Today, we ride the full journey of 170 from Queen Street to Larkin including the checkpoints (except entering SG customs).

Sbs bus 170 and smrt 178 are the sole surviving route since in 80s which passing by woodlands road.Still remember sbs service 171 , Tibs service 180, 181,182 and pte bus 22 which used to pass by the area of woodlands road nearly 30 years ago.Still remember those days.

I just put my recording device on the front windscreen of the bus when out of SG (since SBST cross border buses have no granny seats)

1) No. You can take any bus to cross the border, just that you pay more if you change operators midway (+RM2 for CWL, +S$0.83(ezlink)/S$1.50(cash) for SBST/SMRT)
You should take the same bus operator's bus to save on money (eg: start on 170x, take 160/170/170x to cross)
2) Yes, both for tapping out and back in

5519 Transport Videos good question. U see, there is no 170 citaro that connects to the next bus stop from woodlands train checkpoint and the scanias will are full of passengers to and from JB so i have no choice but to take 178
