      Bought this a month and a bit ago. Wife and I love it to bits. Taxes your brain but wonderfully strategic and the product just feels like it was made with a lot of love and thoughtfulness. Love it and highly recommend it to others looking for a deeply strategic experience

      We just got the game yesterday. Hoping to play it soon although the balancing that you mentioned is something to be aware of since we mainly play 2-players.

      I love this game: great and novel theme (for boardgaming), tight economic euro without bloat/b.s., lots to think about when playing but simple worker placement mechanic avoids
      AP.
      The 3rd edition is a straight up improvement with great art (and an excellent rulebook). The KS exclusives were not gameplay related (there was a promo that adds a gameplay variant and there was a page of bundled scenarios which are downloadable for other variants). I don't think people lose out by getting the retail copy.
      Like all economic games, there isn't a comeback mechanic, but it's not abusive the way FCM is (and becomes a total beatdown like a sadistic game of Monopoly). Instead it ends, but it doesn't end "just as it gets interesting" like many economic games that avoid that kind of abuse.
      I would like more randomness (like it'd be interesting if all the cards/awards wouldn't be played each session), and it is a bit heavy/long for it to hit most of my (pre-pandemic) game night groups.
      This story alone sells the game IMO: boardgamegeek.com/blogpost/92301/gdj-never-my-life-i-was-so-close-heart-attack

    I RARELY subscribe to any channel on CZcams simply because I'm not huge fan of notifications. Your videos' quality is so good that I was considering subscribing and the Klingon subtitles to this video did the final push. I'm curious who who did the "haha" ? :D
    Oh! Also, I should say that the quality of your playthroughs is up there with Rahdo's... I saw you two on his channel when you did the Filler top 10 together ;)

    I'm glad Ignacy stuck with the original theme and didn't switch it to video game development as he was thinking, but I don't think this one is for me - it's really busy visually and I didn't hear a "wow, it feels like you're in the fashion industry!" from you guys. Looks on the fiddly side.
    Loving the content you guys tackle! Keep up the good work.

    • @BeforeYouPlay
      @BeforeYouPlay  Před 4 lety

      LOL yes, the theme is cool but no, it doesn't make you feel like you're in the fashion industry. It definitely is visually busy, probably one of the first things we thought when we saw the board too. Thanks for watching!

    This game just spoke to me. Not a fashion guy by any means, but the game itself looked great. I picked up the Kickstarter and have played it a handful of times. Need to get it back out soon.

    • @TheNerdShelves
      @TheNerdShelves Před 4 lety +3

      Games usually speak to me because of mechanics more than theme. For example, I think Biblios is just brilliant, but monks collecting books isn't really interesting to me 😂

    Thank you for the video guys. I haven’t seen this game covered that much but Sas you pointed out, it is a pretty interesting game in some aspects. I got it out of curiosity for the unusual theme and after watching a video that struck me with its streamlined gameplay. Unfortunately I haven’t had many chances to play it, but it’s definitely on my to-play list. As for not being able to know how good you and other players are faring in terms of victory point, it’s quite like what happens in Scythe, where the game actually tells you don’t even dare try to calculate scores during play 😅

      I can not see that the Fashion show is really pushed by the game. It looks like the Theme could be anything. In his first fashion show he was even presenting 2 times the same Jacket/Guy/style/Card what ever. A real pitty, but I guess it is very hard to do this, because fashion is about taste.
      Anyone who knows the KS Canvas, knows this. Ther is lso beatiful art included and you build a real picture with the cards, but at the end it is just looking at points.
      Here it seems the same.

    Would you try out more Portal Games? Their card driven games are especially good at 2p count and Robinson Crusoe is one of my all time favorites - would like to see you suffer together on the island (nah kidding - just you, Monique will chill at the beach while you do the exploring, hunting and building ;) )

    Curious the first player token gets switched when? Seems like it shoulda switched after 2nd round? Before the show 3rd round? Otherwise the same person is first player for each show?

    • @mavweirdo
      @mavweirdo Před 2 lety

      They never switched it during the fashion show months. If they had then who started and ended each season would switch for 2 players.on the other hand, doing that would work less well for 3 or 4 player game.

  • @tychay
    @tychay Před 4 lety +1

    19:25 I find it easier to add the accountants bonus to the income marker instead of retrying to remember to apply it every upkeep phase.
    29:14 I assume you remember to collect two quality tokens later? One of the most difficult to remember things is the buying of material. It helps to checklist 3 things: pay, collect resources, collect quality tokens.
    1:57:57 there are other games about clothing or art, but I don’t know another about the fashion industry.
    1:58:50 technically it’s the kickstarter edition, not deluxe. It looks like you used the retail 1st player marker. Besides the alt art cards, the other changes are thicker cardboard (why there was box lift when shipped), wooden tokens in place of cardboard, some screen printing on the materials tokens, a printed out version of the other scenarios.

    • @BeforeYouPlay
      @BeforeYouPlay  Před 4 lety +1

      Ahhh thank you! Lots of great points of clarification here. Yes, we really struggled during this playthrough with remembering to take our tokens, etc. I think all of the quality tokens were eventually taken, but there was definitely a spot where I forgot the materials I purchased and that is HUGE lol. Also my mistake, so there you go. That makes sense, KS edition!

    Howmuch do you think you are really making a fashion show? The Fashion you are making seem to be irrelevant as long as they are of your tipe and the same colour/type. Where is the mechanic to push realy the quality and style of the fashion? Am I missing something, would love to love this game.
