As you get older, you will understand the impact of age related macular degeneration. Over time, the eye lens suffers glycation, which can be minimized by avoiding seed oils, refined carbohydrates and all sugars, including milk. Glycation causes non-transparency of the lens. It starts with microscopic dark spots and slowly grows over time. The non-transparent spots both scatter and / or absorb incoming light. Over time, dark mode becomes less stressful than light mode.

@@flybeep1661you don't need a source on everything, can you provide a source on why something is automatically worthless without a source?
if I claim that humans need oxygen to survive, asking for a source in that scenario might not be very helpful to all parties involved(allthough there is of course always a slim chance of something being reasonable but not correct)
in this case though you could just think in terms of energy/heat
when oleds works by giving out light rather than blocking it like an lcd
and we assume that the consumption doesn't reduce with Pixel brightness, we now have extra energy on our hands that is not going into 'making' light so you would expect the screen to heat up, that would mean that oled screens heat up more the darker they get, this already conflicts with what most people should know
in reality we just have individual leds that behave very similar if not identical to other leds which not only consume less due to the lower brightness, but also get more efficient with lower output powers

i tend do go in favour of lightmode with really low brightness recently. i just get tired from looking at black all day and it also makes me feel depressed. ontop i dont like the high contrast and colors and icons in darkmode all look bad too. i also find its unexplainably awkward to read text in darkmode. it feels so weird to have white text on black
i wish there was a middle ground.
if you work in photography for example photoshop also has a ''dark mode'' but it actually isnt ''dark black'' but using a 127:127:127 neutral gray. it doesnt burn your eyes like lightmode can do sometimes but everything you do from text to colors has a really accurate representation without any harsh contrasts because the background and theme is simply neutral.
thats what i really want. a neutral gray mode.
discord has a theme quite similar to this and it looks endlessly better to look at and read than pure dark mode

I just wanted to add that to most users, dark mode/light mode is not a choice. It is an accessibility issue.
Some users can not see well in pitch black dark mode. This particular evident in users with astigmatism.
Dark mode is not just for aesthetics or saving the battery life. It is about making the Internet more accessible.
