    I’m one week post-surgery. It really was no big deal. Very little pain after surgery (only needed a couple Tylenol the first night). It’s somewhat like having a cold for the first week: sore throat from surgery tube for two days, nose stuffed for a week, can’t blow your nose or sneeze. Flush with saline rinse every day. I can breath so much better- totally worth the minor discomfort

    Thanks so much for posting this, girl! Very informative. I'm actually getting surgery soon, too. I am wondering if you could explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that freaks me out!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!

    • @deborahnicastro
      @deborahnicastro  Před 5 lety +8

      Not a probem! Glad i could help you, ohh wow! One major thing i would say is not to get worried about it too much, cause i was ecxactly like you and what was freaking me out the most was the anasthetic! But there was nothing to worry about at all cause they know what they are doing! Yes so what basically happened was i was bought into a room where there was a bed i had to lay on, once i was on there they put a blanket over my legs. Then as they were talking to me, they put the needle in the top of my hand which i didn't even feel a pinch lmao😂Once they put the needle in, they then attach to the IV which is basically medication to help with the pain ( as they actually started doing this they were like okay so this is the happy juice lmao) which i didnt really feel much either. The IV already made me a bit sleepy and made my vision blurry. After that they put a mask over your mouth with oxygen just to help me breathe, but it was super funny cause as i had a mask on my face they wouldnt stop talking to me and asking questions and i was just like internally can you just stop talking to me, i just wanna go asleep!😂Shortly after that i didnt even notice but in the IV they injected it with the anasthesia, the one thing out of everything is that once it went into your blood stream you felt like a burning sensation which started with my hand then went all the way up to my brain. Its not that painful but just a little uncomfortable. Lastly the last thing i remember was the nurse saying that i should start counting down, i legit got to like 8 and i was trying to stay awake but that didn't work whatsover! So basically it happened gradually and not all of a sudden, the next thing that happened that i remember was me just being in and out of sleep after the operation in a room with nurses. I hope this helps answer your questions and i hope the operation goes well for you!✨

It’s just an awkwardly uncomfortable procedure. Worst and best part was removing the splints. Omg. I can breathe so much better I feel reborn. Still getting used to all the air flow I get with breathing. The crust is annoying at times , my noise is still healing . It aches and throbs sometimes, but mostly itches . Due to healing . I'm sorry that I am so curious, but you said that they discovered the deviation when you made a visit to see about headaches? Will those also stop now, or are the two unrelated and the discovery was just a consequence of checking on the headaches?

    • @deborahnicastro
      @deborahnicastro  Před 5 lety +1

      Not a problem, that was an excellent question! Yes they discovered the deviation when I had an ENT appointment to see if maybe the headaches were related to sinuses but after a MRI scan that came out all clear! Both the headaches and the deviation are unrelated to each other and this operation that I just got done won’t help minimise the pain of my headaches (has got nothing to do with the headaches basically)! I actually recently found out the headaches that i am getting is supposedly migraine related! Hope this is clear😊

However I definitely do think if you wanted that to be an option they would definitely tell you all the options you have if that makes sense! My issue was that this surgery was through the NHS which meant I didn't pay for it, so I believe if I wanted to a cosmetic surgery as well it would be a completely different story (meaning I would have to pay). I have now started the route of going private and with my new surgeon reviewing my previous scans that were taken by the NHS have confirmed I have a substantial blockage resulting from my septum. I know you posted this a very long time ago now but still. lol
    I watched your whole video!
    I will be having the same thing, I have had sinus issues for 8 + half very long years-and whenever I did bring up about sinus issues not one of them mentioned about a CT/X-ray scan but when I had an MRI scan it did show my right side of my nose was perforated but nothing was said about that but about no tumours etc! 😡
    BTW-I'm also from the UK in England so will be having th is all done via the NHS, Anyway had all these appointments cancelled due to Covid which was super annoying and would get burning sensation through my nose constantly for years-had my CT scan had my results from telephone today and said I have a cyst/Polyp in my right nostril under my eye and a misaligned septum!
    So he was booking that and should be ready to sort out in a couple of months. 😁
    I knew burning sensation was due to sinus infection but as it was constant for years and didn't go then knew that the crooked septum interferes with drainage of mucus from the sinuses into the nasal cavity, this can be a prime environment for bacteria to grow, leading to repeated episodes of infection and inflammation in these spaces!
    Where in England you from- I'm in Kent between Dartford/Bexleyheath way!
    Prob have it done at Queen Mary's Hospital-Sidcup!

      @@Licentiapoetica Very long story short, had to be cancelled as a locum GP gave me Cipro antibiotics for what she thought was a UTI or Enlarged Prostate!
      And didn't look at my notes on what I would normally take for UTI which is either: amoxicillin/trimethoprim and got rather serious side-effects like: swelling in chest/wrists and joint narrowing etc
      I have been waiting for my rheumatology appt for months due to Covid.
      But once that is done, will now be having instead: a balloon sinuplasty and then once I healed from that will have Eustachian tube balloon dilatation due to my having blocked ears all via local anaesthetic which I'm really pleased about!
      + when I swallow they both click/pop everyday and have a ringing in my ears every few days due to my chronic sinus infection!
      They were going to do reduce turbinates via radio frequency so they could get into my sinuses
      . But another ENT said take these sprays which will do the trick which they have: Dymista /Rinaspray took over 5 weeks to shrink back to normal as had very enlarged turbinates hence why they needed them back to normal size to get into my sinuses so should be getting this sorted out early next year now.
      As for my septum, which is a mild deviation. Been told can have that on a local as well and also light sedation if I wanted. So again really happy not going on GA.
      All depends where you go. As I know some hospitals only do that balloon sinuplasty on GA as later found out as they get more money if done this way which is unfair.
      As it is minimally invasive surgery anyway!

      Everything is completely healed, both inside and outside my nose! I am still very happy and appreciative that I got it done and got no regrets about the surgery! If you have any other questions just let me know💫

      @@everydayeasyrecipes2650 I already noticed a difference in my breathing second week post op! There was a massive difference straight away, especially smelling things!

    My surgery is on the 21st and I’m so excited!! I was told not to eat hot food after, did you find that? And how long did you have to wear the moustache bandage for?

    Just had mine done.. did you lose sense of taste and smell?

    • @deborahnicastro
      @deborahnicastro  Před 3 lety +1

      No I didn’t, the only thing I struggled with was eating and that I couldn’t breathe through my nose at all so I couldn’t really taste the food too well. But after a week it all cleared up and went back to normal! Hope it’s gone well for you!

      Nope my side profile hasn’t changed at all! All the work they done was inside my nose😊

      Deborah Nicastro my doctor said I need to do this operation but my main concerns are my nose will look worse and my voice will change😅💔

      Mimi No I completely understand what your saying, I was scared and concerned about the same thing! But honestly after doing it it's so worth it and hasn't changed anything at all with my appearance or the way I talk! Actually it's made my life so much easier especially now that I can breathe so clearly out of my nose and as well when I have colds! Hope this helps😊
