Just to set you straight on a few points.
This is in Belarus. He is from Kazakhstan and they speak Kazakh but here he is singing in French and speaking Russian.
That wasn't his family either, just some of the fans from Dimash's worldwide fanbase.
At his last concert in his homeland people came from 68 countries to hear him sing.
There are almost 200 videos on his CZcams channel.
The Russian and most former Soviet audiences are very restrained and do not go crazy like us in the west. They present flowers of appreciation and give the performer the chance to do their thing before applauding. Slavanski Bazaar is an annual international singing competition hosted by Belarus. Dimash was the winner in 2015. Here he is a guest singer in 2018. He was a judge in the last concert before the war broke out. Welcome to the rabbit-hole of Dimash. I was at his latest concert 4 weeks ago in Malaysia. People from 41 countries there!
Not only in the former member countries of the USSR, but in absolutely all the former communist countries in Eastern Europe, people were educated in school from a young age to go to symphony concerts, the opera and the theater, they were taught exactly how the English lords were educated in the past centuries to applaud at the end, not to interrupt the soloists, to listen quietly to hear all the nuances of the interpretation in order to react in full understanding and empathy with the feelings of the interpreter! I am now a mathematician and computer scientist for 70 years, but I know all the great composers of the past and I can taste symphonic music, opera, operetta, but also light music, let's say starting with the Beatles, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Queen, Abba and up to those of today such as Lady Gaga. I was taught to be able to read and sing a solfege vocally at first sight, and my education did not stop only at music, but I systematically learned about painting and painters, about sculpture, theater, cinematographic art, poetry. You were probably educated to believe that everything that existed in those countries was negative, in fact it was not. Furthermore, education in its entirety was free from kindergarten to doctorates and there was access to doctorates obtained in Western countries such as France, Germany, Great Britain and the USA.
In that part of the world they show their respect by listening quietly and their appreciation by giving him flowers at the end. Just translate all those flowers into a standing ovation!😄

SOS is the song that introduced Dimash to the world and opened many great opportunities and collaborations for him. There are a number of versions of Dimash singing this song, each different but all great. This song comes from the famous 1978 Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania', which is well known in French-speaking countries, and is a pretty difficult song to sing. In 2017 Dimash received a wild card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant ever at 22 years old and the first non-Chinese. Only professional, award-winning singers take part in this competition. Although well-known and respected in his homeland Kazakhstan, nobody in China knew or heard about Dimash before, but with his first song, SOS, Dimash shocked the audience and captured the hearts of over 600 million of viewers overnight, and the rest is history as the saying goes.
BTW, the person in the close-up you wondered about is Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus. The MC and Dimash speak Russian, the common language of all of the former Soviet states. People in Kazakhstan generally speak both Russian and Kazakh.

Dimash is a 29-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (vocal fry C1 (B0) - whistle D8 off the piano). That means he hits notes in almost 8 octaves and sings consistently in 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly😅). At least what he has shown us so far. And this in all the different registers . His voice is the result not only of his God-given talent, but also of his almost 25 years of daily hard training. From the age of 5 he attended music school in his hometown of Aktobe. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish (about 7 languages in one concert!). And at his concert in Yerevan on April 29, 2023, he sang an Armenian folk song for the first time (it has to be about 15 or 16 languages so far).
He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how.
Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, intelligent, respectful and humble person. Sometimes he also can be a little bit goofy, and I love it❤️. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this.
His concert in September 23, 2022 was in his hometown Almaty, it was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art, you realize you are so wrong.
He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to constantly improve his vocal skills.
He said in an interview that he trains at least 3 hours every day, if necessary, it can be 10 hours to prepare for a concert. He loves swimming and also a lot under water. Maybe that's why he has this large lung capacity to hold the notes as long as he does. He's a singer you can't put in any box. He sings almost every genre there is. Every time you watch a video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing. Not only is he perfect at singing and performing, he's also an incredibly good actor. Check out his music videos. They are amazing. You think I’m exaggerating? No, I don’t think so😄.
Dimash is fluent in two languages. Russian and his native tongue Kazakh. His English is also very good and he is constantly improving it. He also knows and understands a few words and sentences in Mandarin. In the meantime he can sing in about 15 or 16 languages, but he does it phonetically.
He sang this song as a guest at the Slavic Bazaar in Belarus 2018. It’s an International Festival of Arts and a contest for young singers, which he won in 2015.
SOS is a song in the rock-opera „Starmania“ from 1978. The first who presented this song was the French singer and songwriter Daniel Balavione.
SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time.

Here he sings in a competition for young musicians, called New Wave in Sochi, Russia. He was there in 2018 as a guest.
The musicians who accompany him are called A-Studio. It's a Kazakh band that wrote this song in 1998. However, Dimash sang it differently. And in my opinion much better 😄.
The gentleman at the end you see standing and clapping is the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship.
If possible, always watch the videos to the end. Very often there are interesting things to learn. Either there’s something to laugh about, or he’s talking to his audience. He always thanks his musicians. He is incredibly humble and never acts like a star. When he is praised, he constantly says that it is thanks to his teachers and his parents, who made it all possible for him. He’s just incredible.

Dimash is a mega-star with millions of fans in over 140 countries. He is the top vocal athlete on the planet. Russian audiences are alot less self centered than our audiences in the West. Instead of jumping up and down like children, they remain subdued and show respect by not taking attention away from the artist. Yes, Slaviansky Bazaar happens in Belarus, regional competition, Dimash won the Grand Prix in 2015, and this was 2018 where he was invited back as a guest performer. That was the president of Belarus. Dimash rose to international fame in 2017 when he participated in a competition for professional singers in China. Since 2017-2018 to these days, he`s had concerts in many countries, including USA, Germany, Ukraine, Türkiye, Malaysia etc. He can sing in ~5 octaves and hit notes in 7 octaves. He has performed songs in 12-13 languages. In his current world tour, he sings in 7 languages in his concerts (english, kazakh, italian, french, chinese, spanish, russian). Pack your bags for the rabbit hole that this guy will send you down. I’ve been a fan since February 2019 and a day has not gone by that I haven’t listened to this guy sing. I won’t write a novel, but I sure could about him. You will be getting lots of views from fans who love to see first time reactors. They will also give you plenty of suggestions for your next videos. He is a phenomenon. 7+ octaves, been studying music, classically, and instruments since he was five. He has sung in 15 different languages most of those phonetically. He’s fluent in Kazakh, Russian, and really good in his English. He’s 29, single, and has been conquering the eastern part of the world for the last few years, but did come to New York in December 2019. I was there.!! That was a performance by a young Dimash. He was just finding his baritone voice at that time. Since then, his vocal range has expanded. Both ways. Wait until you hear his lower register. It's a rich and full as his chest voice, and just as spectacular as his head voice and whistle tones. The best song I can think of to display his vocal range is The Story of One Sky, although Drunken Concubine displays bass growl and D8 whistle tone. You read that right... D8. You have a lot more to discover about this once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon. There are good singers... there are great singers... and there's Dimash. This "introductory" song is a good starting point, but it is far from being a summary of his abilities. Each song has different elements, even different performances of the same songs. We Dears look forward to you reacting to more of Dimash. This is one rabbit hole you won't regret going down!!!
Dimash was singing in French. Dimash sings in several languages, but conversationally, Dimash is fluent in Russian, Kazakh and is radically improving in English. (Although his dears will always have a special spot for Dimash’s “Dinglish”. Cheers from Canada!

DIMASH is the G.O.A.T. of all the universe and beyond, no one like him I can ever remember or have heard about. He is once in a millennium talent. Dimash sings in 15 languages, many genres, even a bit od Kazakh rap. I’m besotted with him. Travelled from U.K. to three different countries for the chance to see his three and a half hour concerts. And I’m 78. Dimash composes, plays instruments dances, chats to the audience, but also , directs, models, etc. and is humble kind, respectful and very much the humanitarian, using his voice for good. Try Stranger from New Wave 2021. It’s in English and epic.

Dimash is from Kazakhstan, but speaks fluent Russian, which he does here at Slavic Bazar 😊 However, he sings in 14 different languages. Master 7 different musical instruments. Dimash sings all genres of music and has a vocal range that even, in one case, extends beyond a pianos keyboard. In addition to his "next level" vocal talent, he is the most lovable, humble and altruistic person who loves his fans dearly and calls us Dears because we are like family to him. Dimash does not actually speak Mandarin or Spanish. He knows a few lines of each. He found Chinese (Mandarin} very difficult to learn. Spanish he speaks a few words because of a concert. When he has a concert in a contry, he tries to learn a few words in the language and he will learn a song in that language. Because he spent almost 3 years in China, a lot of the songs he sings are in Chinese. He is learning English because he wants to spend some time here in America. Which he has already started doing. His sister and brother know English because I think they learned it in school. So he can practice his English with them. When Dimash was in school, they did not teach English. He also understand more than he is able to speak. He’s getting better and better and soon he will be fluent! 😄

The announcers and Dimash's comments afterwards were in Russian. Dimash is fluent in Kazakh and Russian, speaks English pretty well and some Mandarin now. The song is in French. And he sings in another 11 or 12 languages. He always at least learns how to say Thank You in the audience's prevailing language.
Dimash has tons of videos. Most of them are of live performances. Check out his channel for many of them : Dimash Qudaibergen .
Some of his key performances were at venues where he doesn't own the performance, so you have to go to the event's content channel.
For example, the first major international performance of this SOS song was at the 2017 Chinese pro competition called "I Am Singer". But the subtitles were not in English, so go to the Dimash Fanclub Germany channel to get the same videos enhanced with European and English subtitles. Dimash has a large multilingual and skilled fan base, so stuff gets taken care of.

I wondered for a long time why the audience collectively didn't give a standing ovation.
Just my thoughts.
I was and am mesmerised by his beautiful voice the first time I heard this video and I was filled with wonder and amazement at what I felt was perfection in his delivery.
I feel Dimash takes you on his journey with him at a soul level.
I did not physically respond, I sat there with my whole body, mind and heart still captivated.
Also the first time I saw this video I did not notice the audience did not stand with wild clapping and encouraging vocal gratitude.
I put this down to how I felt except with the one difference that they were in his presence.
I thought if I was affected by silence bathed in his incredible voice and ability to connect emotionally what must it have been like to witness Dimash.
That's what I put it down to.
I have never had a bucket list but now my only bucket list is to see Dimash live 😊
