"Forget Me Not" Synopsis
In Forget Me Not, a whale washes ashore in a remote coastal town, bringing with it a burst of attention, which then leads a journalist to reopen a cold case that has plagued the long
forgotten community. Ten years prior to the whale, three young women of color were strangled on the shores of Forget-Me-Not Cove, but any viable leads were pursued too late, and due to this inefficient police work and County bias, the murderer was never found. To further complicate matters, a white female tourist went missing near the beach around the same time, and as a result, the media focus was never aligned with the needs of the Forget-Me-Not victims. Subsequently, when Pete Medina reopens the case, he and all the Forget-Me-Not townspeople are forced to wrestle with this tragedy they have buried for the past decade, which leads to an explosive reveal that makes us wonder what we choose to remember and forget. With book and lyrics by Kate Thomas and music by Joey Contreras, Forget Me Not features a lush contemporary score with haunting motifs and heartfelt melodies.
