    Hey! Future Tiptoe here. Thanks for checking out these videos! If you'd like to keep up on CZcams Community info, I'll be posting extra bits of info here in the future: czcams.com/users/TiptoeTheTankcommunity
    As of this post, this is a relatively young channel. I've only really been around since the end of 2020. I hope to be around for the foreseeable future; I'm excited to watch this little passion project grow. More info and content will come with time! Thank you for being here so early in the game. PEACE!

    Until now I never knew what the outsider's backstory was, now that I do... I agree that the outsider deserves mercy. No one deserves to be forced into a position of power, especially if that power causes so much pain and suffering to the one that uses it. I chose mercy, The Outsider merely gave power it was always up to the individual on how they were to use it. It will always be up to the individual to choose greatness or infamy. The sacredness of choice makes all the difference. The ability to chose is so very overlooked and undervalued. It makes sense then if he could not have his name back death was preferable the one thing the outsider wanted. A life that was unfairly stolen and so goes the line of thought. The reason why billie was never chosen to bear the outsider's mark was because she was his successor. Goodjob

      You can make the argument that the Outsider knows that a certain person is mentally compromised and that giving them such powers would almost certainly lead to them abusing it. In these cases, surely he holds a great level of blame. And his past chosen have all been in some position that could very well lead them on a killing spree if they received his mark. I.e. that rat boy I’m pretty sure, very clearly daud, corvo/Emily maybe not so much because of their honor, but also and especially billy at the end.

      I've not played the games as I couldn't get into the stealth mechanics (but have watched all three of these videos so have the knowledge they impart... or what sank in at least), so maybe this is explained during play... but why exactly was the Outsider motivated to give his mark to anyone at all? Because unless he's being driven to do it by some cosmic imperative (like venting some power otherwise he'll explode or shart himself or something), he's absolutely responsible for the actions of everyone he empowers, as he could've just, like... not done it. If he's just doling out inhuman abilities for the sake of his own 'curiosity' (AKA shits and giggles), he's bang out of line and completely indefensible.
      Also, if his original name was a weird symbol/code that can only be read and spoken by the dead, instead of something like, I dunno, Dave or Clarence or something, doesn't that kinda mark him out as being something pretty fucking special even before becoming the Outsider...?! How did he live a normal life for so long if his name was something akin to Cthulhu having a sneezing fit?

    I had a suggestion: is there any way I could convince you to cover the whales? There lore is fascinating. The whales exist in both the void and in the physical world. They seem connected. (Evidenced by numerous things, an example actually being when you see several swimming around the ritual hold, where the Outsider is created). The game also mentions "when the last Leviathan is gone darkness will fall". Which could be commenting on the fact that hunting the whales to extinction is sapping the void. It could also have a dual meaning, when whale oil runs out, darkness will fall. (Imagine our world suddenly running out of oil/gas, it would cause absolute chaos) Then we hear stories about how the whales can drive people mad and give them visions. I think, before the series got put on ice, that they were going to base the next game on the whale oil crisis... (You can see alternatives such as wind power already being made in Karnaca, but it's similar to our world, where we are already trying to move off fossil fuels but ultimately we are still extremely reliant on oil and gas and will be for at least 5-10 more years)
    It's beautiful. Their world runs on the oil extracted from limited mythical creatures, and humans are hunting them to extinction without realising they will collapse the population and, with it, the void and their industrial world will collapse too. I am so sad D3 is still years away, I ain't getting any younger :/

    • @TiptoeTheTank
      @TiptoeTheTank  Před 3 lety +77

      That would be very interesting. I could see one day returning to the world to do a series of smaller, more contained stories. I've considered something similar with Silent Hill, Outlast, and Bioshock. Good recommendation; I'll keep that tucked away in my brain!

    • @vylbird8014
      @vylbird8014 Před 2 lety +7

      Or it might be more literal. The whales and the void are intimately connected: Even their bones retain that connection. What role do they serve in the greater cosmology? Without the whales, would the void cease to exist, perhaps? With the death of the last whale, the void will either be destroyed or be severed. Perhaps with a cataclysm that destroys the world, or perhaps just leading to all supernatural powers fading to nothing.

    • @mousesteam7882

      I can relate! After playing dishonored for a while i started using my hand in dreams and actually had superpowers, but somehow also made up my own. I could grab things like telekinesis, and something i called the wish granter, i say what i want and snap my fingers, and it just happens. Years later though any time that i try anything in a dream everything becomes flooded, waves of dark black water come, and when i get submerged it is so terrifyingly black that i always wake up. I cant use my powers anymore, that saddens me. I could smoke, eat sweets and fly, or speak to my long passed relatives, explore space...

It'd be ridiculous to not think one would have an end game.

    I believe it's sort of clear that Deathloop is set in the world of Dishonored just well into the future and with it I believe it points at that all magical stuff comes from the void. The outsider being stuck in the void and giving marks to people works as a conduit to channel it's power into people thus allowing them to use magic. In Deathloop people have found a breach into the void and is using it to live forever while being in the void allows them to use magic. However by the end of Deathloop we are shown that the breach or rather the void is bleeding into reality seemingly all over the world which now allows people to use magic outside of the loop as shown by Julianna teleporting away outside of the loop which was said to be impossible.
    It also makes sense with how the Outsider in this part of the game warns that in the future the void will invade/break into their world which is seemingly what has happened by the end of Deathloop. Redfall also seemingly makes connection to this, which I haven't checked myself, which seems to point at their games all being set in the same world. Heck you could I guess to some degree even argue that Prey is as well and that what the Outsider really talked about was the alien invasion in Prey. But who knows.

    Are you posting these videos in their corresponding subreddits and forums? These videos are done at such a high level of quality, it makes no sense you're not getting the views other lore videos are.

    Its not that bad because it could just be dishonoreds version of gods, them being mortal or not always having been gods all the time. Like some gods in their universe might always be a constant and some people might become gods by accident or gods temporarily. Dishonored seems to play fast and loose with their deitys. I kinda liked the ambiguity of it tho in the 1st game and the mystery of it almost like an eldritch kinda thing. Both have their arguments and pros and cons and they're both cool.
