    Great build, looks perfect! This was an awesome reference to use while building my AA 737-800, so that worked out well!

    Great job and on such a small scale! Amazing work with those decals....lots of straight lines 😜Super receiving third place in your local comp so congratulations.

    its called an LPT cone, the low pressure turbine section of the engine where the oil flows for bearing cooling and lubrisation,

  • @mrblujet
    @mrblujet Před 3 lety

    The cone is the exhaust nozzle. Those are usually metallic-blue when they leave the GE Engines factory. Good job on the model. Nice build.

    I believe the cone on the back of the engine is literally just called an “exhaust cone”, I think it’s used to collect all the discharge gasses that the main turbine produces!

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  Před 3 lety +1

      Makes sense, it was too obvious for me to guess. I was thinking it would have some scientific name, but I like the simplicity

    Did you paint over the kit's transparent windows? Did you putty them first, or just paint over as is? (sorry, I'm about to do my first airliner, I usually build 1/350 warships)

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  Před 2 lety

      Good question, I puttied and sanded them before painting. There's no guarantee your window decal will line up perfectly with the kit windows, so its best to start with a smooth clean surface

  • @parpadoo65

    Hi, I just purchased this kit and it my first since I built a kit when I was 18. LONG TIME AGO. You put in the windows then primed and painted over them??? Is that the preferred way to do it at this scale. I can’t imagine masking those. Thanks!

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  Před rokem

      Ive always used window decals to avoid having to mask the windows.

    Beautiful! Most airliner builds are awful... undulating windows and titles etc. Nice idea on the engines too!

  • @avenger6944
    @avenger6944 Před 2 lety

    How do you adress the inevitable seams that present themselves inside the engine cowlings, top/bottom ? Nice build

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  Před 2 lety

      👍 For those seams, they're a nightmare (if they are actually present). On this plane, thanks to good kit engineering they aren't there. See 2:01 and thats the front of the cowling moulded as 1 circular piece. On other planes Ive used either a thin round metal file, or sandpaper wrapped and super glued to a toothpick. If you want to see this technique in action, check out my Solaseed Air 737 build at 2:39. Each method is tough and usually takes multiple putty/sand attempts.

  • @danieljones6805
    @danieljones6805 Před 2 lety

    It looks really good. do you use warm water for decals or do you use a decal liquid?

    • @ScaleModelAssassin
      @ScaleModelAssassin  Před 2 lety +1

      Both. I use warm water to separate the decal from the backing. While Im positioning it on the model, sometimes I use water, sometimes I use decal solution (Microset). I honestly cant tell the difference so it just depends on my mood. Once its in place, I always use a decal softener (Microsol) to help it conform and sink into the panel lines even better.

    You did a great job, but there's no way I would want to work in 1:144...I can't even stand 1:72. You must have nerves of steel and patience by the truckload.
