GAMMA Progression 2 drop weight stringer with the Head Graphene Prestige Pro racquet. String used is Babolat Hurricane in the mains and Volkl natural gut in the crosses.
I liked this video, even though I have an electronic machine. Basic same principles. My son and I watched so many other videos and ended up getting lost and confused. I think you did a great job, man!
Thanks for the video. Ignore all the haters. I too strong rackets and worked under a Master Stringer, they even offered to pay for my certification, but I chose not too follow that path. I needed a little refresher since I couldnt remember how many feet to pull for the mains. Your video answered that right away
Incredibly helpful video. Thank you for making and sharing it. I watched it all the way through and then I strung my first racket today. I really appreciate the way you covered everything and left nothing for me to guess at. Nice job!
Great video! It helped me a lot personally and I will be helping a lot of people because of this video! who are these haters? I'm with the comment from "rx" down there aha.
Good job.Made it look simple. I guess every Racket has a different string combination like that you just did is a 16 by 19, others my have 18 by 20,or even a16 by 20.Do you always start the main Frist then you do the Cross section 2nd.My question is what's better a two piece or a one piece Stringing? guess you done a two pcs as a oppose to a one pcs. Stringing.I liked that you mentioned that if the Throat at the main has 6 holes you start at the throat frist but because it had 8 holes you start feeding throw the head first. All important details. Thanks for the Info.Good work😉😎
Hi, I've been stringing fine on this machine for about a month. But yesterday, when starting the mains, the clamp doesn't stay in place but moves when I pull the first main. I've tried cleaning the clamps, tightening the clamps but nothing works. The clamp moves along with the first main string when I pull tension on first 2 mains. Do you know what could be the problem? Thank you!
Good video. I just purchased this stringing machine and was able to finish a racket by watching the video. I have 1 question on using drop weight. After I pull tension, my strings are getting stuck in the pull tension drop weight. I then find it very hard to get them out. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
When he clamps the crosses, is he clamping two strings together, or is the clamp only clamping one string? If he is clamping them together, do you need to adjust the clamp?
Thanks for this great video. I have the same stringer but I'm having a problem mounting my pure aero into the machine. The throat C clamp does not apply pressure to the bridge because the pure aero bridge is thinner than the surrounding frame. I'm afraid the uneven pressure will damage the racquet. do you have any tips for overcoming this problem? Thanks!
I wish I had a better answer for you and I'm sure someone on here will jump on me for saying this.... I don't think you will damage the frame by just clamping it down as much as you can and then stringing it (not promising anything though!) those frames are just so strong. I have strung a few Pure Aeros but only on a electronic machine that has a better mounting system but I know what you are talking about... I would be more worried about an O-Port prince racquet breaking haha. Good luck and I wish I could be of more help!
Good basic video but one minor error. On the first cross string at the head, you went over the last two main strings (you started over and then ended over). But, good job on the video especially for someone of your age! Thanks.
Are flying clamps or the ones "attached to the machine" preferable when using a machine with a drop weight? I have a really old machine where the flying clamps aren't that good when stringing really thin strings, so I'm not sure if I should by new clamps or get a new machine. My budget pretty much limits me to Machines with a drop weight. Would love some input regarding this!!!
Just wondering some time when I pull the string the weight is not dropping as expeced and it's kinda stuck in the middle. I am hestistad to put any force to move the weight afriaid of the the strings might pop. Do you any idea for what's the reason of this happening?
You only have to leave slack at the end before pulling tension if the string is a poly or strings that do not stretch very much, otherwise don't bother.
What can i do if i can not release the string from the string gripper? Also, the string gripper is very tight when i need to readjust the tension. What can i do to fix this?
Am I doing something wrong? I've set the tension to 55 lbs and then took out my trusty Tourna Stringmeter and it read 40 lbs!! Why is there such a huge difference in tension loss? I'm applying tension the same way. Even pulled out the manual which says to first grip the string in the jaws, rotate the clutch until there isn't any slack left and then apply the drop weight until horizontal.
+anacap007 Hopefully by now you've found out what you've been doing wrong, but if you haven't this is the problem. When you're moving the weight on the pole to set the tension you want to sting at, you set it using the side of the weight CLOSESTS to the stringer. Hope this helps.
I am having the same exact problem down to literally the same lb's tried to set 55 but I get 40 I need to know if adding 5lbs to the last strings will actually help. If his is as exactly like my problem as I think its not that we are looking at the weight wrong or using the wrong side.
I believe I know what the problem is now. It could be the knots but I highly doubt it I think the clamps are not tight enough and some string slips through.
Travis Myers there is reference tension and actual tension. Your reference tension is the tension you set on the stringing machine..... say 55. The actual tension will always be a lower tension due to many factors. Please, please, please consider joining the USRSA or IART...... where you will get the worlds best training.
Buy the stringer if you are a frequent string breaker and like to tinker. It gives you more control over your playing strategy for control or power. And, it is fun for the mechanically inclinced.
Doug Maverick not only is it loose...... he also allowed the gut to unravel which will weaken the string and therefore the knot. And you SHOULD NEVER USE THE MACHINE TENSIONER TO PULL KNOTS TIGHT!
You don't have to do so many on the right side first. Just put the clamp facing the other way and you can put the other clamp next to it. It won't be right next to the frame but when you pull tension on the next mains the part that wasn't clamped down will tension.
Video great video except for the fact that you say what tension you've got it set up, but you never show how to set the tension properly. So, you've left that part of your tutorial as a guessing game.
Tense loss side racket, NOT GOOD ! Drag a bit in the string and lock the string with the awl, and do the knot, it's in the hand,, it's in the hand; If your good the two sidestring sound like a Symmetrical harp after the knot.
Wow. Please don't use an awl like that. If you prepare properly, you wouldn't need to use the awl, period. In this case, right after you tensioned your second to last mains, you could have pre-weaved your first 2 crosses, and prevented having to get the awl to "make room." Also, the knots you are using are inferior. Learn how to do a parnell knot for finishing mains and crosses. And, get yourself a starting clamp so you can avoid using starting knots all together. Please do not use your tensioner to snug up your tie offs. It's stressful for the machine, racquet, and the string. Use bent needle nose pliers or a starting clamp, or even your bare hands. Lastly, invest in some decent side cutters...tin snips are not ideal.
+Sam Friedman Yes. Check out videos from Yulitle, Mr10sStringer, drakulie, and Richard Parnell...just to name a few talented stringers who have posted a number of helpful stringing videos on CZcams. Good luck.
#1 You don't need to measure 10 feet if you are doing 2 piece stringing, just put both ends through and pull them together. #2 Sticking the loop of string out of the racket before tensioning(seen at 7:00) is just plain silly, you can easily leave slack at the tensioner much quicker and more accurately. #3 Should not be using the tensioner for knots. #4 Those knots are really ugly ... should really look up how to tie better knots. #5 When you pull slack through on crosses don't just hold your hand stationary, the idea is to move up and down to avoid pulling across the mains at a single point so the friction is spread and doesn't start a notch. #6 You never straightened your crosses as you went and as a result each cross is a little more bowed as you go.
You're right Garett, all of those points were given to me by my stringer when I was taught how to string.. i believe he had a MRT and USRSA certification, something like that
+Garett Matheis wow, i thought you would have posted a URL for your stringing video if you gave this much thought to criticizing this one.. He took a very basic machine and video'd a basic stringing job.. I thought it was pretty decent all things considered.
I still remember watching this video when i first started with a drop weight machine. Super helpful!
One of the better vids on yt- clear as day - thanks !!
Very useful video, thanks for posting it.
Fantastic. You helped me through my first racket. Thank you!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Dude you did a great job with this tutorial. I have seen several videos and yours is the best. Thanks for the video.
Thank you!
I liked this video, even though I have an electronic machine. Basic same principles. My son and I watched so many other videos and ended up getting lost and confused. I think you did a great job, man!
Thanks!
thank you for the great video, just completed my first stringing
Thanks for the video, I'm new to stringing racquets.
Very well made video, thanks for your time !
This tutorial is very informative. Thanks for posting!
Thank you I'm glad you liked it!

Your video is awesome...have same stringing machine and completed my first Babolat stringing following your instruments...
I hope in the past year you have strung many more racquets!
Incredibly helpful video. Thank you for making and sharing it. I watched it all the way through and then I strung my first racket today. I really appreciate the way you covered everything and left nothing for me to guess at. Nice job!
Thanks for the video man. Was hugely helpful.
I'm glad it could help!
Thank you, now I understand it. The other videos on the subject did not communicate the info & logic of stringing clearly.
Nathan Haber very funny comment!
Great tutorial! First racquet done!
Awesome!! I hope the past year you have strung many racquets! :)
Thanks! Great video.
Best explanation ever.
Thanks, was very helpful
Just got my first stringer today
And this is the only tutorial that actually helped me get through it all, start to finish!
Thnx Bro!
Thanks! That is why I made this video because I had such a hard time figuring it out, so I am glad I could help you out!
omg thank you so much for your video i have strungling with my stringing machine for the longest time!
it was a best beginner's tutorial!! Can you demo on a Wilson Burn racquet please?
Thank you!!
Helpful! Thanks!
Glad we could help!
I never comment on CZcams. But thanks for the vid. Finished my first one today.
What’s the average time to start and finish a racket? Thinking about buying one as a beginner. I’ve never strung before
Great video! It helped me a lot personally and I will be helping a lot of people because of this video! who are these haters? I'm with the comment from "rx" down there aha.
Camera guy: don't quit your day job to become a cameraman.
Great vid man. Is there a way to pull tension on the first 2 mains using an additional starting clamp as opposed to pulling tension on the 3rd main?
Good job.Made it look simple. When he clamps the crosses, is he clamping two strings together, or is the clamp only clamping one string? If he is clamping them together, do you need to adjust the clamp?
Forgot to mention that by making that error (below), the top two cross strings are strung exactly the same when they should be exactly the opposite.
I Like this video
Thanks!

How much total tension do you lose when you pull tension on two strings in the beginning on both sides?
How much tension loss does the flying clamps have. Do you set the tension higher on the drop weight do compensate?
Good basic video but one minor error. On the first cross string at the head, you went over the last two main strings (you started over and then ended over). But, good job on the video especially for someone of your age! Thanks.
Hi, thanks for this video
Is the stringing machine a CB-3?
Do you need to try to level the weight if it already falls level by itself?
Are flying clamps or the ones "attached to the machine" preferable when using a machine with a drop weight? I have a really old machine where the flying clamps aren't that good when stringing really thin strings, so I'm not sure if I should by new clamps or get a new machine. Use thicker string if the clamps do not tighter enough or buy new clamps.
I like the players who are playing a Head Racket with Wilson Overgrip (y)
yonex is the best
I'll use a Prince vibration dampener too! haha
For 50 lbs, should the TOP or BOTTOM of the Drop Weight line up with the 50 on the Bar Line? THANKS!!
Just wondering some time when I pull the string the weight is not dropping as expeced and it's kinda stuck in the middle. I am hestistad to put any force to move the weight afriaid of the the strings might pop. Do you any idea for what's the reason of this happening?

I have the same racquet
help my racket keeps slipping off the mount when I tension first main
I did not tighten the screw for the mounts
:/ i cant find out how to put the string in the string jaws its so annoyying
hello, is it a self-clamping manual machine or is this device better, thanks?
What can i do if i can not release the string from the string gripper?
Also, the string gripper is very tight when i need to readjust the tension. What can i do to fix this?
If you're referring to the clamps, they should be able to be loosened with a knob at the bottom. But I don't know.
Using this method, there is no way the center mains can be at the correct tension.
I thought the same , is there a solution to this problem ?
What if your only using one string?
is this a GAMMA Progression 2 ? and can I just do the mains only.
How much should I pay for a used one?
Am I doing something wrong? I've set the tension to 55 lbs and then took out my trusty Tourna Stringmeter and it read 40 lbs!! Why is there such a huge difference in tension loss? I'm applying tension the same way. +anacap007 when you do the last 2 mains and last cross add 4lbs to the last strings
+anacap007 Hopefully by now you've found out what you've been doing wrong, but if you haven't this is the problem. When you're moving the weight on the pole to set the tension you want to sting at, you set it using the side of the weight CLOSESTS to the stringer. Hope this helps.

Main 20 feet
You should not use the dropweight to tighten the strings...
Your second third forth are not tensioned correctly
...
And slack does not matter
You want it tight but not to tighten

This is a hack job
did this guy voice Kermit the frog?
this is a realy bad method.
the first 2 strings in the middle you gave zero kp
There are so many bad habits and incorrect information I really suggest looking for a better video if you are learning to string.
