In this clip: 15.25.02 With the licensed raptor experts having departed after their errand of mercy feeding the chicks in the inexplicable absence of Louis, Dorcha returns and spots the fish they left for her. She immediately starts tucking in and the chicks, with full crops from the whole mackerel they were each hand-fed, crowd around her. She gives them some of the fish but eats plenty herself.
Where is Louis? Fingers crossed for his safe return.
Woodland Trust said they sought expert advice and were granted permission by the government agency who handle these matters - NatureScot - to intervene. Full statement in the pinned comment.

Brief history of the nests:
2016 Woodland Trust acquire the Loch Arkaig ancient Caledonian rainforest remnant and manage it in partnership with Arkaig Community Forest.
2017 A nest cam is installed on a refurbished Osprey nest. A young male Louis and a young female Aila take up residence and raise one male chick to fledging: Lachlan JH4. 2018 Louis & Aila return but a Pine Marten steals all their eggs.
2019 Louis & Aila return and raise two female chicks to fledging: Mallie JJ0 and Rannoch JJ2.
2020 Louis & Aila return and raise two male and one female chicks to fledging: Doddie JJ6; Vera JJ8 and Captain JJ7.
2021 Louis returns but sadly Aila doesn't. Louis takes up residence on a new nest with a new mate Dorcha and they raise two male chicks to fledging: Aspen LW3 and Alder LW4. This is designated Nest Two, no one takes up residence on Nest One.
2022 Woodland Trust install a nest cam on Nest Two. Louis & Dorcha return and raise two female chicks to fledging: Willow LW5 and Sarafina LW6. Still no residents on Nest One.
2023 Louis & Dorcha return, and raise one male chicks to fledging: Ludo LY7. No residents on Nest One but male Garry LV0 spent a lot of time flirting with Affric 152 despite her mate Prince still being around.
The Woodland Trust nest cam was installed by Wildlife Windows in Arkaig Community Forest, it is funded by The People's Postcode Lottery and operates on wifi provided by Locheilnet. Watch the livestream 24/7.

Woodland Trust said they sought expert advice and were granted permission by the government agency who handle these matters - NatureScot - to intervene. Full statement of Woodland Trust's reasons for intervention:
After taking advice we have decided to place some fish on the nest today if Louis or Dorcha do not bring anything in meantime. This could be within the next hour or two subject to legal clearance. The camera may be switched off for this to happen.
Given the weekend is approaching, a licence is also being sought to remove the chicks from the nest so we have that option over the weekend if we need it.
The advice we have received is that if Louis has not returned by the end of the weekend, then he likely will not be returning. That being the case it is unlikely Dorcha would be able to successfully raise the two chicks to the end of the season and migration. Even given her best efforts to protect them and fish, they would likely not make it.
Enquiries have revealed that among the options there is potential for the chicks to go into an existing translocation programme for the benefit of the species. We won’t commit to that until we are sure Louis and Dorcha don’t have a good chance of continuing undisturbed to raise their family.
The tricky thing is not intervening too soon when Louis might turn up at any moment, and not leaving it too late until the chicks won’t be in good enough condition to survive translocation.
The advice we have is that it is too soon to write Louis off yet, but if he continues to be absent until late into the weekend then we should look at removing the chicks then.
The licence to do that is being sought today, even if it is not needed in the end.
In order to increase the chance of a successful outcome for the chicks should they be removed in a few days time, they are going to be fed today to tide them over for now. They may also be fed tomorrow.
To provision the nest Lewis will climb the tree and leave fish.
You will appreciate we have a lot to sort out and I may not be able to answer the many questions I am sure you will have. So please bear with us.
Thank you all for keeping us informed and for intervening with food, that was probably a life saver and Dorcha really needed the help ❤
Thank you for this important update. I have read this 3 x6 times , and each time, I've started crying and had to start again ! Thank you for caring for this tragic situation, and I'm hoping that along with every other follower, this is a good ending, Louis is a legend, and Loved Dorcha is a star, and those babies deserve a chance ! Having lived a few miles from Arkaig, I can not remember the weather like this at this time of year . Thank you so much for caring. Please let everyone be safe. Thanks, Geemeff, for your outstanding contribution during this immensely challenging time❤x
Many thanks for the update, I'm very glad Dorcha's receiving help to feed herself & the chicks & thank you so much to those taking responsibility for caring for Louis & Dorcha's family.
Hopefully Louis will return but at least his family will be ok if the worst has happened to this wonderful Dad.
What an amazing bird Dorcha is feeding her chicks with something that must be so alien to her - a fish appearing in the nest with no Louis delivering it.
Thank you so much for the explanation @ Geemeff 💓
I did see the man that climbed to tree. > Thanks to him.
Prayers for Louis safe return. ❤
Good news @Geemeff & everybirdy! Louis returned with a fish at 8.28am Saturday! He looks well! So relieved ❤
🇬🇧 In the early 1960s I lived in the North Newcastle upon Tyne area of North Eastern Britain
I lived in a small rural village & can still remember the buzz of excitement when two Ospreys chose to nest just outside our village near a small lake.
Everyone came to see them but respectfully kept their distance so as not to alarm these wonderful rarely sighted birds.
I was only 10 yrs but excited to go & see these nesting birds as I knew they bestowed a privilege on our little village.
Some of the old chaps set up a kind of Hide, so we could observe but keep hidden from the Birds.
It's over 60 yrs ago now but I do recall clearly keeping up with the nesting process & looking through binoculars at the nesting Chicks, I think there were 4 of them.
It was a big event in our little village, through those months.
Then one day they were gone.
It made a lasting impression on me, something I've never forgotten,
Our Year of the Ospreys
Beautiful Birds
Thank You 🦅
🇬🇧🙋
Thank YOU for such a heartwarmingly written story.
Truly thankful for the update @Geemeff and to Lewis and everyone involved in doing everything possible for these precious chicks and their parents who have done nothing but the best in their powers to raise them despite all the challenges they’ve had to endure thus far🙏🏼 Continued prayers for Louis’s safe return❤
Thanks Geemeff for the update and well done to the team who are looking out for a successful outcome for this nest.
Wonderful to see the experts decided intervention was needed. The chicks looked very cold huddling together this morning. Thanks to the team for their hard work. 🤞for Louis's safe return.
Thanks for the update This is so incredibly worrying I pray Louis comes back but as he is such a wonderful father his absence is very concerning So glad people are looking out for these wonderful birds
Thank you Geemeff for that update. I think that all of us needed to read that. I have been upset worrying for them all too. I adore Louis ❤. I’m praying that he’s ok and will be back providing for his family soon…🙏🏻 Heartfelt thanks to all of the team!
Can you please pass on to the team and thank them for what they have done. It's a waiting game now 💔😢
Genuinely sick with worry. C'mon Louis, please return 🙏🏻❤
Love the look Dorcha gave the fish!!
Louis is my hero, i started follow him 3 years ago. He is so devoted to his family and magnificent. I really hope he will come back with a big fresh fish, as he used to do... but i feel something happened to him
Thanks for the update prayers for safe return of Louis ❤
Thanks for the description, although I followed the events closely today and really cheered for the successful operation, Dorka's face was fantastic as soon as she arrived at the nest and this video showed it perfectly. I ask God's blessing on these birds!
🙏🏻 for everything to work out for the best. Doing a 👍🏻 job all who’re involved ❤️
Thanks for Investigation. Dorcha and Louis also here in Germany osprey stars, and all talons cross for an good Coming-out. Dorcha without Louis, that feels strange. Hopeful greetings from Germany.
Well done to the fish fairy! A wonderful moment.
Love the way she looks round as though she will see the fish fairy… wonder what is going through her mind? More than I expected. Good outcome considering everything today - onwards and upwards! 🤞 Thank you Mr Stat man… have your statistics been used for a life saving outcome before?
That's worrying let's pray Louis is safe and well and returns soon.
Wednesday night feels long ago now,, 😢 just keep on hoping that , if Louis had an injury, he would somehow get back to his nest within a few days.
Dorcha is doing a great job of sheltering the chicks. It would be very sad to see them trans located, but if it saves both chicks it would be best option for them.
More hail today & again tonight. Hoping for Louis to return. Fingers, talons, paws crossed.❤
thanks to WT for deciding on supplementary feeding BUT ooh oh, when Dorcha returned to find fresh fish, did she reduce that Louis delivered it? too too poignant
I feel she is looking around for Louis who she feels has brought the fish. Either that or perhaps she thinks the big bobs have been fishing
Louis was dedicated on feeding his family so strange he is missing. Attacked by an eagle or has this been someone who fishes in nearby Loch.?
Good news Jim! Louis returned with a fish at 8.28am Saturday! So relieved to see him, he looks well.
@@suzycat2026 thanks. Such a relief.
Yes indeed! @@jimmcintosh9045
So still no sighting or news of Louis?
How long has Louis been missing
Last sighting at nest was Wednesday night.
Hope he is safe & able to return 🙏
Was that Father Christmas then?
