- I actually, genuinely, want to hear what people, who always say that BP always does the same thing, have to say in this one? Because, I don't know you but I was not expecting them to keep "La campanella" for almost the entirety of the song? The finesse and the classiness, the noble and expensive vibes that this song exudes is not something I was expecting! I feel like it's the first time in a very long time that I have been surprised by one of their song! The MV and comeback always have something surprising and shocking but the structure of the song and the delivery is something we've gotten used to to some degree. However this one (while we can argue the structure remains similar) the delivery is so much more refined but still savage and aggressive very them in the confidence and attitude. But the violin from that classical piece was surprising in a very good way. It almost felt like an ad, for BP, from BP, by BP directed to the haters and I loved it. The balls to re-use some sets from the past MV to call out people saying they're always recycling sounds?! Love it!
The references is also a testament to their career and how much they've accomplished and how far they've come! That makes me super proud!
I really really enjoyed this, I don't know how it will grow on me but I am excited to see how exactly!

The lyrics express they never went away, says bye to the haters who constantly demand unreasonable stuff and the MV references their roots and rewards the TRUE fans who appreciated all the beginnings and support them regardless. This Title track was not meant to be a banger but a VIBE.

Shutdown is absolutely a song to their haters and they play it off in such a cool stylish way. By referencing their previous music videos based on sharing set elements or simply having a poster to almost every single title track and B-side that they have released either as a group or as a solo artist. I couldn't find every song referenced, but there is a hell of a lot of them.

Like, it seems to me that when people look at BP and see pretty outfits and sets and whatnot, that they forget, how much they are actually tied to hip hop, the dirty, gritty old school hip hop. It is very much part of their identity, like, they didn't choose YG for nothing. I'm sure it is part of their own vision of music too.

as someone who was beginning to feel like a lot of BP's comebacks recently are very similar in vibe, my thoughts on this are that i'm so happy!! the girls are so incredibly talented, and i'm so relieved that they've finally given us something new! the song is a banger (as to be expected), and the MV making callbacks to their previous MVs was such an awesome touch!

I have this theory that the featured mv scenes from their past mvs means born pink, because they were born during the Square Era - they were born pink. And the KTL & The Album expresses their sadness of loosing someone, giving up someone, and feeling down because of haters.
Now with Born Pink, it's reminding the haters, the one who hurt them that they're strong and happy because they were born pink - back to Square Era.
Also, the Born Pink album ends with The Happiest Girl - which also expresses sadness but at the same time they're now happy without "him", Tally, they finally became stronger, and lastly Ready for Love - they're ready for new Love, it's time to move on.

points that i reallyy like from shut down is the fact that this song doesn't feel like the usual kpop music that we've heard these past few years. it's old heavy hip hop, it is the type of music the girls trained with. watching their netflix documentary again few months ago reminds me of that. there's a scene where jennie talked about the type of music she used to do back then in their trainee days. and i like the fact that that they brought it back. also the fact that the song is sampled from a classical music and pink venom has korean traditional music layered into it? its what i've been searching for. something new, not mainstream. the references to their past mvs are also such a sweet nostalgia to the fans. i just love this one so much.
