DJI Phantom 4 - Battery reset and what's inside the case

  • What is inside of the DJI Phanton 4 battery and what I have learned about resetting a battery. The down side is you have to access the battery mother board either through making a hole in the case or opening the case itself.
Once you have access to the board you will need to touch the ground and reset contact (RST), hold it for aleast a few seconds the release. The leds should flash and the battery will turn on. This has only worked for me so far on a battery that would not show any lights when the button was pushed. I did check and the battery had power but the board was unresponsive. Still trying to solve the led 1 flashing issue.
Hope this can help some of you all out there.

I had a P4P battery which I had stored while inserted in my P4P for about 6 months. It had the same symptoms as you described. Using your method of resetting the battery, I had 100% success. I've looked at many other videos with different procedures but yours is the simplest of all. Thanks so much. You literally saved me the cost of a new battery which, as you must know, is very expensive. GREAT JOB!

Great great video, and spot on with the close-up shots too, thank you so so much. I appreciate people, such as yourself, who help to make sure that the likes of DJI (who expect us to buy a new battery after already supporting them by purchasing an expensive drone from them), and you have made the process so good and straight forward. Thank you again. Sadly I made the mistake also of letting the batteries go flat (no lights at all), and this has given me re-assurance. Oh forgot to add, love the idea of drilling 3 holes in the case (while the battery is out), so that on the next occasion, the + - and reset are available, without having to remove the case again, which, as you can imagine, was harder than rebuliding a v12 engine (well not quite). Take care fella. Andy from Merseyside UK

Thank you for your help. My Phantom 4 battery pack had no screws to open the pack, and rather than fight the glue and pry the case apart, I used a small diameter very thin dremel cut-off wheel to cut a 1 3/8" x 1/2" piece out of the back of the plastic case at the appropriate location (on the side where the push button is on front). I was able to easily access the main pack terminals and the reset button. All of which I needed and used as per your instructions.
Piece of cake! Careful if you use this technique - do not let the cutoff wheel go any deeper than the plastic! Very carefully use an exacto knife in the corners of the cutout, and anywhere else as necessary to prevent damage to the circuit board. I left it open, but a piece of white duct tape might be called for to cover the access hole.

Same day follow-up. The old battery had no swelling. Was only giving 2 to 3 minutes flight time. After the reset. Full battery displayed 17 minutes. I flew for 11 minutes until the first low battery warning at 33% with 6 minutes left on flight time. I landed on first warning. Have to say, a success. Not sure if the reset will work on a battery with new cells. Will have to try.

No leds flashed before this...but I managed to reset it a few times and the leds started flashing for a bit...but then went to completely dead, again. Now it doesn’t do nothing anymore...should I let it to charge? Even tho, I have let it for like 2 days in the charger, but without any activity. It is possible that if it’s completely dead it won’t do anything forever again? Even tho, after a few resets, it started to flash a bit...the 3rd led for a few times, then it died completely. The battery mother board has the same points of contact from what I have seen in other peoples videos. I do not have a mavic 2 battery to test and do a video on.

I fix batteries for the mavic 2 pro, phantom 4 and the whole DJI line using software for chip activation.

@@joaovitorsantosgrigorio8133 You have mentioned this twice. I am curious about mavic pro 2. can you give some info? I have 4 batts that are either swollen or just non responsive. Please Help! I am a Tech, but am fighting a losing battle on these. It is now costing a fortune to Fly my Drones!!!!

@@oconnb910 in the case of a swollen battery, it is recommended to change the cell pack, because if the battery swells at one time or another it will damage the housing and run the risk of further damage.

@@oconnb910 In my case, I activate DJI batteries that do not turn on or do not charge, in cases of being swollen, the recommended thing is to change the battery pack for a new one and this can be expensive.

То, что аккумулятор разблокировался и даже стал заряжаться, ни о чём не говорит! Когда вставишь его в квадрокоптер, он откажется взлетать!
