  • Harry Perry, also known as the Kama Kosmic Krusader, has been taking Venice by storm for decades; many refer to him as the icon of Venice Beach, whose image adorns murals, postcards, and even a 22-foot statue in the Disneyland California Adventure parade. His image so embodies the spirit of the area that you’ll find him skating alongside Kerri Walsh Jennings in CT a recent commercial for a the State of California itself. You might find him following the Grateful Dead tour or onstage, such as on his 2006 tour with System of a Down. His TV appearances include a recurring role in Heroes on NBC and a guest starring role in CSI, among others. His filmography includes White Men Can’t Jump, the Hustler of Muscle Beach, You Can’t Hurry Love, and more. He performs his song "Entertainment City” to Bridget Fonda in Point of No Return-and performs again in The Gift, serenading Perry Farrell with his iconic song, “Message.” He has been rocking out with the Harry Perry Band all the while, including an opening performance to a sold out Jane’s Addiction and Dinosaur Jr concert.
The Harry Perry Band is a rhythmic psychedelic rock jam band with science fiction lyric themes. As it is today, the band is a newly formed trio that rocks out to Harry Perry Band favorites, covering the band’s recordings released from the 80’s all the way to the present. Darren Haag is the bassist-and the band’s drummer is named Evan Perkins. The three of them make a psychedelic power trio! A machine just landed on mars-but those listening to the Harry Perry Band won’t be landing anytime soon.

That’s so awesome. I remember him from like 20 years ago, but I noticed he’s not on skates which that’s fine. Because what is he like? Pushing 80 now bless his heart. I love him.

He has been there a long time. I first came to Venice Beach in the summer of 84 and he was out there on roller blades with a guitar. I have thought about him a few times over the years. God Bless him he's super sweet and still there singing songs

I'm from Venice (over 60+ years and now pushing 80) and I have never heard anyone say that Harry Perry takes or took "Venice by storm". "The icon"??? .. as in influence or significance??? How about bohemians, beatniks, coffee houses, beat-poets, Hippies, actual artists, musicians, bikers, stoners? . I give Perry him credit for establishing himself as an annoying fixture and for being a survivor, that's for sure. Don't wanna seem arrogant, but I've always been protective of my community. The person who wrote the description (above) ain't from Venice.
