They can't sue for defamation because the woman's statement is the truth, it's not false.
"Defamation is a false statement presented as a fact that causes injury or damage to the character of the person it is about."
I think they're saying that they have enough power/resources in order to make it seem like defamation
@@jochubigochuall the resources in the world cant legally make that cup of cobolt tainted fluid she has disappear or the FDA records on the construction of the replacements either. The only think they could possibly catch her on is when she drifted from the hip replacement in her speech since she only has proof of the faulty hip replacements.
A lot of people don't realize bottomless pockets means you can completely overwhelm somebody in the legal system on almost every level so they have to spend a crippling amount of time and or money dealing with your petty lawsuits. Put yourself in that position with any professional career. Most people just take the L and back down in the face of this kind of threat which happens regularly in the corporate world.
I have coated titanium brackets, pins, and expanders in my lower spine due to a lower back injury when I was 24...just turned 48. I've often wondered about this kind of thing because I've been diagnosed with multiple auto immune disorders in the past 10-15 years. Most people in this guy's position probably wouldn't even be able to get a doctor to take his case.
titianium is used becuase it is incredibly durable and non reactive to acids and akalines that are in our body. Meaning they wont cause you any poisoning. Unless you somehow powdered it.
most likely they had some degree of cobalt used in the coating, once it starts to break down its highly toxic in the body leading to a huge range of immune issues.
We don’t know what causes most autoimmune disorders, but titanium is incredibly safe
Fun fact, this episode actually helped real doctors diagnose a patient correctly who had the same symptoms.
that doesn't make sense, they should have already been able to diagnose this easily
Her stance in the end isn't exactly a bad one to take. Yes it doesn't fix the root of the problem, but the FDA guidelines are still to blame as well due to the lack of more aggressive regulations. And she got the best deal for her patient.
She is definitely not to blame, because technically the companies are compliant to the regulations and thus their products are not illegal. The FDA is a regulator and cannot expect the market to regulate itself when it is FDA's job. Of course you'll find some companies using the guidelines literally, even though it is ruthless and horrible to place possibly malfunctioning devices in human body, but if those people were e.g. take this to court, the companies have strong evidence that even though the devices are hurting the people, they are not illegal. Tough life. USA citizens should really focus on having better regulations and representatives.
Making the FDA have more stringent guidelines would fix the root of the problem.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the time they add in editing and outing effort in their vids bc if no one does I do keep up the good work saving lifes
@@SluggyBoi they mean the editor of this youtube channel, the real are way longer and have cuts with different story lines
I was lucky to get the ceramic ball and cup liner in 2003 for both hips. My surgeon is a wonderful doctor who works hard to get the best products for his patients. I was the second patient to receive the ceramic parts in NM. My 20th anniversary is this year! YAY!
you thought artificial hips a lasted forever you thought wrong the real ones last longer then artificial parts because of the bodies self repair abilities
Ironically I just watched a clip of House where there was a patient with the exact same issue.
Freema Agyeman is a doctor in this show, and a doctor in Doctor Who. In how many others shows does she play a doctor?
Im mad that i have finished this show because now i get no excitement from these knowing what will happen.
Crazy Martha is still a doctor after leaving the tardis
This is why a profit motive needs to be removed from healthcare. Countries with public systems simply take better care of their people.
Not really. In Germany hospitals receive money in proportion to what treatment they had to do, meaning that doctors are more willing to perform a invasive procedure simply because the hospital will note it and when "rewards" for good work will be distributed, you just might get a bonus...
Guy is so convincing .
Like just watching it for real.
They knew what they were doing by copying house's iconic cane 💀
They didn't copy anything. She was in an ambulance crash in a previous episode, and she obviously needed a cane.
Also, if we're going by your logic, House just copied Dr. Weaver from E.R.
So did the company actually cave or did he just manipulate her to go along with what he wanted her to do?
1st, keep up the posting!! love this channel!
For anyone confused as to why he needs her… his character has cancer in the show.
it's not defamation if it's true.
Please tell me they actually caved and that guy wasn't just manipulating her.
On the first watch I thought the same thing but I don't think so. His phone vibrates right before he picks it up which suggests he was getting texts or phone calls before he even touched the phone. So I think they really did cave.
They caved. Vince got compensation along with hundreds of other patients.
Anyone else know her as Martha Jones??
Wow. And corporations like the one he works at can get very unaccommodating when you have surgery like that too. Wow this is the system in which we live in
Can't help seeing Dr. Martha Jones!
Man I almost forgot how much of a burning hatred of have for how.this show did the s1 end into s2 start
Thank my lucky stars my hip replacement’s are both titanium…
Omg it's Tom from the blacklist🥰😅
In real life, that company would find some way to get out of this scot free and get revenge on the hospital that rightfully sued them by almost shutting it down. At least in my country that is how they would do it
So all the best doctors have a walking stick?
Tom keen, doctor😊, interesting
Imagine it as fighting for freedom or rights idk
I was wondering if the company really caved to the demands or if it was a lie message to protect her career. It's always too short !
Bladder scan
House already did this with Cuddy's mother.
Freedom 🇺🇸
Unfortunately the big guys won again!! She definitely is in the right but in the end she did what ultimately healed her patient. Beginning the doc it’s stated in there first job, do no harm!! She also left it to individual to sue instead of a class action suit we’re i don’t believe lawyers act in good faith…..just an opinion
Hehehehehe I’m evil so I’m gonna shame that company hehehehehehe nothing can stop me now.
I just watch these types of shows because of the gorgeous women in them
The fact of the matter is, while it's also easy to blame loopholes and companies, and the FDA, the patient signed the consent to have the hip put into his body. The risks are clear, and he still signed it. I'm not saying it's his fault. It isn't, but he did sign the paperwork and gave consent.
dr webber dupeee
They stole this from House!
Nah, cobalt poisoning from deffective artificial joints just is quite common.
@@buffya8012 House had an episode with it=New Amsterdam stole the plot line.
Bro tryna be house fr
Sad part is, she's right. Call out one company, another will take its place using the same loopholes.
