I don't know why he hated the elite toaster, it seemed to toast much more evenly than the other toaster which costs 10 times as much and you don't have to be on speicfic numbers, there is a dial where you can go between numbers to find your perfect toast level, and it will be much more even than the 300 dollar one.

I think you were too quick to dismiss the Elite Gourmet - the toasting was overall more even than the $300 Revolution toaster and the only real problem you seemed to have was that the settings didn't match up to your expectations based on your experiences with other toasters, IE: the Elite Gourmet setting 1 was more like the setting #3 on your Walmart toaster, setting 2 on Elite Gourmet was more like setting 4 or 5 on another...
Since it didn't come with a manual or pictures to show what one should experience its hard to say if thats a bad thing - the only real issue would be if you really like your toast very lightly toasted... if thats not the case then it looks like the Elite Gourmet on setting 1 or 1.5 works perfectly fine and gives an even toasting.

You MIGHT want to check the low end toaster again to see if there is an adjustment knob or lever that changes the settings on the toaster. Many lower end toasters have them so you can customize the settings to your personal taste. It may be hidden, so check everywhere, especially just below the knob and on the bottom. I looked immediately after his video aired, and there were quite a few affordable ones. Low supply (antique + no longer manufactured) + high demand = inflation. If they were manufactured today the price would drop due to availability and low cost of production. You could find some "broken" ones on independent resale sites, and typically they're not actually broken. It's things like a broken power cord (which is easy to replace since they're not polarized and the casing is metal) or the nichrome wire has loosened, preventing it from lowering, which is fixable with the turn of a screw. I agree with another commenter that the Elite Gourmet may INTEND for you to be toasting 4 pieces at once, which would disperse the heat differently than just 2, and give you some less-done toasts (and also perhaps why it's throwing 2 pieces on the floor if it's weighted to lift up 4 specifically). Just so you know, the Sunbeam "automatic beyond belief" toasters made in the 1950s (through the 90s) used an actual heat sensing mechanism to know the actual temperature of the surface of the bread. The timer would be useful, especially with an audio cue, for a normal toaster, for this reason. But due to the soft ejection, it seems extraneous here. But then, so does the touch screen. I know Technology Connections did a video on a really old soft-eject toaster that used just the expansion of metals to accomplish the job. I've also seen another modern version without a touch screen at an AirBNB I stayed at, but I have no idea what model it was.

There is a youtuber named Technology Connextras who reviewed the technology behind toasters. He found out that toasters made in the 50s-60’s are far superior to new ones, except the fact the outside of them got very hot. They toasted perfectly every time without a setting mode.

I would buy the 30 dollar toaster and adjust the dial to the color I want the toast to be. Then I would sit down with a cup of coffee and find out what Im going to do with the 280 dollars I saved on Amazon.

Amazon's "Best Seller" is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Make it cheap, call it a best seller, list it first. I try to avoid anything in BS land therefore.

$300+ for a dang toaster is nuts. I've seen brand new washer and dryers sell for less. Get a $15 Walmart toaster it's good enough.

I don’t remember looking at a toaster and thinking: you now what it needs a touchscreen and a 400 EUR price tag. But somehow this made it in to production

If you use the Elite Toaster on level 6, it will speed dial the Fire Department for you.

Oh please. Nobody ever uses the fancy features. The finest toaster ever made is the Toastmaster 1B14. Look on ebay. They were built so well that finding one that's broken, after 70 years, is actually pretty hard. Repairable. Toasts to a crisp outer crust with a chewy bread center. Phenomenal.

No offence but that Toast post Level 2, even 'The Dark Web' was what the Heck. 'THATS DARK SON'. 'We otta here before the Authorities arrive'. . Hilarious 👍

The elite is great for my purposes because I don’t want my toast less than level one and I love the long slots

I wouldn't care if it made perfect toast every time, I would not pay $300 for a toaster. Our $30 toaster oven makes perfectly acceptable toast and does other stuff as well.

For that price I would expect 6 month supply of bread for a $300 toaster. With all the extra features something is sure to break down. Sometimes less is more. Thanks for the great review.

For $300 I want an attachment where I can load an entire loaf of bread and it automatically loads itself and dispenses the toast for you on a plate. Coffee pot makes coffee on it's own in the morning and then the toaster has you toast waiting to go along with your morning coffee. The quality of the toast matches my cheap $15 toaster, so it need a lot more geek factors for me to even start to think about it.

Speaking of cool/uncool toasters, the coolest toaster(and gadget in general) I know of is called a Sunbeam Radiant Control and its from the 1950s. It’s insane what it’s capable of, it’s fully automatic all you do is place the bread in and it will start (no lever/button). The craziest thing is that you never have to set a timer, it has a thermometer inside that reads the breads surface temperature and it will go up automatically when it’s perfectly toasted. Since it uses temp, it’ll automatically adjust time for harder or easier to toast things. It would be super cool if you could get your hands on one and review it, I know you like vintage gadgets. I don’t understand why the technology was abandoned and how we have worse toasters 70 years later. It even toasts more evenly, apologies for the ramble I just really like that toaster lmao.

Its hard to get an accurate toaster now, lots of burned toast and inconsistencies! Panasonic NB-G110P Flash Xpress would be good to test. It's a toaster oven but super compact and not much bigger than a toaster. The toast presets work really good for me and its toast darkness is accurate every time. Took me a while to get used to it for other foods because it will burn the surface of some food fast. I found putting aluminum foil over the food if I'm baking something it works well to just cook the food. But if you know how to use it, it makes great toast, pizza reheat, hash browns and cooks evenly and is instant heat with the light technology.

For $300 I'd expect perfect evenly toasted bread, Like the one made by Mitsubishi, sold in Japan, that Sortedfood reviewed a couple of weeks ago. This seems more like a decent quality toaster with a touchscreen added to justify it's premium price.
