    Oh my God, are you freaking kidding me? I don’t believe what I’m seeing. This is taking me back way back to my young teenage years being an Allman Brothers fan from 69 then following them all the way to Chuck Lavelle and sea level this stuff is priceless Jimmy Nalls and Davis Causey may they rest in peace were too extremely talented and ferocious guitar players. They were the second coming of Duane and Dickey I still have all their albums and I try to find them on CD cause most of the albums I wore out believe me learning the parts and just listening to the songs. What a great time for music Capricorn recording artists never got the recognition they deserved, but man that was one hell of a band.

      Relaxing on a Saturday night, fell down an Allman Brothers/Great Southern rabbit hole, finally found the 1970s video of Dickey Betts acoustic jamming in a hotel room, came across the Saturday Night in Macon concert video(check them out if you haven't seen them) and ended up finding this gem. I'd forgot all about Sea Level. Cheers

    I am so glad I found this. It's not the best quality video, but these guys were top notch musicians, from the Allman Bros. Sea Level opened for Marshall Tucker back in the 70's at the Paramount Theater, Seattle. A theater of a little over 5 thousand seats then. I was in the fifth row. What a show. Both entire bands came out for two encores. Will never forget that night almost 50 years back

    Two questions: Why wasn't this band at the top of the charts during it's heyday. Funky, jazzy, great rock sensibilities, incredible musicianship, songs with great lyrics. I saw them twice - once with the original 4 piece - and once with this line up. Just an absolute fantastic show.
    Second, Jimmy Nalls was one of my favorite guitarists ever. Why was he so low in the mix? What a great great player he was.

    • @scottvanwinkle1638
      @scottvanwinkle1638 Před rokem

      Hi Hurricane. I was Jimmy's guitar tech during much of the 6 piece line up and there's a reason he's so low in the mix. Jimmy loved to play LOUD. Davis was much more in control, & the sound guys were able to put him up in a better place in the mix. Wish you could've been there for this performance. Jimmy was on fire....he was magnificent with a strat in his hands

    Really were one of the best Capricorn bands. Saw them a lot in 77 and 78 both the original four piece and then when they augmented by Randall and Davis. They were very accessible compared to some of the bigger acts. Randall still carries the torch for this style of music and has a lights out band. Cowboy was on a similar level during this era and were also great. Jimmy usually played a Strat in the early days. Great player. RIP to both him and Davis. Thx for posting!
