Bob is so cool. He reminds me of every welding instructor I've ever had. Humble, but insanely skilled
I've been welding since 1987 inspected for 8yrs now back to welding I've been watching some videos so I can have my teenage son watch and learn. Bob you have very good information for young guys. Even after all these years I still learn something everyday. Keep up the good info sir
I’m watching this trying to prep for an interview this morning. I Loved you guys together. Two dudes that REALLY know what they’re doing, and damn good at breaking it down for us greenhorns. Big thanks
God bless you both. Besides being excellent in your work I really appreciate your tact, gentleness and humility.
I love it when you guys get together to make a video. I've learned so much about powertig welding from the two of you.
I love watching the two of you interact. I learn so much about how to use my everlast welders to the best of their ability.
Yall have some damn good synergy and bring alot of collective information ... I really enjoy the episodes you both are in
You can tell Bob really likes doing collabs with him. Bob seems like a really chill guy tho. He said love you at the end hahah what a sweet dude lol
Bobs a good guy
@@WeldersIncLlc both are great teachers
Great chemistry between you two. Thanks.
My go-to guys back at it again, great info as alwayz
My two favorite dudes! 😮
I watched this video because of how excited Bob Moffatt looked in the thumb nail
Huge fan of Bob and becoming a big fan of yours. Really enjoyed this video, keep them coming man. Subbed.
Vi seguo dall’Italia, non sono un saldatore ma un appassionato, non capisco quello che dite... ma soltanto guardandovi riesco ad imparare qualche cosa.
Complimenti per tutti i vostri video. Siete grandi!
Grazie!
I love learning from these videos where you guys show case two different styles or schools of thought to do the same job, badass.
Something unbelievable!!! Two from the three the most favorite, significant and valuable persons in my welding life in one place!!! Thank You so-so much !!! Try to make it regular and it will make me happy! Thank You one more time!!!
Great video! I am also a lefty like Bob. I use a feathered edge like Halmar but walk it like Bob. out in the field, the fitter doesn't always pay attention to how you like it and you get what you get. Welding is always about improvising and improving your technique. always keep learning. thanks guys
I really enjoy learning from these guys!
excellent explanation guys, from Colombia greetings.
I like these collaborative efforts. You guys do a good job of explaining the hows and the whys of the traditions of the trade.
Here in Texas as far as TIG is concerned we have always done a sharp or feathered edge. Myself I like a 1/32 landing on all my pipe, however in production pipe shops the overwhelming majority of pipe welders gripe if there is a landing. My students and I watch both of you guys.
Thank You! Great Video!
I prefer to have a land on the bevel, too. Most of the stuff I do has to be preheated, so it’s not very comfy to rest the fingers on the pipe. On big inch pipe I find it also way more comfortable to rest the cup. But this is all personal preference like you said. If I have to tie in below 3 o‘clock I switch to a torch angle about 90 degrees and use a thinner wire. Then I create a keyhole and push wire in there . It’s a bit like the dipping technique with pushing wire. That gives me enough reenforcement but I don‘t leave cold wire in there.
I love your videos. So much information to glean
Dude I have learned soooo damn much from watching your videos !!! Ur one bad ass welder
In the shop I work(Petrochemicals, exotic alloys, xray UT MT etc..) all of the Welders prefer feathered edge fitups for MIG/TIG roots, FCAW and SAW fill/cap. Field welds often will have lands for SMAW welding.
very nice video! Thanks for your work
As a welding inspector boiler makers are hard to beat. Quick and good
This was awesome I like to feed on ss, and 625, but lay on carbon. This definitely was nice to watch and thank you guys for the content.
Good shit as always!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
I like these prono styled videos... Different angles and different strokes for different types of folks video format!
You're only missing that 70's theme music while you're laying the pipe!
Talent from God on display here. Thanks for it all.
Great tips and tricks guys!
It’s in there bob, yuppp, aww awwww bob cracks me up
Definitely learning alot
At the end of the day it’s the result that counts. Welding is always personal preference, the key is getting comfortable and being consistent with the weld. Some people can’t change hands and get twisted up and the weld isn’t so great. Practise, practise, practise. It’s been said 1000 hrs doing anything results in quality. There’s your answer. Amps changes from left to right handed because of the arc angle and length. Some people don’t believe that but it’s gospel. I’ve taught right and left handed guys and they always find the same result.
Both of these guys know what they’re doing, but it’s just personal preference. It’s the result that counts.
It's very useful video to me
Thanks a lot 🙏
Great instructional!
I've been trying out the no land prep, and been really liking the results with that. However bob does make a good point, unfortunately a lot of outside parts that are pre-prepped (flanges, T's, elbows) almost always come with a land on them. So in those cases, you either gotta weld with the land or take the time to grind the land down
Re: Looking to become a pipe welder
A lot shop fab is mig welded, like meter skids, seperators parts of vessels. If you want to travel and weld you need to find a helper job somewhere you want to go and learn the downhill stick side or get into chemical and water plants where everything is tig welded or try em all out. Getting a helper job for a year or 2 is going to be more useful than most schooling plus you'll take home 1500$ a week for the right company. Save, learn, practice in your spare time. When your comfortable go find a test
You guys are a great duo
you guys really know how to make welding to be fun
I worked at a fab shop and we got 90's T's and all kinds of schd 40, 80, and 160 fittings and they had the laborers take a tiger paw and knock off the landing then take them to the blast cabinet before going to the pipe shop to get rocked out
@WeldTube - What kind of gloves do you use to TIG with? My gloves are the thin Tillman TIG gloves and to rest my finders on that pipe, my fingers would be toast in about 5 minutes resting them on pipe running 110 amps.
Thanks ..good job
i love the way
you guys teach as
Its all about preference, hell if it passes x-ray its all good.
Ruben Rios preference will get your ass busted on X-ray
All about that diversity and *inclusions* hahha
On a business side of it, it all about minimizing time, and maximizing productivity and as long as you make a good quality weld and accepted by the inspector. Great video and great for the welders community.
and you noticed! young gun used a jumbo gas lens & jumbo cup, the old timer used a regular set up. :) its all good !!
Could you please do a flux core, overhead video please? I work for a shipbuilding and repair company and I’m currently struggling with overhead 2 runs showing.
When I throw a couple of welds down I wait like 5-10 mins maybe more to let the plate cool down and go back to welding with the same amps and oxygen
Both of you are good welders...
Good information
The reasoning for the heat actually being lower for the face is travel speed.
Bob has to run just a bit slower do to their being an edge. If he ran hotter, he would have to run faster and less likely to break down both walls.
The knife edge, needs more heat to help up the travel speed. The wall breaks down faster, so you need to be moving faster. If you’re to cold, that wall make not break down good, or make you sit in one spot to long and allow extra heat build up.
Amazing welding that giant beaver gap.
Collaborating brothers. Goodtimes.
Yall need to call Jody and get some tig fingers!
coors1800 I’ve told them that once before.
They woukd if they needed them
Lol
No matter the prep you have to get the tungsten out on the bevels
Do you guys teach the lay wire technique? If not, why not? Just asking. Thanks
Really cool seeing you guys work together, both great welders. But....
Maybe more focus on why each of you use the techniques and specks you do. My students love your videos. I enjoy them too.
Can you do a video on flux core pipe? Mig root and flux core cap 6G
Passion is welding 🥽 my life
How can you tell if ur breaking down the edge when ur welding it ?
Ragazzi siete i numeri 1!!
More than one way to skin a cat ... as they say. Good video.
These guys are good
Hey man what welding shirt are you using in this video?
Can u make a video on how to setup the 305 wire in the field
I love lay wire technique if im too flat I push wire on my hot pass to get a little more reinforcement
We could do with a video on cup angle for different materials and free hand or walking the cup and different weld types and the affect on cup angle ??
me gusta como enseñan gracias porque aprendo las tecnicas de soldar
I had a question, when tacking ur fit up "4 tacks at each quadrant" Do you penetrate your tacks then feather ends and then tie in to them? Or do you completely grind them out and reweld them?
Depends on the tack. If it is a penetrated tack - feather the end you tie in to. I it is a bridge tack - cut out. I started on pipeline this week and ran into 8" pipe for the first time in my life( before it was boiler work with 2" pipe) and the first two days a had a hard time with the standart placement of the tacks - 12, 6, 9, and 3. I would weld the bottom first ( from 6 to 9 and from 6 to 3) and after that would go for the top. But it would close on me insanely- from a lose 5/32 to 0.080" and I couldn't do anything about that. Then I've found a video with Bob explaining fitup stuff and there he would mention his preference on tack placement - 12, 10 and 2 o'clock. Works perfectly, no shrinking at all.
Awesome video
Can you make a video using 1/16 fluxcore wire nobody has videos of actual 1/16 fluxcore arc shots
Since Bob had to mention it, I'd like to hear more about the air marshalls issue lol
Muy buenos excelente un saludo desde Argentina
First thing i was thaught in welding by Mr. Dusseldorp. Was there is always more then one wat. Hey em all and built on what Duits jou best.
Bob is a welding guru,
Please run multiple pass flex core duel shield, with 1\ 16 wire.
Hey bro. Can you make a vid showing how you push the filler wire with your thumb using left and right hand. I heard bob says that he is rolling the filler wire when supplying the filler wire. Im interested with your technique because im having a hard time supplying the filler wire when doing the root. I cant get the proper root penetration because it is only flush and didnt push more filler wire there.
Darwin Espiritu you want to be flush. Its ok to have little reinforcement but flush is always better. Less turbulence in the pipe when product flows. That is why people who leave large nuggets fail.
Darwin Espiritu d
When you quarter, why do you weld from 6-3 then 6-9 or going down 12-3 then 12-9. If I quarter I go 12-3 then 9-6 and visa versa.
What gas flow would you recommend on this
I can smell it 😂😂😂
Just for clarification since I'm still learning: Is a land when the sharp point of the bevel is ground at a steeper angle, taking away the "sharp" edge of the bevel? Also can somebody explain what a "feathered edge" is? I thought I could figure it out from the close Ups and arc-shots but I'm still unsure. Thanks
Land is the face of the bevel after you grind it. They act as heat syncs. They hold your “heat”. Feathering is grinding your tacks so you can tie into your starts and stops on that tack. You typically want the starts of your tacks “feathered out” with a grinder so that your bead can burn through the beginning of your start (feathered edge) then pop out when the integrity of the bead is at its max full potential to get a perfect tie it. Your key hole grinds should just be the center of the bead and not into the bevel where your key hole ended. You take the high part of the bead out so you can get full penetration into your existing bead once you get your rod going. You don’t want to grind the key hole at all because if you take anything past your keyhole, you’re grinding your land away (heat sink), then you have to change your heat or your rod manipulation. To be honest, this is my 6010 root advice and not TIG. They should be close but I’m just a welder.lol
.......and here I thought the land was a flat on the end of the pipe. Bob's preferred land is visible at 17:29. .....and the feathered edge was a sharp edge on the pipe wall.
I love you brather
Sería más que excelente que lo subtitularan. Saludos...!
Are the amps still the same with land and no land
Bob , what brand cap is that your wearing ? I like the deep caps to pull completly over my ears
Coolhand Luke www.axbrycaps.store
Great video! But honestly....it all comes down to what the WPS says.
I like this young gun.
Hey man any tips with ERNiCrMo-10 filler metal? I believe we are going to be welding hastelloy c-22 I’m having a hard time with it at the moment. Thanks
Jose Uriostegui We've been doing -3 and -10 at my job with 254 SMO. I've been trying to find a video, but have had no luck. I've found that the keyhole and dip method puts in a better root for me. Plus letting it cool down between passes, since it gets hot very quick since there's so much Nickel.
I gap it with an 1/8th and use a 3/32 rod.
My leather on my outlaw hood doesnt stand up like that, it sags and I hate it, burns my face and my neck, which ones do I need to buy to get that stand up leather
IDK when I was a young pup I used to watch my dad do that with an oxy acetylene torch..
Do what?
Carlos Alvarez tig weld almost the same except one is an electrode with shielding gas and the other is a gas torch, you can weld with a torch and braze weld too.
@@Thelegitrager I know the difference between brazing and tig. I do both. Carls comment isn't very clear. I was asking exactly what did he see his dad do.
No longer at Cowley County Community College? What happened?
Yo man, love your content would love to get a one on one chat, I live in New Orleans how can I get in contact with you or what’s your next event?
I need this lesson in franch.
Where is this school
Can you guys show how to weld with flux coated stainless steel tig filler wire would like to see how to be more efficient with it you guys kick ass 👊🏻👍🏻
Mestre quero fazer o curso ai neste centro. Quero fazer tig.
O que faço?
Hamar always trying to talk while Bob is talking.. Lol
Good video , I would have kinda liked to see the point of veiw shots while you're welding, look at the back of the bead while your welding doesn't help as much , also bob can you talk a little more about your work history, was just curious , good vid take care youtube friends!
