I love the fact that this kid is a real mechanic. He fixes things, and he also fixes transmission. Normally, a mechanic wouldn't know how to rebuild a transmission.
Youre definitely right but you know damn well this kid is just telling us what hes been told. Hes not the owner.
@trev119 To be honest he sounds like he knows what he is talking about.
Can also be theory and no practice but you can’t tell unless you’re there. As a master tech I do it all far as rebuild, diagnose and troubleshooting, etc but if you love what you do it’s all doable. Keep wrenching 🔧
Pretty sure he’s a tech at a ford dealer
@@trev119 that’s a dumbass take
Seein that fluid let me know it’s toast.
For those of us in the rust states, the TCM corrodes and then all sorts of weird symptoms occur ultimately resulting only Rev & 5th. Ask me how I know.
How do you know this?
I can smell the video 😂
I've got to give it to Ford, the 6R140 does hold up pretty long to neglect and abuse. We have a fleet of F250's and 350's workbodies and the drivers are never nice to them but I've only had to replace one in four years of working for this fleet.
It will never cease to amaze me how strong transmission gears are. I mean the contact point is tiny between each gear and they’re able to take so much abuse, especially from American trucks
I was in the transmission business for 15 yrs. Most of the rebuilds I did was to correct the manufacturer defects. When those vehicles rolled out of my shop they were better than new!! Damn I miss those days!!! But I've moved on to bigger and better things!!! I have All the respect for you dude!!! A master mechanic is far and few!!!
Folks, service your auto trans every 20K miles or sooner. Look at that " oil " wayy cheaper than buying a transmission. If towing a cooler and service at 10K
You expect people to worry about their transmission oil when some diesel customers get confused with putting gas in their diesel tank? 😂
Now to find a way to hook one of those to my 7.3 in my 97. That’d be a nice upgrade!!
You could probably get a 6speed Allison to work.
@@connor4961 yea but I don’t really care for them. Prefer to stay more brand loyal. Just me being picky! Not that an Allison isn’t a good trans if built up properly.
@@glenmiller3333 I was just mentioning Allison because I think they used to run Allison’s behind the 7.3 in school buses.
Do you work on Chevys too? I'd like to see more of the 4l80e breakdowns. I read in to a lot of different issues with them but I truly believe they are a good trans if operated correctly
The factory service manual for my 1993 FCV and 1994 FTB say change fluid and filter every 50000km. AODE and 4RW70 sudder at 150K
change fluid and filter. On the AODE I confirmed it by setting the cruise at 80km/h and pressing the OD off switch 10 times and the problem went away and returned shortly afterwards.
Obviously burnt clutches. You had the right idea in the beginning. Yes replace the burnt clutches and you still havent fixed the cause.
If that’s 200,000 miles doin hot shots that ain’t bad.. if it’s 200,000 miles of regular driving it’s terrible
Dodge can't make it to 50k
Hahah but for real these Ford trannies last way longer most go 300k no issues I've never heard of people having real issues with them
most of these work trucks are run by idiots at work purposely trying to make the boss pay 😅..i know a few!
I have fixed transmission issues in my cars. 4RW70 Changed fluid and filter. 150K. Retorqed valve body bolts 200K. The first 4 bolt in the torque sequence were loose allowing internal leakage between the passages. I figured this out because I had an
AODE that I kept from my the previous car I had. I took it apart and found the valve body gasket had rust on it where the passage walls were at the beginning of the torque sequence. About 6" in diameter from the center.
REBUILT an A4LD and it had same problem so weird.
Where can you buy a overhaul kit for the 6r140s
4T65E atf comes out black all the time and the torque converter struck off! Still works though 😂
What’s the cost for the repair like that? Keep the videos coming
Anyway you think if you manually shifted it at lower rpm that the 1-2 would last longer
Cma’s ford quoted me 1500 for a rear diff clutch pack job, sound about right?
Curious what you recommend for fluid service interval on the 6R140 vs what Ford says ..??
How about banging into 5th, took it to the dealer three times, they claim not to be able to reproduce the issue??
Why would a worn clutch cause hard shifts that doesn't make sense the only thing is if the computer is doing it im not saying it didn't need to be rebuilt
Worn clutches can create excessive clutch pack clearance causing harsh shifts
I have a 17 with no issues at all with the transmission, I have been throwing some power at it lately and I’m looking for an upgraded transmission that can handle around 700hp, I heard to stay away from revmax, ATS, Suncoast’s and Randy’s. Every local shop says get a new transmission from ford but that makes no sense. My transmission is fine just looking for an upgrade path. Same with the whole drive line, rear end , transfer case , drive shaft etc. No one can agree that anything is any good online so I’m lost
Deleted and tuned? Or stock HP?
From what I hear if the TCM tuning is on point those will hold a lot of power! If not, they won’t last long.
dont know if i will get a response, but what if the fluid is cherry red, and it’s just rough shifting from 1-6? downshifts are butter
Just put of curiosity. What's the mileage on this thing
Iknow-who ceramic brake disc (Problem solver) might have some composite 3D printing customers may need or & WANT
Electric F150s don't have this problem.
How much does that cost
Mmmm maple syrup fluid.
Jack rabbit take offs , people think these transmissions are indestructible.
indescribable transmissions need oil change too, human error.
Or.... don't buy Ford...
Ford for a work horse, anything else if you wanna look cute for the boys
That looks like garbage car
