions, I found one that would be interesting to do. Everyone holds the edges of the parachute, while lifting it up and down, singing the song "London Bridge is Falling Down". Every time the parachute goes up, a kid runs under it -trying to get to the other side- before the parachute falls on them. However, when you get to the part "take the keys and lock her up" the group quickly lowers the parachute to try and "lock" whoever is going under the parachute. You then keep holding the parachute while the kid tries to get out from under the parachute. Once they are out, continue the song, or start over again, repeating the idea.
      6. Getting Out- The idea for this one, is for half of the people in the group to go under the parachute, while the other half holds the parachute. You count to 3, but after 3, the kids under the parachute have to try and get out, while the people outside, holding the edges of the parachute, try to make it so the kids don't escape from under the parachute. I suggest using a mat under the parachute for safety if you use this idea.
      7. Ghost Tag- a similar game to "Ghost in the Graveyard", the idea is to have a kid or kids - 1 to 3 or 4 kids- go under the parachute and pretend to be ghosts. As the "ghosts" walk around, they have to try and tag the people who are outside of the parachute. If the "ghost" tags you, you and the kid switch, so the person who got tagged becomes the new ghost. The "ghost" must have their head and arms covered by the parachute in order for a tag to count. No hands or arms sticking out. If the ghost's hand touches your hand while under the parachute, that is fine.
I hope this helps. Please reply back and let me know which of these ideas will work for your videos. Thank you.

When you use a blanket as a parachute how many people should be holding the blanket?

    • @ActivityChannelPE
      @ActivityChannelPE  Před 4 lety

On a standard blanket we'd recommend 4 people (1 per side) to be able to keep the plush toys in play for longer. You could get away with less people with a smaller blanket!
