Doing gods work. Lots of folk getting into film these days because of Portra so this will be incredibly useful for a lot of people.

I have lots of Portra 160 and 800, no 400 because it wasn't in stock for a really long time after my wife decided she wanted to shoot in colour.
What, if any is the difference? It's nicely in the middle of 160 to 800 after all, and she's used 160 for some really nice twilight photography.
I ask because in spite of it being put on sale fairly often by the place we buy our film it's still not cheap and we have a *lot* of those other two speeds in our freezer.

So the difference, basically, is grain. The spectral sensitivity is pretty darn close on each and Kodak developed all three films to have a near-identical look.

@@DavidHancock Thanks, She doesn't mind the grain on 800 and I can't tell the difference since I have no experience with colour film, so I guess it doesn't matter. It all looks messy to me. Maybe this will change, but I'll start with a cheaper stock myself for colour.
