Great video, I think you got almost everything right about exalted. But you forgot the most important fact about exalted is, the trait itself doesn't demand you to play it at all. Some people playing this set could just never interact with exalted and they will still be fine. Compared to something like last set headliner mechanics, exalted seem to be less intrusive, that is why you think it can be the last part of the set. But in reality exalted is def the first thing they design for the set, they just use a difference principle.
Yeah that's a very interesting and true point
Although I have no Idea in what order they'd make a Set
Exalted was a massive win. Congrats on Masters.
I agree that exalted should be every few sets, since it's such a unique mechanic. It's extra power on top of TFT's complex systems.
Compared to hero augments where they can narrow it down to only choosing certain champions to design for.
Thanks Alan and yeah you're exactly right especially with how huge a win Exalted was
The trait forces you to theory craft and use your knowledge of the game and of the set every match. If you can maneuver the trait and find key units that synergize with your Exalted, you will be immensely rewarded. Playing exalted not only rewards you for ingenuity, it actively trains you to be a better player in general such as you do too. I have nothing but praise for the TFT dev team for creating this masterpiece of a trait. The amount of versatility and potential it brings to every single game is simply unmatched by anything we've ever seen. I can't wait to master the Exalted trait as the set progresses and find all sorts of unique board compositions based on this video alone.
eloquently put, i am there with you. exalted is a true masterpiece
let me know about some of the unique comps you manage to cook up
I really dislike that having more activated traits is just worse than having good chmpions. I always enjoyed having huge trait webs especially with things like jazz or stand united. But i feel like nowadays theres much less value in having two extra traits than there is in having a random legendary.
My 5 exalted boards were always level 10 with 12+ traits activated but it felt like i‘d rather have 7 traits, like 4 of my units are legendaries and i take out exalted alltogether.
I feel the same way, there's just something so satisfying about loads of traits activated
But yeah Exalted favoured legendaries disproportionately which was very disappointing in my opinion
As an Exalted enjoyer, I approve this.
It’s possible that the design space that Exalted occupies will be taken by a different trait. That space might be the exp gain or the trait changing game to game or both. But it’s clear that TFT devs really want to have a completely different traits(with a few basic exceptions) each set, so it makes so it makes sense it wouldn’t come back
i think you're exactly on the mark, i didn't consider that far ahead. i'm super excited to see what we'll get in that design space
So no exalted next set?
@@juniormoture4506 most likely not, no. Riot implied as much in the recent Learnings Article
@@juniormoture4506probably not, but that doesn't mean they won't bring it back or another variant of the trait in the future
even tho i dont usually like or play it, i admit that it is probably the best trait that has been ever added to tft
Hey I really loved this video! I've been masters a few times but have been not enjoying this set as much. After, I started messing with exalted and its been super fun
I'm glad you've been finding fun!
A lot of players feel the same way about Set 11, myself included. Exalted is an amazing solution to that
Also, thank you! I had loads of fun making the video
As someone who started this set late, exalted feels difficult to play sometimes when all it provides is damage. the xp is nice but you need to stay in that trait long enough to get worth while xp. depend on which units are exalted you limit the type of units you can play, some matches it would be easier to play around your items. i plan to keep testing the trait out when it makes sense to see when it's best used.
thank you for the insight, i agree!
which are the units that make you consider playing exalted and which units do you avoid?
Great video! Really informative
Thank you ❤️
I too have played ranked for the first time since set 1 because of exalted. I've thoroughly enjoyed it and made a spread sheet I'd be happy to share which list all the possibly exalted combos, a quick find feature, rating based on average placement and recommended comps to play with each exalted set. As far as what needed to be done to make 5 exalted better, I think adding an extra 1% damage per lvl (to 4%) would have made it viable. Suddenly it'd be a 47% team wide damage buff at lvl 10. Would make it worth playing with "weaker" units to buff up a carry IMO.
@@shykexonrs I'd love to see your spreadsheet, that sounds amazing! Although I don't know if you can post links on yt, discord is probably the better option
Also, I'm not sure if more damage amp is the way to go
Let's say we look at the extreme and 5 Exalted now gives 100% damage amp.
That would perpetuate front loaded units being vastly better than back loaded
Furthermore, it would widen the gaps between exalted combinations that have easy access to damage and tank traits, like the Kha, Kayn, Galio Exalted.
I honestly think reducing the damage amp in return for something else is the better way to go, it should allow for more diversity
@@GoodyTFT it's a google sheets doc so a link may work but I'm not at home at the moment. As far as the buff, I suppose it depends on what units/traits you're giving up to get the extra 2 exalted. The best example I have is yesterday I had 2 games where I had all the 2 cost exalted, but specifically lux (porcelain) and senna (sniper) which is my green light to play Ashe. I often play it as 2 sniper, 4 porcelain, 5 exalted and then 4 warden or 2 warden, 2 other defensive traits. It's consistently done well for me and had me beating the standard Ashe warden comp in a heads up fight.
@@shykexonrs yeah it's super dependant on the exalted combination itself
i find that if the units are extremely disjoint, you need more from exalted to make up for your deficits
@@GoodyTFT I see your point. If they are very disjointed, you need a defensive buff for putting in 5 over an offensive one. Did you try much vertical umbral with exalted? Probably my favorite combo IF one of the exalted is an umbral unit. Something about a 37% damage boost and an execute at 25% HP vibs super well. That plus umbral has 1 of each front line trait so often something is activated. Hitting an umbral spat also means u can replace something for irelia which really takes it from what feels like a consistent top 4 to a first.
@@shykexonrs i have a few games with umbral here and there but i dont think i got umbral combos that often
having said that, i have a ton of games with alune because she is so insane with exalted
vertical umbral exalted does sound insane
but i tended to avoid spatulas because i didn't want to overcommit to a specific line in case i get contested or miss
Cool video. I like exalted too. For me it works as contrary tool against the development that everyone plays optimized comps nowadays. Wheres the fun if you just play according to a comp sheet or site. Great 👌🏻
@@Tom-yg7mi exactly, it's just constantly using your creativity and it's so much more fun
Indeed the best traits were Among Us
The way I play exalted is I play like "normal" and then try to fit in the exalted champ except for the 1 cost where I go full losedow mode and reroll for a top 8 because 3 star 1 cost cant compete with 3 star 3 cost or 2 star 5 cost without their proper hero augment or trait augment. I hardly activate exalted first because I can use a better comp for reserving hp and then run 3 exalted at lv 7 or more because unit slot are important and individual unit matter more in the early game
yeah i wonder how they solve how bad 1 costs are with Exalted
just found this video after winning with kha'zix garen galio lilia kayn 5 exalted combo into lv 10 board. this version of exalted just fitted so well naturally and output so much hybrid damage in mid game that a 1 star galio is enough to tank becoz the opponents die much faster.
Yeah that specific combo is just insane, you're exactly right with how natural it is
"8 seconds is just too long" HONEY I GOT GREAT NEWS
this is the type of thumbnail i would click😂
Every game I start with looking for exalted units so I can pick which portals that favor them
Yup, the team planner is great for that
I usually clicked random 2 costs to see if they were exalted
But some games, I couldn't click fast enough 😅
Tiktok has ruined my brain bc I couldn't stop laughing when u said the best traits are among us. With that said, exalted is a super cool concept, but the power difference between them is fairly significant.
Some units benefit a lot more from exalted since they have a strong core (like Lilia in the Azir Hwei Lilia core, easily flexing in both of the 4 cost tanks being Nautilus and Ornn) that runs over the game with 2 deadweights.
I hope in later patches if exalted comes back, exalted combinations take how flexible the units are into account and ones with less flexible units have better synergy among them
Absolutely, that's why I think star level could be a better input than level
You'd get less damage amp through the trait if you played solely high cost units
Also I heard it too so I kept it in
amongus
Tbh I also love to play exalted but what I don't like is that many times if u go 5 exalted it is just too bad. U should be more reqarded for play 5 exalted tbh.
@@henriquesousa9683 agreed
i think they don't want to make exalted every set because it will limit them on making traits like mutant from set 6 or mirage from set 7 , those 2 traits worked like exalted the difference being that those 2 had the same champions in every game but with different effects while exalted is the exact opposite
Yeah that makes sense, it could impose design limitations for a Set. I didn't think about that
Exalted shouldn't be stronger
because that will force players to play it almost every game which defy the purpose of the design.
The xp you gained means that 5 exalted is a way for you to hit end game level faster most of the time.
5 exalted has been buffed to a point this trait can make a comp like 50% of the time this patch.
Any further buff will break the balance.
oh i meant that they should reduce the damage amp for tankiness
otherwise, it'd be as you say, everyone would be playing exalted which would defeat its purpose
@@GoodyTFT
Oh I see.
In that case exalted will be another Inkshadow.
The units of the traits don't share syncrony.
The dmg amp and reduction make it a stable comp.
I might like the current state more.
You can just use exalted as a tempory comp to go up fast(the dmg amp can trade units well)
if the units are weak without dmg traits.
This provides more flexibility.
A good example, I saw someone go 5 exalted 3-stars 2 costs in LV6 and go fast 9 to get power units carry once.
Imo, if you make exalted that way,
what you'll see is that some chinese players
will make a list of optimized comps for every exalted combination.(This list already existed a few patches ago.)
Whenever a 3 silver hex game happens, everyone will go for the 3 or 5 exalted.
@@eciohc75 yeah that was an example, but you're right it'd be another inkshadow
i just think that getting sheer raw damage amp at 5 exalted is just bad, and doesn't make up for how bad your board becomes
5 exalted never felt worth playing imo
but i'm not sure if it's a problem if it becomes optimised, there's a lot of depth that becomes difficult to execute as well as in game variance with items and augments that can drastically change the comp you're going for, in which case it's not optimal
it's not currently a problem but perhaps that's because it's not optimal to play exalted. maybe it becomes an issues if exalted was giga s tier, i'm not sure.
really cool video
thank you
Cool video
Personaly i do not realy care about exalted. I sometimes splash fe 3 exalted bc i already play 2 in my comp, but other than that no. I don't think i have ever played any game with 5 exalted past stage 4/5
thank you! i completely understand where you're coming from and that's kinda another huge benefit to exalted.
as chien pointed out in another comment, you don't need to engage with Exalted at all, you can completely ignore the trait and not lose anything
Exalted not making a comeback is a big mistake
it's likely that the designs for set 12 and set 13 are already locked in and so they don't have space for exalted to fit in.
but maybe we'll see it in set 14 and onwards as they're still in the early stages of production
Exalted allows less grieving 😅
