Mint is still my goto distro when I want a quick Linux setup that "just works". Much as I enjoy distros like Solus for their performance in comparison.
Im currently trying Arch. I manually installed it cause i wanted to learn, after 14 hours and 5 attempts (no kidding) i managed. This forced me to learn a lot of stuff, i went from knowing nothing about linux or how a computer boots to slightly understand the procceses, file structure, mounting and dismounting, privileges and users. I still have a lot to learn, like to compile custom software, understand my desktop mánager (KDE) better, security, drivers and a lot more.
I had the least problems with debian, best for me was arch thought because of the software/apps options. Currently using chrome flex, void and mxlinux.
Seems like a lot of bloat for basically 4 flatpaks. Steam, heroic, lutris, protonupqt. I ended up switching when it bricked it's update ability due to a random incompatibility.
i love linux hope someday getting easier to troubleshoot hdmi or audio issues but for laptop is easier to install linux less problem than on linux pc hardware recognation hardware

Unfortunately, I had to stop using GNU (or not GNU)/Linux/(with or without) Systemd distros simply because playing videos from Amazon's Prime Video has terrible quality. The best possible quality is only available for Windows and Apple.
I was given a laptop with a dead hard drive so I run the computer off a USB drive and can save every thing to a external drive. That means I can run different versions of Linux.
@@m-vendoreh, majority of games work with proton and the ones that don't use kernel level anti-cheats which are pretty much RATs. If you really want to play those games, you could do a gpu passthrough vm or have a small windows drive/partition on the side.

I just installed Mint for the first time yesterday. I chose Linux Mint, Cinnamon Edge edition (supports the latest cutting edge hardware). After the initial install, for example, there's a setup wizard that allows you to quickly change the look, check for driver updates, update the OS and install other programs.
That's exactly why the laptop I gave my parents had either peppermint or mint. No tinkering required. Grumpy old people can use it to complain on Facebook about all of the kids that won't get off their yard

Saying a distro is bad because the Gui it comes with (youre right that Gnome (de that Fedora comes with) is bad though) is not really fair, because you can customize everything. also, the waifu loving part of the arch community is pretty small, its just that the waifu lovers are the ones that are showing off their fixes everywhere (still a big portion of the arch community is pretty weird)
Chrome OS is crap, it's only useful for schools providing cheap hardware for students. There's hardly any storage since everything is run on the web. Most importantly, it's Google have fun having your entire experience be tracked by them.
I'm surprised Zorin OS (also a Linux distro) wasn't mentioned. Is there a reason Zorin OS wasn't mentioned? Zorin OS is supposed to run out the box with minimal tinkering if any (should be very easy working with drivers as I think mostly everything you need comes bundled into it anyway) even with Wine bundled into it to be able to run windows apps. Also mint has mint cinnamon, mint Mate and mint Xfce. The specific flavor of mint wasn't mentioned in the video so I'm guessing cinnamon or Mate if the computer is older or battery on a laptop should be saved?

I'm guessing that's a side effect of Nvidia purposely bricking their drivers on Linux. AMD works fine even streaming at 4k
