It was an exciting fight, but was also hard to watch. Both man are so inspirational, and simphatic, you don't want to see them loose.

I'm brazilian and a Alex fan, but man, Jiri got my respect with this fight and the way he's dealing with the loss. That's the way champs are built

I felt sick while watching this fight, Jiri is one of my favorite fighters, his fighting style is incredible, strikes from strange angles, and very mobile, on the other hand there was Pereira who bought me on the first day with his with the entrance song, the band Sepultura (my favorite band) and also when I saw how humble he is, and at the same time an incredible fighter... Considering his age and the very fact of how much Pereira has achieved in a short time, so I like him now that he has won the belt, Jiri will SURELY be the champion again.
That was very inspiring, Jiri is a true warrior!

How can you not like this guy?So humble in defeat.
But Jiri literally gets hurt in all of his fights like this and still manages to win. Marc always stops it too early or too late...
Maybe he does it again this time. Maybe he doesn't. Maybe this time he eats unnecessary strikes from Poatan while mounted and ends up a vegetable. Ref saw too many unanswered strikes after a knockdown and decided enough was enough. In the longrun, this likely saved Jiris chin. He's still young, there is no need to do to him what Herb did to Weidman when he fought Rockhold.
Jiri had great moments in that fight and this loss does not diminish his name. We will likely get a rematch at some point and it will be even better.

This was one of those fights that you didn't want to see either fighter at the wrong end of a KO, keep your head up Jiri, I patiently wait for your return, I'm sure you'll dig deeper and come back even better.
Jiri has to be relentless like he was pre-Glover fights, don't worry about dragging out a 5 round war, you were too respectful of AP and that's why he was able to to hit you with some solid shots, especially the leg kicks early in the fight.

You can tell a lot in a fighters eyes that give away if it's all an act. But Jiri is genuinely a warrior and believes in himself immensely... very few fighters have that look. Huge respect, hope to see a rematch in the near future, that walkout and staredown was straight out of a movie.

I was watching the fight with some people who are not even fight fans. They saw Jiri and became instant fans. The exact words were, “Wow, I respect THAT guy!”

Kinda sad cause jiri really lives this like martial arts is everything to him and he’s so disciplined and that’s not to take away from Alex but I can imagine jiri going back to his home and just isolating himself for like a week thinking over this loss. That’s the type of dude he is so it’s sad to know that’s likely what he’ll do but I know he’ll come back better than ever. Much love to him and respect to all fighters who live this life win or lose
