Q: independence Mississippi
What school are these
@@ARCtrooper8248 it says HS in the title
@@Illiterate243 sorry MS as in the state Mississippi I just realized that could be an issue
Man it's nice seeing an HS that actually supports the band
Couldn’t relate we could spend our entire budget on one mallet
@@bruh-xb2uy sounds about right lol
@@bruh-xb2uy my school bought a Flugelhorn so :/
no cap
My high school has money to pay 10k for the football team alone but instead takes half the money in our fundraiser yet we still won state championships
You don't know HOW JEALOUS i am to be in a hs that actually supports their band. A great drumline can make all the school spirit.
I would've loved to have experiences like this in HS. At least I had a decent marching band.
Y’all have the same pfp lol
But yeah I’m pretty lucky to have a hs that cares about the band at all. I only wish our front ensembles wasn’t entirely Adams 🤢. Not even a decade old and everything is disintegrating
My HS experience is awesome because we have a band that is supported. This year we came in 9th in bands of america.
We have a really good marching band and a large drumline
Okay so I’m a school custodian. I have two observations. 1: that school is huge! 2: those hallways are waxed beautifully. Also, great job on the drums and congrats on going to states
This made my heart warm and face laugh and eyes sweat all at once. Such an observation on your behalf I feel if my type of professional work was involved I’d have noticed the same 😂 have a blessed day thank you for keeping the halls clean. Clean schools build moral
its not actually that huge we have like 12 high schools in our district so there are relatively on the smaller side lmao
@@sathie6083what are you on about tahst a huge school it has the mass of 3 Walmarts and is multistory
@@VapoHamilton my high school had about 2000 students, some have 8000. Just as my school was 4x bigger than some schools, there are still schools 4x larger than mine. Size is relative.
@@phillyphakename1255 my graduating class was 84 students, a lot of schools are huge to me.
I've never seen a marching band's snares not use traditional grip, but I've always waited for the time I finally saw one
it's fairly common in my district
At my high school our old band director told us that traditional is never used anymore, and we were all like “what??” Literally every professional marching band I’ve seen uses it. I’m hoping we start using it again now we have new directors.
It’s hella common in Texas
I feel like match grip would be a lot cleaner and easier to match
Mine doesn’t either
and i’m a 7th grader that gets made fun of for being in the high school marching band. this makes my heart so happy honestly. we work just as hard possibly even harder than some sports and get picked on for making music. a hs supporting the band makes me just amazed? at my school all the band members get made fun of because we’re different.

i feel you dude, I just joined HS marching band last year and the only one out of almost all of our audience that actually shows serious love and support is the head coach for football

HOW BIG IS INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL?! LIKE SERIOUSLY!!! HOW ARE Y'ALL ABLE TO GET TO CLASS ON TIME WITH SO MANY CORRIDORS, STAIRS, AND HALLS?! It makes my Alma Mater look small, but also less complicated.
Well when they realize how much they could get away with taxing everybody who lives in independence taxes went up around 1,200.00 pre household there roads are shit trafficlights are shit and not to mention its takes them over a year to repair less then 1 mile of road
wonderful drumming! im a kit drummer but im thinking about joining battery next year
do it bro, so much fun
do it, youll most likely be put on bass drum your first year but its still really fun
@@chinacheezit7021 My band was pretty small last year so I got put on quads
It's band not battery
@@geoffreymichaelrussell488 battery is the percussion section of a marching band
all of that was super clean! props to those quads players, those were some crazy arounds. But as a snare player, snare on top👊🏻. I'd say either traditional grip or not it would look and sound great still.
He started using traditional near the 6:29 or 6:30 mark at the very end
Im a 6th grader in beginning band and we cant do percussion till January 2023 and im so stoked to take that class and join the line next year. this is a amazing video!
Good luck mate, practice everyday, you got it
@@NicDunn Thanks man!
nice im an honors band clarinet player! :)
@@shiningdiamond6127 i also play clarinet and we have a concert tomorrow :)
@@shiningdiamond6127 Very nice!
big amount of respect to yall even playing in empty halls.
High school band taught me an important lesson, to do the right thing, to do your best, to keep going, even when no one is watching.
It has really been helpful as I transitioned to adult life, in all aspects of my life I try to be the best I can be to the people around me, whether they see that or not, I do good work whether my boss is looking or not, because it is the right thing to do.
Our band would play the school fight song during homecoming season just like this. Teachers hated it because everyone would just get up in the middle of class to go watch the band.
I'm 40 and this gave me flashback goosebumpa about our competition weekends. Nothing beats a powerhouse drumline
I remember when the middle school band would do this before our football games. Man it amped us up so much! We thought we were basically pro NFL players and roared onto the field that night like little lions. Man, I miss those days. This brought back so many good memories.
I played football in high school. We were terrible. But I swear we had the best drumline in the state of Texas. Our school came to watch the band, not us 😂😂😂
What school, if you don’t mind me asking?
😂you play against rebels?
Memorial?
A HS band is nothing without its snares! 🤘🏽👊🏽
Very nice, traditional grip would add another level
Our percussion director won’t let us 😔 he’s a bass player and doesn’t think it’s necessary
Don't worry this year we'll slip it in here and there
@@sethbuhler4264 same here but we are getting new directors so hopefully they let us
@@sethbuhler4264 damn that sucks traditional grip looks so much cleaner and if you want to go to a collage band like DCI or bluecoats in the future they only use traditional grip. You should really talk to your band director to make you guys do it
@@sethbuhler4264 everyone here is gonna tell me I'm wrong but thats fine, y'all don't have to be right. In reality it isn't necessary. While it may be true it's best to learn to march dci or college it isn't necessary from a technical standpoint. In reality traditional grip was adapted to flat snares for the look. In competition a judge will never judge on whether or not you're using traditional. In conclusion to this exhausting paragraph, traditional is not necessary, in any case I would always advise a high school percussion director against implementing traditional if there isn't any prior experience within the line with it. it is always better to be clean than look cool.
sorry for the paragraph lmao
thats the calmest group of high school students ive ever seen
as a bass 1, i really love seeing other schools play bubbles :)
Bubbles brother
@@NicDunn absolutely right!!!
Man this video makes me miss drumline so much. I was in a small school outside Cleveland Ohio. 4 snares 2 quads 4 basses an 2 cymbals. But gawd dayum when we would start off with our march out cadence the school would go nuts during pep rallys and even games. Thankful to have been apart of a great band/drumline those almost 20 years ago. Our band would dance to a few of our cadences and everyone loved it! This video got so many likes because it's great to see everyone supporting them but also it brings back great memories for alot of us as well! Makes me wanna pick up a marching snare again!
Ah this made me go through my memories of being in marching band, I didn’t think I’d miss it this much. We also went around downtown and in the mayors office, basically our own personal parade chaperoned by the percussion instructor and someone’s dad. We had the Foot ball HoF parade, our rival parade, several band competitions even one hosted in the horseshoe! My highschool actually got mistaken for a college because of how large the campus was. The stadiums max capacity is 16,000 but it’s easily 20 during rival week and we have an in door complex too! Which actually made me mad because we were lucky to have practice in it during the summer and for the most part practiced on a 100 yard asphalt parking lot…still good times
Hey dude! this was such an awesome video to watch! if you dont mind me asking, what cadences/pieces were played in the video?
some of em are on here, one we don't have written down drive.google.com/file/d/1WTaq3jgAiJjo9T-XOjjwoRzVPcc8jUMg/view?usp=sharing
@@NicDunn thanks so much :)
@@NicDunnis there bass music on there? I’m bass 3
Dam glad too see high schools are still supporting drummers and bands keep up the great work
My drumline was different that we had a piano, guitar, bass guitar, drum set, speakers, and a microphone and the songs we played are all Sabaton songs that in the morning we play Red Baron an for nutrition we played Bismarck and for lunch we played Ghost Division and we do it every week playing different songs that
Monday gets: Swedish Pagans, Defense of Moscow, and Christmas Truce
Tuesday gets: Winged Hussars, Primo Victoria, and Steel Commanders
Wednesday gets: Red Baron, Bismarck, and Ghost Division
Thursday gets: Ballad of Bull, Dreadnought, and Panzerkampf
Friday Gets: No Bullets Fly, The Last Stand, and Resist and Bite
Saturday gets: Twilight Of The Thunder God, Attack Of The Dead Men, and Carolus Rex
Sunday gets: Night Witches, Lady Of The Dark, and Hell and Back
And yes we mix the songs on the next weekend
No mistakes 💪
We have the same snare drums in our school
We’re those eighth note 5lets at 2:17 ?
dope!

I graduated in 2017 I actually miss seeing this in school and standing in the hall watching it go by
Dude stick with it; truly brings a tear when you see honest dedication. And by the way; we are always our own worst critic. It's belief in one's self that drives. You are an awesome drummer. And this is a compliment from a DJ.
Unless this is some other Independence HS, I just wanna say seeing you guys perform is great! Always blow me and others in my HS’ marching band away. Keep being awesome!!
I can watch this for days, the same video. It is just perplexing, relaxing, epic, soothing and simply epic.
That High School really supports their drumline. Awesome.
coming from a snare player this is sick!
Snare brotha 🤘
Longest 7 minutes I thoroughly enjoyed, well done
Only a few passed the vibe!!! You all sounded great!❤
❤🎉 MAN this reminds me of being in the band back in the day. I was the only girl on my drum line and ALWAYS made first chair. For those who ain't know. The band ain't NOTHIN without the PERCUSSION! 🔥 🥁 🔥
That roll @ 3:54 sounds like a CIWS and I love it!
Cleanest thing I’ve ever seen I’ve come from a school that does not like band seeing all this I’m jealous that was some amazing playing even if it wasn’t your best your THE best
i thought this was recommend to me because i attended back in like 2017.. but this actually blew up!! good stuff
Honestly battery is one of the cooler parts of marching band or band in general.
Aw man, I used to be in drum line till I was kicked out of school for living in a different district. It was the first day of band camp when my mom got the call, I was one of the snares so this makes me nostalgic. One of the best feelings was state sendoffs and marching in the field during pregame and halftime.
I just started playing 4 months ago, and this definitely encouraged me to keep going! You guys are awesome 👏
Check out some of my other cams, this is only a small part of what we play. Keep practicing and have fun
As someone who also plays the snare drum in band, this is a masterpiece
i wish our school did this! My brother was on tenors in drum line i played clarinet and going to state each year was awesome i had a great ensemble.
*_Dear Band kids,_*
*Dont be weird… just be weird in band.*
Imagine just walking into a school playin those things, I would feel powerful
good way to describe it, ya
Now I just want to learn a snare...
do it, tons of books to learn from and all you need is a pair of sticks and a pad
Just found this video, dunno if your still there but I saw your show for 2022, I was really impressed with what I saw and I could tell y’all worked your butt off for this years show, huge props to you!
-a former student from the same district
Man, that high school is way bigger than mine was. I play clarinet and always have since 4th grade. I’m honestly surprised that no one had mad fun of any of the band kids throughout middle school, high school, and even college. I guess I lived in a good place?
Damn bro I never thought I'd be watching a guy play drums while walking through school but man I'm glad I came across this video
Man this guy is underrated 😮
Awesome 🔥
Never thought I would see people supporting drummers
Это потрясающее представление! Захотел научиться ритмично играть на барабане желаю вашей группе процветания с любовью из России
Спасибо, никогда не поздно научиться играть на барабанах. Способов много, просто тренируйтесь и у вас все получится
As a beatboxer, I enjoyer this very much to the point that I just want more snares.
Yes fr I love this shit
This year was my first year ever playing drums. I'm a snare in my drum line and before that I was an alto sax player. So I'm not very good yet but I watch's these because they are very cool and I wish my HS could do these.
keep practicing, you'll get there
This reminds me of a pov playing a Drum in the hallway in school
Wish my school appreciated our band like this
Jesus, that high-school was bigger than my college...
Oh, how I would have liked to hear what this sounded like in the hallways!
my high school did this too except all the seniors followed from behind while the juniors and below cheered...sucks I never experienced it
Me: wow this looks a lot like the high school my friends went to
Me realizing it probably is
people in the comments are saying "its amazing to see such support for their school band!". They aren't their for the band kids, theirs a whole line of football players, basketball, dance team, or any other sport team behind them walking.
maybe that's your school but it could be different lol you don't have to make it seem like everything is better than band 💀
@@dayshiftatfools.1443 this was for state send off basically we had to line up outside our classrooms and cheer for the ppl who made it to state clubs, athletics, etc. the drumline leads
Some parts are Skyliners Alumni music but still very impressive that they can even play it.
Not gonna lie being high asf and listening to this is the best thing ever
glad you enjoyed
6:38 this goes hard!
Just watching bands make me hyped
Honestly Bro/Bradyan Freeman I don’t agree, I strongly agree! 🤣🤣🤣
I love being in drumline and marching in the hallways.
My HS finally has a band and my director is thinking of having drumlinr
Glad your director isn't forcing traditional. I'd much rather see a good matched than a horrible traditional.
I kinda wish he did because I like traditional but ya, we’re pretty clean most of time with matched
Thats what practice is for
Yeah traditional does seem quite hard but it looks cool but still good in the vid using matched
Sucks for students who want to pursue music outside of high school. But I guess the determined make it happen
I'm thoroughly of the opinion traditional is dumb. It is trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist anymore.
Bro it feels so weird that they are playing in match grip
Ya, it’s normal for my district but I do wish we could do traditional
This was sick. In wish I joined the band in high school lol. Instead I was a soccer star
Came looking for some good music, and CZcams recommendations blessed me with this video
absolute banger of a video, i wish other students would respect percussionists as much as they do you guys. Im personally a drum, set player and haveing experienced marching band, I can tell you that I'll never get to do something as cool as that ever.
00.25 to 00.55 ,,, maan i love that part🤩
Wish the uk had something like this
Как же я хочу в американскую школу🥲
Perfection
Bonsoir je connaisser merci c'est excellent 🥰✌
I’m a kit player but this is sick! Looks like fun
This brings back so many good memories, drumline will always have a place in my soul, I miss it dearly
3:38 teacher was feeling it
The Fact that your school puts in so much effort just for state lmao. My school constantly has teams going to state like our surf team (beach city) which has won state like every year except for like two since like the 1970s and almost all of our other sports go to state a lot as well. But still the only thing my school puts effort into and talks about is football. Like literally every other sport could straight up win nationals the same year and my school would be like "and a special congratulations to all of our football players who lost by 50 points in last weeks game. "
My high school is almost in a similar position, but we really don't have any notable teams (that I've heard of) but our band placed 3rd in nationals and still people only care about football
I’ve waited for years to be on drum line and I got bass 3 this year! I’m super excited, but the harness that I had for a bit is broken and it made my back hurt so bad 😭. This is crazy I love marching band so much. Great job bro
Nice. Ya get that carrier fixed, if it doesn’t fit right you could have some real back problems later. Keep practicing my guy
Why didn’t my high school do this? This would have been great.
Nice count off at 1:40 🤡🤡🤡🤡

on gawd
That high-school has more people in it than the entire village I grew up in
Dude you bring back so many memories man! I was a drummer in highschool
That's how you know you got a awesome HS Drumline behind you! Awesome beats.
Man this brought back memories of doing this stuff in the 90s. Those hallways are deafening and you always obviously went for max volume for impact.
what school is this i wanna come visit and hear you play
just playing around inthe school
I wish I could be in our High School marching band as a drummer! It looks so cool!
I’m led to believe that my high school enjoys our drumline, they always seem to get into the school spirit during a cadence we do that’s basically named after our school.
that highschool big asf 💀
Do nada um "aí meno" kkkkkkk
This makes me so jelly lol I wish we could do this like they did those wave offs for the 4th graders
Good job I dont care that you think this is your worst playing its amazing

Awesome!!
Plus, credit to that custodial staff!!
Those floors are perfect
I was marveling over their shineyness!
Snare ft. Match grip
And why the heck not!. I always played match sticks back in the day it’s comfy lol
My high school has band class, but they have not once ever done this in the halls. Only for certain school events they're in one room and that's the gym.
Love seeing videos like this as a British student. Would love to have seen a marching band play through my school. Good job as well. You played brilliantly!
