  • another rad bike build and custom setup this time for a vet rider who's looking for the most versatile and adaptable machine possible.
he's as interested in a machine that performs well and has the speed he's after but also equally capable of if not more so at riding slow
    what a concept.
all most guys tend to talk about is how fast their bike is and how it makes XX horsepower and how bad ass it performs. and that's cool, hellyea it is. we like that stuff too.
these are toys and this is a hobby and some of us are full on goons with gadgets and goodies and power. braaaaaaaap!
but there's also some of us who want to ride a bike that can rip when you yank back on the grip but that's also smooth, linear, confidence inspiring, energy conserving and capable of being ridden slow too.
    this build is that bike.
My apologies for the audio on this one, we were trying out a new lapel mic and it was not as good as we’d hoped.

      Agreed my man. Agreed.
Just for clarification here - in moto, a VET rider isn’t a term for a military veteran, it’s a way of describing a seasoned, experienced older rider with a bunch of miles under his belt.
We may both be on the same page here but that’s what the term in my usage means 🤘🏽

Outstanding build. IMO, for $12k these bikes should come exactly like this stock. Such a waste to have to go aftermarket after dropping that much cash. I like the KTM's because they are light and have some nice features but too many cheap parts and lacking basic protections like skid plates and disc covers. I like the extra capacity tank you added- great job!

I also weld aluminum. Your pointing out of the open space below their guard was immensely helpful. I will weld in a piece of aluminum on mine as I fit them to the new Beta. Should be relayed to EE in my opinion and see if they can incorporate that into the braces in the future.

I used this video to build my 22 500 EXC-F a year ago with you Mike. I was re-watching this video today and it struck me (I've been toying with the set up lately) what if an,y is the set up you use on your tour bikes. Do you just one of the reccomended spring set up's or do you have a favorite "3 red / 3 silver, all steel, etc" do you use? I'm looking for a more early engagement / later dis-engagement for starting and engine braking on down hills.

Rekluse haters blow. Why would you care? I love mine, wont have a dirt bike with out it. The whole "can't you use a clutch" argument is silly. Grab a trials bike and come out and ride trials with me and my crew to see if we can still use a clutch.

Agree. I know I'm not an expert rider, but I'm pretty decent. But I love my Rekluse. Do I need it? No.... But I have more fun with it. And that's what riding is all about.
