Veteran player here, and I watch these beginner videos because I seem to often learn something new. I did not know long sticks could be used to disarm bear traps. Makes sense. Back in the day, I'd just shoot them with an arrow, back when we still had archery in the game. Still waiting for that to come back, but it's been over 2 years now. 🙁
Same here I never knew you could make a bone knife with 1 bone I always toss that last odd bone now instead of 2 knifes from 5 bones you can make 5 knifes

Something to point out with fires upgraded with stones, and especially the oven, is their extended lifespan. I don't recall the specific numbers, but upgrading fireplaces with stones keeps the fireplace in the game world for a much, much longer duration (like days or weeks, as opposed to hours). This will prevent attached gear like a cooking tripod and pot from disappearing after a few hours like they do with a normal fireplace or a fireplace in a house. A fire barrel, if I recall, has the longest life span, something like 40-some days. Of course, if you craft a flag pole, that will prevent despawning of items within a 60m radius, as long as you keep the flag hoisted.

You can use bandages as kindling but don't put all 6 pieces into the fireplace. You only need one piece to get the fire started. Right click on the bandage to split up the bandages so you don't waste your bandages or bark. 03:02

I don’t know how you don’t have more subs your videos are 20 times more helpful and easy to understand than dayz you tubers with 20k subs cuz they make their videos for dayz vets. As for rocks, my experience has been I've never seen one on the beach, I've very rarely seen them on the railroad, on the trails and dirt roads in town however, I've found so many I started dropping them.

I farmed some tomatoes the other day. Made like 6 plants and 2 pepper plants. This was shortly after I ate some guy who tried to kill me after I tried giving him some tomatoes and other things. At one point I thought my guy was laughing to himself at how rich with tomatoes I was as I am new and struggle a lot still… unfortunately it was from a brain prion disease, and not my massive stash of tomatoes. 😔
i love about this game the fact that most crafts are just obvious, stick in bear trap? irl it would be your first thought,but i guess games made you think that you need a more complicated solution haha
@@Nitno I had countless hours in the original mod but the standalone was so broken I got sick of it. Needless to say I was surprised by how well it plays now. It's so much better, downright enjoyable even. I never thought I'd say this, but it may have actually surpassed the mod.
I learned a lot from this video, so thank you for for teaching me new things in the game. The one thing you didn't mention is how to craft a bone knife with bones and how to craft a netting fishtrap or the small fishtrap with the plastic bottle.
Love the secret stash aswell much better for hiding weapons when a small group so they don't get everything when raiding your base 😉 very underated video
Finally know how to make fire without a lighter big thanks 😊 first day playing dayz and as much as its frustrated me first couple of tries I have actually managed to get some half decent supplies to carry on with later
4:50 just some real world knowledge, gas lanterns get very fucking hot and grabbing one by the GLASS like that is a good way to make the skin on your hand bubble up 😂

Low-key idk why people make bases when you could just bury kits in strategic places rinse and repeat sure people could see it but if it's hidden in foliage somewhere that leaves no indication of gear you basically have as many life's as you want
I totally get your point and I agree. In my solo playstyle if I ever make a stash it's always with a shovel to bury items. There is something to be said about making a base though, a home to defend. And knowing its temporary is part of the fun for some.

Sure, so I can only speak from a PC perspective. Click on the Community Tab. I highly suggest searching DayOne, ZERO, or servers hosted by Spaggie. That is for servers that are lightly modded, which I prefer. I personally am not a huge fan of heavily modded servers with Traders.
He’s right about community tab. But if you’re looking for non modded servers I’d suggest blackout. They have active admins and a reporting system on discord as well as an economy system and trading
@@Nitno might become a fisherman lol, build a base somewhere near the shore and just trade food with fresh spawns. For simple things like soda and axes and such. Now that I think about it reminds me when a couple buddies of mine roamed around being medics, asking for blood donations and such. Was so much fun. Also tip, if someone is a roaming medic, would not suggest killing them, everyone we helped found out and we had 17 people come to kill 3 guys 🤣🤣🤣🤣 most bad ass thing to see EVER!
Just an update: long sticks won't set off bear traps anymore which makes sense since the trap needs weight to set it off. Logs will set off the trap though, the ones you use for a fireplace not the long building logs lol wish they would allow us to saw down the 357 repeater already and allow us to attach the handgun scope to the revolver at least. I understand not allowing a suppressor on it but not allowing a scope just seems lazy on the devs part.

Excellent point! The stone fireplaces are actually good makeshift storage when not in use.

It has been a very long time since I've played DZ. Can't wait to get going more. I just wish vehicles were more plentiful.

Just an update: long sticks won't set off bear traps anymore which makes sense since the trap needs weight to set it off. Logs will set off the trap though, the ones you use for a fireplace not the long building logs lol wish they would allow us to saw down the 357 repeater already and allow us to attach the handgun scope to the revolver at least. I understand not allowing a suppressor on it but not allowing a scope just seems lazy on the devs part.
