      Would this be good to use in my sons 10 gallon that has 5 guppies and a cory along with 2 java ferns, a banana plant and an amazon sword? The tank is a few months old and the java ferns don't seem to be doing well. The sword and banana are doing great.

      I use it in my 10 gal. tanks, every since I started using it the growth (I have all the plants that are in your sons tank) and color of the plants is amazing! I can't say enough about this product! I used to use all of Seachem fertilizers and had no noticeable results.

Now watching your channel I am taking that plunge. You have no idea how much this particular video has helped me with my swords and Madagascar lace plants! I promise you this, if you get to read this comment, I'm not commenting fishing for a reply. I am commenting to let you know that as soon as I finish typing this, I am going to your website and ordering Easy Green. Oh, and that you guys are dosing WAY more than what the bottle says. I "overdose" based on what the bottle was saying and I was all worried I was doing something else wrong, hence why the plants were liking it. But if you guys are doing it too, I can't be crazy! I haven't been in the hobby for very long, maybe one month or so. But my first plant came from a petco tube and my second one came from a seed I planted myself. The tubed plant is still alive and almost hasn't grown at all. The seed sprouted in one week doubled in size every day and is now a massive underwater tree that continues to grow every day. For my first impressions I say seeds are the best way to get plants because they literally birth and evolve to your aquarium keeping style and there is no need for acclimation or the need to keep dosing as it knows how to survive off your water. Just my beginner first impressions though.

My nitrates stay pretty low as well and I do 50% weekly water changes on my tanks. Been having trouble with plants other than anubia, so I am assuming I do not have enough nutrients. I also do not do co2. *Just ordered your fert, sad that there is no 500ml bottle. But next order will be the biggest bottle you got. Hey Cory, I really enjoyed the in depth discussion here. It seems I have learned the hard way the importance of balance in the aquarium with regards to macros, micros, and light. I have been in this hobby over a year, and beside the fish the few fish that hadn't made the transition to my tank successfully haven't killed anything. That was until I decided to fertilize my tank with Flourish comprehension and Excel. One single dose of both destroyed my two formerly beautiful anubias. I completed a 50% water change the day prior, and run a single Aqueon tube that came with my bowfront tank. Despite following directions exactly (actually dosing slightly less), the damage wrought was pretty devastating. The anubias melted, incrementally starting with the leaves turning into veined skeletons, falling off, and rhizome turning to mush in the course of about a week. I am thinking that perhaps the fertilizers exacerbated some micro deficiency. I'm not but am willing to retry if I can figure out what happened. One last thing, before all this my anubias grew a leaf every 3 weeks, also Java fern grew super slow. After killing the anubias tho, Java ferns exploded to twice their size. Any ideas what happened here?

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  Před 8 lety

      +John Martinez It's hard to say what happened. As everyone's water is different. But I will say that generally those two ferts do fine with anubias. Likely your java fern took off because it wasn't sharing the nitrogen with the anubias anymore and it was limited by the nitrogen. I'd say to try in another aquarium without fish or very low doses until you feel comfortable to do it in your main tank again as I do feel fertilizer will help your plants a ton.

    Hi guys, I appreciate all the useful information you're putting out. I have a question, does the aquatic fertilizer business use the same standard for numbering their ferts as the terrestrial biz does? I mean, if I buy 10-10-10 lawn fert I know what I'm getting. Are aquarium ferts labelled this way and if not, why not? It seems that would be good information for the consumer and would take some of the mystery out of the process. Thanks in advance for your thoughts! Buying premixed ferts is an expensive way to buy water imho.

    i got a small patch of java moss with some neo's and add local spring water and fresh water from streams and the java moss turned into java mass.... also its in a bare bottom tank and no dosing... no water changes, nothing in the way of maintenance... just a good size sponge filter, air stone and add water ass evaporated. clear water.... just started dosing a very small amount though added a nice light and it pearls about 15 min after i add seachem flourish excel... however i have a 55 gallon i have with a cured bed of gravel from walmart (black and neon) i added a bed of eco-complete over that i recently tried to plant... I added micro sword trying to make a carpet with, planted some guppy grass on the sides that have started throwing runners, and a decent sized amazon sword.... it has litteraly done almost nothing but give me green water algae... tried to add some bacteria because it was clear and clean for 5 months with no water changes until i cleaned filter... i had cut up a polyester shirt and used it in place of bio floss pad until i got floss pads... i threw it out now i keep getting g.w.a. im going to add more plants to see if i can process some of this nutrients... any tips anyone?????

    Would you be able to explain how N vs NO3 is utilized by aquarium plants and if one is more important than the other? I see only N listed in your Easy Green product but a lot of the forum discussions focuses on applying and maintaining a ppm concentration for NO3. I guess the same question applies to P vs PO4. Thank you for all your videos and am thoroughly impressed with how you treat your livestock and your business ethics.

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  Před 7 lety

      +Rod S they are utilized the same way as far as I understand it. The difference between the chemicals are how they are measures.
      It all depends on what form you are supplying. For instance you can also use urea, but that is only safe in low pH tanks for example. I am in by no means an expert in this area.

      There is targeted towards a higher light tank that assumes you run a pH of 6.4 so the nitrogen source being ammonia isn't harming the animals in your tank. We don't use an ammonia based nitrogen source. Subscribe to keeping getting useful videos from us Ragnarok.

    One thing I figured out after almost a year of using it is that easy green only added about 7-8ppm nitrates per 3 pumps on my 30 gallon, I would keep my nitrates under 15 and sometimes I would even skip dosing because I thought 15 was to high, now I’m doing 3 times a week my plants are growing and my nitrates stay under 20 it’s crazy,

    If I can add, George and Karla Booth, from in the early 90's, who started doing serious planted tanks, had a discussion in Aquarium Fish magazine on Ammonia vs Nitrates. Actually, and long as you water is mildly basic, i.e. roughly 7.0~7.4 pH, well let me walk this back, there is a balance of ammonia to ammonium ions in a natural water system, everyone thinks ammonia = bad, but in a planted tank, and one with a healthy , balanced ( good live bacteria and other microorganisms in the substrate), the Ammonium ions are preferential used over Nitrates, as it's easier for the Ammonium to be processed through the hair roots and leaf surfaces. It's also easier for the plant to access the ammonium as the water becomes more weakly acid. I.E. < pH of 7.0.

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  Před 8 lety

      Interesting, I was under the impression that Ammonium is only present when the pH is 6.4 or lower. Got some late night research to do tonight.

You mention Dwarf Sag as being one of the plants that doesn't get along well with Excel, this is the first time I've heard it on the list of "No Excel Plants." Was this a slip, or is that a potential cause of my issue? 10g, Stingray 20", eco complete, osmocote+ tabs, DIY Ferts "EI low light method" My crypts, Annubias, and Moneywort are all growing well.
