    Hi thank you for this video. I just want to know about the supplemental application is it like questions to answer in this application or do we have to write any personal statement or essay. I have been working in nursing home full time from last two years. Do I have to submit something from my employer regarding experience letter. I am just confused how the supplemental application @ubc because Its nothing mention like essay. Please reply me back and explain. Really appreciate!!

    Hey! Thank you so much for posting this🙏 You definitely answered a lot of my questions. I was looking at the schedule they posted online, and it showed that students had clinical over the weekend, was that the case for you?
    Also, did you get to choose where they placed you for clinical sessions? Did they take into account the distance between your address and the hospitals where u have to do the clinicals?

    • @Vincent-ft3ll
      @Vincent-ft3ll  Před 2 lety

      You'll have to rank all the placements by preference. Some of them are weekend and some of them are weekdays. I really don't know how they assign placements but it's really up to chance whether you get weekend or weekdays. Maybe for preceptorship in the last term they will try to take into account the distance (not exactly sure), but for clinical in other terms I don't think they really take the distance into account.

    Are the nursing labs difficult at UBC? Are you graded after each lab?

    • @Vincent-ft3ll
      @Vincent-ft3ll  Před 3 lety +1

      Nursing labs aren't too difficult. The environment is more that they want us to practice and learn. They took out assessment of our lab skills due to COVID. Since we are going back to in person in September, they may put back the assessments.

    hello!! i browsed through ubc’s website and saw that BSN takes approximately 20 months only?? i’m kinda confused 😬

    • @Vincent-ft3ll
      @Vincent-ft3ll  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes. It is an accelerated BSN program so it is 20 months. The prerequisites require that you already have completed some undergraduate credits already. Most of the cohort already has a previous degree completed. I have completed a previous degree as well. UBC Okanagan offers a regular 3 year program that has entry from high school.

    Thank you so much!!! For this video this is gold! I’m taking some courses in Winnipeg, I took a writing class and I’m taking human anatomy,psychology,kin and I am aware of 48 non nursing credits. I’m not sure if my courses can be transferred to ubc and if they will get accepted..If you can guide me with some information that would be wonderful

      Similar to other courses (exams, papers, quizzes). For clinical, it is pass or fail.

    I had a question, can high school students not directly apply for nursing at ubc at the Vancouver campus ? and do you know why that is not allowed because it seems dumb. Thank you for the info !

    • @Vincent-ft3ll
      @Vincent-ft3ll  Před 2 lety +1

      High school students cannot apply directly to UBC Nursing at the Vancouver campus. The nursing program at UBC Vancouver is a second degree program meaning prior undergraduate credits are required. UBC Okanagan offers direct entry from high school. Also the UBC Vancouver Nursing program is an accelerated program, meaning it is completed over 20 months. Direct entry from high school programs usually take 3 years.

    What did you major in for your science undergrad? Did you find your science undergrad harder than nursing?

    • @Vincent-ft3ll
      @Vincent-ft3ll  Před 2 lety

      I majored in Anatomy & Cell Biology at McGill. I don't think the content in nursing is harder than science undergrad. However, the focus is more on application in nursing than memorization in science. What may be difficult is the accelerated nature of this program and having lectures and clinical every single week may sometimes be exhausting.

    • @Vincent-ft3ll
      @Vincent-ft3ll  Před 2 lety

      @@orissa1212Yes I still have time for self-care hobbies and a social life. It is actually encouraged to weekly do something to relax because we all need the rest. Since it is an accelerated program, you learn a lot over a short period of time. Other programs are usually 3 years whereas this program is 20 months. There is a lot of self-teaching. In the first term, I really felt that we were thrown into clinical so quickly. However, it's important to work with your classmates and help each other out when needed.
      The averages have been very high every semester. It is not difficult to maintain a high GPA if you put the work into it.

    Hi, I know this program is very competitive. I wonder if there is any thing that I can do to improve the chance of getting enrolled. Because I don’t have any healthcare related studying or working experience. And I’m already 36. I will graduate from UBC 1 year graduate program in this August. And apply for PR. I want to use the time wisely and see if it possible for applying 2023 entry. Thanks for reading this msg.

      Hello! When you take the CASPer test, make sure you study and prepare for the test thoroughly. Research strategies, do practice questions, and make sure your typing speed is fast. CASPer is an important part of the application process. It's okay if you don't have any healthcare experience! I think it may be great for your application if you have some sort of activity (work, extracurricular, volunteer, etc) that you do consistently that helps the community while strengthening your own personal and professional development.
