"BOOM STOWED, LEAVING POSITION."
Randy Johnson why didn’t you stay in for the 20 and get a pension?

Nice! This is actually the job I want when I get in. Its at the too of the list the recruiter gave me.
Hey randy is that a good job?
I was a sp 8yrs hated that job, told my son to be a boomer.
I was in the 22 AMS at March from 1983-1988 myself -- retired MSgt here. Keep 'em flying boys!
KC-10 Crew Chief. 81-85 Barksdale AFB ACFT 0713 and 0075. To this day the best job I ever had.
Thanks for your service, John!!!
I should know you. I was on 0434.
@@stevenevans5106 Jon Taylor. I was on 0713 with JD Lawrence then on 0075 with Mick Majors.
@@AugustWest23 How the hell are you? Been a long time. I got out after 8 years. How long were you in? Steve.
@@stevenevans5106 3 yrs, 9 mo, 12 days. Got out on a force reduction just before the SP's came to arrest me.
Pretty cool, this plane can fly forever. It just needs to refuel itself everytime 🤘🏻😎
Old C-141 pilot. Getting gas of the -10 was great! It was more stable and you could pretty much get lost back there and stay within the boom envelope. Good work guys.
So this is one KC-10 refueling another.
I spent two years in Thailand during the Vietnam War and we had B-52's and KC-135's going out regularly and later coming back. The KC-135's was refueling both the fighters and bombers going to and coming back from their missions and for every 6 bombers which went out there was 6 tankers also going out and I wondered if they was just refueling the aircraft from our base, but later found that they was also refueling all the aircraft in our inventory.
Hey Sidney, thanks for your service. What years were you in Thailand and what base? My father was the Wing Material Control Officer with the 553 Recon Wing and was there from 24SEP69 to 04NOV70 at Korat RTAFB. He then went to Scott as NAF Director of Supply, HQ ARRS.
God job guys ! Congratulations !
KC-10A Crew Chief here, Barksdale AFB 1991-1994, go 84-0188!
I was a KC-10 Instructor Boom Operator from 1986-1999. I'm looking at this video and all i am saying is... Where the rest of the I.A.K. (Increased Accommodation's Kit)... (the extra seats)
Randy Johnson
Probably a dumb question, but can the tanker use fuel from the same load as they dispense? I know, but I was a National Guard armor crewman, so this is foreign ground. :>)
Randy Johnson thank you both for your service
tom7601
Yes, it can. It can pump fuel from one tank to another.
Randy Johnson it's called a J-config no cargo or pax for fuel conservation training only
The kc10 looks so much better than the 135 ://
I’ve always wondered what these aircraft look like inside. I’m guessing the raised floor they’re walking on is the top of the tank, and the rear bulkhead is the grey wall at the boom operator station? Also, if I may ask a stupid question, does the tanker itself tap into that fuel supply to keep itself airborne longer, or does it bring its own fuel that once it uses, that’s it? Do these aircraft still store fuel in the wings and the centre wing box in the same (or similar) way that they would if they were some other configuration like a freighter, transport or airliner?
Thanks in advance for indulging my curiosity.
Fuel is fuel is fuel.....use it or offload it. The further you go the less you have to offload. Tanks are in the wings and lower fuselage fore and aft. With the KC10 you also can take fuel on inflight from another tanker, KC135 or KC10. With the SR71 they burn a different fuel, so you isolate some tanks for that. The KC10 can burn that fuel if needed. Flew them from 1981 to 1994. 135s from 1967 to 1980.
They aren't separated. It uses the same fuel it offloads.
I always hoped to fly on one of these for a tdy but such was not to be, I only saw one when one landed at my base and I checked it out.
that's alot more comfortable than being down in the KC135 pit
Wow amazing so cool plan refuling up inthe air wonderful view you guys excellent !👍✈️🇺🇸🇺🇸😎
Good job! Like this flights!
0:18 bowling alley anybody?
It’s actually a airplane
Mike Brink No it’s a bowling alley
@@bderrick4944 A bowling alley in an airplane
I understand the economics behind why the Air Force want to get rid of these but as far as I’m aware, they are the only aircraft in the world that can both give and receive fuel. Basically these aircraft can stay airborne indefinitely theoretically in time of mass conflict you can have one of these over a critical place and just continuously feed it fuel from a KC 46 or whatever else that way your fighters and bombers never have to worry about running out of gas and the less capable tankers can work just to keep the KC 10s in the air
Am I the only who thought that there would be some fuel tanks inside the fuselage?
Guess the fuel is stored in tanks below the freight floor shown and that the freight floor can be used for transporting other items on different missions ? Can it be used to refuel the president's Air Force 1 plane ?
The fuel is indeed stored below. The upper portion is used for cargo or persons.
meandmymouth first of the presidents plane is only called Air Force 1 when he is onboard second yes it can refuel Air Force one
james cooley yes but AF1 never needs in air refueling, they plan the flights so it doesn’t happen
Mick Funny it's more in case of an emergency
Can you tell us how much fuel both planes /135/DC10 hold for refueling ? Thanks
Where is the oil for refueling kept? The upper deck is all empty. Like passenger aircrafts is oil only stored in wings & belly or the cargo space (lower-deck) is filled with oil??
That was amazing
How long is the wait time in dep to get this job?
У него топливо для заправки в багажнике получается??? Я думал в салоне баки стоят
Whats the name of this operator talking?
nothing like KC10 versatile and now C 17 the utmost of air transpport
Can anyone explain me where does “tanker aircraft” stores fuel.. ? .... does it stores in own larger fuel tank than others plane or it has separate fuel tank ?
It uses its own main fuel tanks (located in the wings) and Body fuel tanks (located in the old cargo holds.)
@@OtherSideProduction1 okay so it provides fuel to needed aircrafts and again it lands and refuels itself and again flies to provide fuel ?
It's big inside
I thought the operator lays down
I wanna retrain into this
did you get to retrain man?
Kool 😎👍.. KC 10.... Badass 🤠. Unsung heroes. Of the Air force. ... ⛽ Gas station in the sky....
Muito bom
Ahha
Sooooooooo much space on the upper deck. They can’t utilize all that space???
What aircraft were they refueling?
Another KC-10
does the kc 10 or the kc 135 have a bathroom?
The 10 has an airline bathroom
@@PokerPilot78 thank you
Where is the fuel for these planes located at??? And why is the interviewee calling diesel fuel gas lol!
Are you under the impression that jets run on diesel fuel?
Nate Enochs U know what im a truck driver so it’s really a habit for me! I forget that jets has there own type of fuel! Thanks for correcting me!
Danail
What type of ac was being refueled?
Newlander kc10
Another KC-10 Extender aeroplane
AeroCam Videos why would a tanker run out of fuel and need to be refueled itself?
Mick Funny training
Mick Funny I know this is being answered two years later, but this is useful for extremely extended missions. You can position other tankers ahead of time to meet up with ones in flight, and the fighter force always has a supply of fuel from the same aircraft. I see a T/Sgt. Talking .
Liz Nicole Lopez.... lookie
aaand conspiracy theorists call this a chemtrail sprayer...

So who refills the gas plane ✈️?? Guess they land. Fuel up and then the other planes ✈️ are on empty
Real Boomer's lay on their belly and pass gas!
Jack Flash
Whether laying on your stomach or sitting, its a helluva lot better than using a damn camera in the KC-46.
Apollonia Askew ahahaha. They also suck at receiving gas omg. About failed a check ride because of them
