In Pueblo, Colorado, teenager Noah had smoked marijuana before. But most of his friends were using an extra-strong version, known as dabs. Thinking it might help with the insomnia that plagued him in his senior year of high school, Noah picked up a small torch, grabbed the glass smoking device known as a dab rig and heated a yellow, waxy substance into a vapor that he slowly inhaled.
For around two years, Noah, who’s now 24 years old, said the habit made him feel great. The type of marijuana he was loading as many as five times a day into a discreet dab pen - similar in look to a vaping device - was a concentrate, 75% to 98% of which was THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, marijuana’s psychoactive ingredient.
Then Noah, who declined to give his last name due to concerns about discussing drug use, started vomiting a lot and having suicidal thoughts. He lost 30 pounds, had his gallbladder biopsied and was diagnosed with depression. No one could figure out what was wrong. Eventually, after looking up his symptoms online, he thought cannabis might be a possible cause.

Bloomberg should’ve clarified that marijuana does not cause schizophrenia but rather increases the risk in people who have pre existing genetic and family risk factors for it by making the development more likely and at a younger age.

They aren't flavored that way for kids... Cannabis literally grow in different flavors and is often named accordingly. The misinformation in this is insane. Just like anything else don't abuse it and you shroud be ok assuming you don't have previous existing conditions. And I know plenty of people that have dabbed grams or more a day for years with no issues. I have smoked and dabbed myself for 10+ years now with no problems. There is a lot of suspicion that cannabis hyperemesis syndrome comes from some sort of contaminated cannabis as well. I don't have to worry about this as I grow myself and have control of the inputs.

Exactly. Walk into any liquor store and you can find whipped cream, birthday cake, blue raspberry, salted caramel, etc., flavored liquor. As well as things like mikes hard lemonade and twisted tea. The "flavors are for kids" people should probably address that first.

Dabs are like liquor, you take smaller amounts. People throw up if they overdue liquor, its the same with concentrated cannabis.

I've been around people dabbing for a long time this the first I've heard of this scromiting thing. I think you really have to be smoking a ton of dab all day to get this disorder - and its not cheap stuff.

Im a chronic pain patient and get my top tier BHO for under $3/g. Most days lately I dab multiple grams to handle the pain. Im fine and functional.

Cannabinoid Hyperemises Syndrome (CHS) (called "scromiting" here) is not a serious disease, since all you have to do to cure it is stop consuming cannabis.

Due do all this insanity a lot of the marijuana industry employees are loosing jobs now due to dispensaries closing over the high testing costs just to prove our products are saferer than most of the fruit and vegetables we buy at the store. Our food we eat has a higher ppm of yeast and mold than the cannabis we smoke and eat, and we are worried about potency?. We should be worried more about the food we are giving our kids nowdays.

That doesn't really disprove anything they said. If living in a mold-infested building triggers underlying asthma instead of causing an infection, that environmental factor still led to their symptoms. It's just being pedantic.

The kid said he was using "98% THC everyday" but the thing is, for a cannabis product to achieve that potency it would have to be in a crystalline form. The only packaging that lists those potency levels are counterfeit and made clandestinely.
Also, the lady at the end who talks about wishing cannabis stayed at 2-3% is misinformed. We don't know how potent cannabis used to be because NIDA used inferior analysis methods to test the potency. The article "Was Marijuana Really Less Potent in the 1960s?" by The Atlantic is a great piece about that topic.

Cannabis distillate is about 97-98% thc it's a similar process to making alcohol, thc is extracted from plant matter, The extracted material is heated to the point of vaporization, which causes decarboxylation (activation of THC), then the evaporated material is decondensed and collected, leaving an oil that's about 98% pure thc

I am familiar with cannabis concentrates. You are referring to theoretical numbers. Most distillate produced averages around 90-95% THC, but that distillate will have the consistency of frozen honey at room temperature, so its diluted with terpenes to increase flow rate and enhance taste. The biggest problem in this country is that no one can afford to survive. That's what's driving up drug use, overdoses and suicide.
If anything, this is a sign of the need for improvement in Mental Health resources in Colorado; Colorado continues to rank near the bottom, Nationally, on access to mental health care for its residents. There is an issue rising with the effects of high THC on developing brains which needs to be addressed, but that is also dealing with a branch and still misses the root of the problem.

Cannabis helps prevent the deadly swelling from brain trauma, gives the brain more stamina, helps people QUIT addiction to alcohol and other hard drugs, helps prevent and treat Alzheimer's and similar brain disease, and actually stimulates the production of new brain cells.
The Mental Health system is horrible in the USA period, not just in Colorado. People get high because medicine doesn't work or they don't want to be addicted to hard drugs because of their mental illness
