What a beauty! Looks like a brand new Farmall. A woman is but a woman but a Farmall is a fine tractor!
Yep check that draw bar it can never be replaced or swapped with a different tractor. I remember having 2 or more 4020's on the cultivator's and put draw bar's next to shop wall they got switched around more times than not to the original tractor. Almost like hour's those tachs always are original and worked flawlessly for year's LOL!
Those are some good tips to use when looking to buy a restored tractor. Especially when looking at it. As others have suggested, don't forget to look at the engine & hydraulic oil & coolant for any tail tail signs about the tractor too. That was a very nice looking 1206 Farmall. Stay safe.
Tell tale as in telling a tale(story)
I’m 13 and me and my dad are restoring an old international 806. I am a very picky person when it comes to tractors and my 806 has about 6000 hours on it, and the hitch is a little bit less of an egg then this 1206 but when I saw it you people would’ve laughed out loud if you’d have seen my reaction, I looked at it and said “nope! We’re getting that remanufactured as soon as possible!” Lol I surprised myself I little bit
Thanks for the pointers. A fully restored old iron is a winner, like a Farmall M.
Note to self: replace drawbar before selling the tractor.
Nice video, keep these type of videos coming. Look forward to more like this
Check the brakes and scope a cylinder. Take a sample of oil from engine and trans and have it analyzed.
Check the oil for possible coolant!!
And inspect the oil filter and crankcase for metal flakes and parts! Also, don't forget to do a compression test on all the cylinders.
That's a sweet lookin ride
How's she goin'? Great tips and suggestions for things to look for with shopping!!!
wow nice tractor
Spent many hours on my uncle’s 1206 Farmall. It looks great. I don’t remember lights on the fenders and by the steering wheel. The tractor should have the number of hours on the RPM/mph gauge.
Ive bought and restored a few tractors
Versatile offset disk
A big tip an old mechanic told me, on anything, car, truck, tractor, new, old, original, or restored. Pull the dipstick! If you find metal shavings, run or buy it dirt cheap. If it's clean oil, move on to cracking the drain plug. Oil will tell you alot that you can't see
Sweet...
Very nice unit!
Clutch pedal never lies. I look at the pedals. If clutch is almost slick, a d brake pedals are like new, I know it did a lot of field, clutch work. If all pedals are near perfect, then you know it either had a good life, or was used mostly on belt work which tells you rear end and finals are like new.
Don't forget to check underneath the seat for gum !!!
Lol , I love this channel but this was more of a guide for thieves than it was buyers , a compression and vacuum test are great places to start. Steering gear , clutch adjustment position and gear play in the rear are all easy things to check without disassembly.
Farm boy in 60s and 70s as youngster . Two Tractors Farmall and White with wide front . I remember water leaking from the rear treads ?
Rare Form , they may have filled the rear tires with a brine solution to add weight for traction.
Great information... thank you for sharing this with us. 🚜👍
Looks nice
Kinda strange that he missed an obvious detail, either that tractor came with clamshell fenders and has been changed to flat top, or some butcher drilled holes to mount lights on the hood sides. 1206’s came one way or the other, either hood or fender lights, not both.
Nice to know about the not so obvious things that have been changed whether they were done well or just added and rigged up to be eye candy and cause wiring problems later. Our newest tractor was a 606 International Utility. I don't know if they were all Utility or if they made a row crop too. Good eye for what offered originally.
Did you also notice the 1206 decals!!!!!!!
@@bradrynes525 early '65 1206 had those decals.
@@bradrynes525 I am the second owner of a 1206 same decals mine is completely original but for tires
Actually Sir you are not 100% correct either as a 1206 was never offered with a clam shell fenders that was only the 706 and 806. However you are correct it would not have had the fenders and those side lights. The only way a 1206 came with those lights was if it had a factory Cab or was ordered as a fender delete tractor from the factory. Some guys would order as a Fender delete to install different cabs or would mount a corn picker on a machine. My bets is that it was a Cab tractor.
Much better without the music 💯👍
Did a 1206 come with an alternator? Just asking
Yes
The farm i worked on they had a 1206 and the reverse kept going out on it. Good tractor other then that
Check oils and filters. Most clean and paint without servicing.
the more you look, the more you see wrong.
letter series had factory oval drawbar hole
well the 1206 came from the factory with a straight pipe.
Lots of these " restorations" amount to unsticking the engine, painting it, new tires and a coat of lipstick on a pig. You didnt go through the transmission and final drives? Strike 1. In frame overhaul on a 50 plus year old tractor? Strike 2. No record of what you did including photos and invoices? Strike 3. Sorry but that isnt any kind of restoration, its closer to a painted up lawn ornament.
If the clutch petal is wore smooth, break the wanna be operators foot. Sooner see the brake petals smooth.
