    I'm working on this kit now and there are some fit issues with it. The side hatches being one of them along with the barrel which does not align with the breech assembly. Once it's all assembled, it won't be noticeable and, the crew members I have for it will be sitting in the open hatches and block the interior view of the breech which takes care of both issues. It is an impressive model and I'm enjoying building it, but you do need to be careful in following the instructions which can be vague regarding locations of some parts. Andy's video build on this kit was helpful on several which I referred to several times. I would certainly consider buying another due to the various decal schemes you can use.

    I got into model kits via a 1/16th scale prebuilt tiger I saw. Grandpa decided to get me a 28mm tiger and despite me having the build and paint it I loved it. Still always wanted to pick up a large tank. I might just need to pick one of these up :)

    That's a good looking kit. Back in the 80's and 90's I made the Tamiya 1/16th scale RC model tanks just to get large scale models. A bit expensive though and there were a lot of compromises for the RC to work. I also have the 1/15 scale Bandai Tiger 1, Panzer & Stug IV and Hummel kits that they did back in the day. I even got another Stug IV to convert to a Stug III. The other old large kit is the Imai 1/16 Elephant. I got one back in the early 90's but they are very rare and expensive kits now.
    I was just wondering how this kit sits if you want working suspension. If it needs some weights then I think Das Werk should either supply them or advise on the weight required (say using batteries).

    • @nooneimportant666
      @nooneimportant666 Před 2 lety

      The suspension doesn’t actually work properly due to extremely tight fit tolerances… I’m building this kit at the moment and it’s genuinely horrible to work on

    I have used a few odd tools while building my models.
    Never have I used a level.
    I think if I build one (very possible) I will want the suspension to be operational.
    That opens up display options for the tank.

    • @nooneimportant666
      @nooneimportant666 Před 2 lety

      I’m building it at the moment and unfortunately the fit tolerances on the kit doesn’t allow for the suspension to work.
      None of the workable features of the kit actually work how they’re supposed to except for the tracks.
      It’s not a very enjoyable build at all in all honesty and has some incredibly stupid engineering on it.
      Sad really because it’s my favourite variant of my favourite tank so I had to get it,,,,,, I just wish people would be more honest with their build reviews because I wouldn’t have bought it had I known what a pile of junk to build it really is.

    I kinda think Tamiya also makes a 1/16th scale Pkmpfwgn 4 , I would rather support Tamiya personally, made in Japan is the best....

      Don’t blame you buddy. I’m building this pz3 kit at the moment and it’s a piece of junk.
      Nothing fits or works like it’s supposed to, and I feel I’ve been mugged for the £122 asking price.
      Avoid at all costs if possible

    I have no interest in 1/16th scale. I stick to 1/24th, nothing else.

    I’m building this kit at the moment and had no idea it’d be such a piece of junk!
    When you built the test models, why the hell didn’t you tell them about all the tight tolerances that make all the workable parts un workable? And about the ridiculously huge sprue gates and excessive mould lines/burring, badly warped hull and generally a not very enjoyable build at all .
    I’ve honestly never felt so ripped off in my life!
    2/10 for build enjoyment and definitely not worth over £120
