This feels very well-timed for me. I just got into it a bit with Alex on his boardgameco channel because he made a video that I felt was extremely discouraging to indie devs, disregarding the uphill battle they face on platforms like kickstarter. My hats off to you, sir.

I'm the first backer for pathways! Really excited about that one. The dice tower mini tournament sold it for me!

Thank you Evan and Chris! I appreciate the support of Pathways and independent publishers!

    Great reviews!
I had a small hand in Bossa and I`ve worked with this company on other games and varous other projects. They are axtremely grateful for your glowing review! Keep your eyes out for Bananamoon games in the future. They have some other great games in their catalogue and there will surely be more coming. Thanks so much!

Appreciate your passion for these games! I typically don't care for abstracts or flicking games, so these 3 aren't for me...but I do back small indie games that are better fits for my group and me.
Glad that you're here to shine light on these smaller projects that too often get dismissed out of hand.

      agreed!

I think there is something very aesthetically pleasing to the eye in having an abstract game with upgraded components. Usually, it involves wood, stone, or other earthy materials, so it looks nice/elegant. While I'm not much of an abstract player it definitely looks way better on the table compared to a bunch of plastic. IMHO. That's not to say that I don't have games with a bunch of plastic on my table but a game like the deluxe $350 Tsuro would probably look more elegant sitting next to Marvel United even with the cardboard sheets, play mat, and plastic tokens.

I was looking at backing Bossa (and after this video I went ahead and clicked the button). The game looks absolutely beautiful, and the combination of short playtime and a little bit of tactics makes it a perfect fit for me.
Really appreciate your passion and enthusiasm for the indie games. It’s easier to make a decision whether or not to back if there is a review out there by someone who has tested the games. Keep doing what you’re doing, it really does help the smaller games and the people backing.

      thanks! I’ll try my best!

I've always supported indie board games but I don't see many of them before their kickstarters are finished. I'm so glad you have taken it up on yourself to review these and other indie games. Keep it up! ^^

Was already backing Bossa. Looks like a great pre-meal game for a restaurant

Thanks for backing! I have a professional and personal relationship with this company and they are thrilled wiyh the response so far. I carry the basic version with me as it can be whipped out whenever you have 5-10 minutes to spare.

Pathways is more affordable and smaller than Crokinole. So I'll be keeping an eye on that to scratch that dexterity game itch. Bossa looks so good and feels like the kind of game Kickstarter was built for. The question isn't, "Do I want this game?" The question is, "Do I want standard, classic, or an art copy?" If an early shipping classic comes available...

I love the look of Bossa, but I would definitely want Classic version which comes to $57 with shipping. Great for Kickstarter of a light euro or such, but the content is too limited for that amount. Certainly appreciate Standard level if you would be willing for less than half, though!

Really considered Iro when it was on kickstarter last year but didnt pull the trigger, sounds like I should have

I came to your channel for the recent Quack drama, was recommended one of your more typical videos and got the idea that you like deckbuilders and abstracts from that, which got me to quick-watch dozens of your videos, skipping through them rapidly. I really liked the premise from one of your oldest videos that you read the rules (of crowdfunding stuff) so we don't have to, but I don't think you kept with that premise, so unfortunately the crowdfunding videos ended up being not for me.
I'd love to see more abstract strategy coverage, but for instance, I got Iro thanks to seeing a review of it on the Dice Tower (along with Wana when its campaign was on).

Iro looks great. Unfortunately as much as I like abstracts, I never get them played. This one definitely made me question backing it though... I was very tempted. Even Santorini is hard to table for me. :(

    •  Před 2 lety +1

Santorini is hard for me as well, I’ve had it on my trade list for a while because my wife doesn’t like it.

  • @Indiana_Knows

I have a Bossa question. What’s the point in choosing the color line ? If you can play on either line then wouldn’t you always choose to go first?

  • @swolfarnold

Snagged iro and Bossa, but totally missed Pathways... any idea if it will become available ever again?

  • @hakuseki2410
    @hakuseki2410 Před 2 lety

I`d like to ask , which point exactly were you unclear on? I`ll let them know so and maybe a little editing can clear it up.

    •  Před 2 lety

for Bossa? there were a few ambiguity issues that I reached out to them on Twitter that they cleared up.

  • @Russellkhan

Came here after seeing this posted to /r/boardgaming. Interesting looking games, but your review would have been more interesting without the time spent arguing. As it was, I felt like half of the video was wasting my time listening to how you disagree with some people who've made comments in the past. IF this is how your videos go, I probably don't need to see more of them.

    •  Před 2 lety

well thanks for watching either way, if you want to check other stuff out go for it.
