Then the mask comes and the bully tries to rip it off, thinking it was just a dumb trick, and they fail. You on the other hand, rip it off happily and painfully, the blood pours everywhere, confusing and greatly scaring them. Then you, glad you awakened, fucking blast them with Agi. They burn but you put them out to say it was self defense, after that you realize your Persona can fly, so you start sniping bullies on top of them, making sure they won’t die tho, just feel extremely hurt.

Makoto has the highest pain tolerance I think out of all the thieves. Like most everyone is brought to their knees with how painful their persona awakening is (Exceptions with the protagonist cuz he’s being held upright). But makoto doesn’t fall, she breaks the fucking concrete. She’s so goddamn cool

@inari From what i've heard, Satanael is from Gnosticism (based off Christianity but not considered canon). Basically, it's about this entity named Demiurge/Yaldabaoth (yes, the one that Persona 5's is based off) who takes the place of God in the Old Testament (to explain why God in the Old Testament was harsher than in the New Testament), but isn't actually God himself. Yaldabaoth created the world, but isn't the true ruling God, but rather poses as God during the Old Testament. Satanael's role is to get rid of Yaldabaoth and make way for the real God and the New Testament (which may also be why Satanael is given the "ael" suffix, which is associated with angels). Again, in Gnosticism, Yaldabaoth and God are not the same. Yaldabaoth is a harsh and power-hungry controlfreak who poses as God, where as the real God is the kinder version from the New Testament. Satanael is basically a transition phase from Lucifer to Satan. Satanael is a fallen angel, but gets rid of Yaldabaoth to make way for God. Also keep in mind that Gnosticism isn't considered canon to Christianity, in normal Christianity, Yaldabaoth and Satanael do not exist as far as i know.
The most badass awakening will always be the main character's in my opinion. Nothing tops being engulfed in huge blue flames with your inner demon laughing at your enemies and then swatting them away like flies.

I always loved that the personas were voiced by the same VAs as their characters, it really emphasizes the themes and the idea that the personas are a part of them as well as giving the voice actors a fun little chance to flex
I’m pretty sure Carmen stepping on a guy and having another on a leash symbolizes her resolve to be dominant. Not in the sexual way, it’s more like her resolve to be super strong meta verse and real life wise

If you relisten to Arsene's awakening speech, he was always referring to Satanael. "Vow to me. I am thou, thou art I...Thou who art willing to perform all sacrilegious acts for thine own justice! Call upon my name, and release thy rage! Show the strength of thy will to ascertain all on thine own, though thou be chained to Hell itself!" Talk about some Foreshadowing.
They knew...they just didn't want to admit that/come to grips with what was happening to them/around them. Like in Yusuke's case, he knew that Madarame was claiming Yusuke's works as his own, but he didn't want to say anything due to the fact that Madarame was like a father figure to him. Ann kept blaming herself for being so weak in caving in to Kamoshida's demands (mostly due to someone else's life hanging in the balance, and the one time she refused, a friend almost died)
I would like to point out that Necronomicon having a rather soothing voice fit's Futaba's struggle. She needed someone who would help comfort her and reinforce that the thing in front of her is an illusion that was made up of lies and that's exactly what her persona did. It didn't even make the awakening painful, weird yes, but it was always gentle with her.
Futabas pre-awakneing scene makes me cry all the time. Then her awakening happens and all I can think is "I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going"

Makoto has the highest pain tolerance I think out of all the thieves. Like most everyone is brought to their knees with how painful their persona awakening is (Exceptions with the protagonist cuz he’s being held upright). But makoto doesn’t fall, she breaks the fucking concrete. She’s so goddamn cool
idk, seeing Yusuke literally claw at the ground to scrape the skin off of his fingertips is pretty agonizing, and then he just flings that mask off like no one's business...
After the initial blast the protagonist isn’t being held upright anymore. Just straight up summons his persona after ripping his mask off and grins like the devil

@inari From what i've heard, Satanael is from Gnosticism (based off Christianity but not considered canon). Basically, it's about this entity named Demiurge/Yaldabaoth (yes, the one that Persona 5's is based off) who takes the place of God in the Old Testament (to explain why God in the Old Testament was harsher than in the New Testament), but isn't actually God himself. Yaldabaoth created the world, but isn't the true ruling God, but rather poses as God during the Old Testament. Satanael's role is to get rid of Yaldabaoth and make way for the real God and the New Testament (which may also be why Satanael is given the "ael" suffix, which is associated with angels).
Again, in Gnosticism, Yaldabaoth and God are not the same. Yaldabaoth is a harsh and power-hungry controlfreak who poses as God, where as the real God is the kinder version from the New Testament. Satanael is basically a transition phase from Lucifer to Satan. Satanael is a fallen angel, but gets rid of Yaldabaoth to make way for God. Also keep in mind that Gnosticism isn't considered canon to Christianity, in normal Christianity, Yaldabaoth and Satanael do not exist as far as i know.

The most badass awakening will always be the main character's in my opinion. Nothing tops being engulfed in huge blue flames with your inner demon laughing at your enemies and then swatting them away like flies.

Makoto is truly brilliant. The others before her needed a bit of pushing to rebel, but she was ready for it. She was ready to prove herself and turn back on who she was and stand up to those horrid adults. And the way she just accepted her Persona so wholeheartedly. She didn't fight against Johanna, she fully wanted to awaken, and because she accepted her so confidently, she literally destroyed concrete with her resolve! That paired with her development arc and the way Sae and Ann and the others had been treating her makes such a powerful spectacle that gives me goosebumps each time without fail!

I like how when they awaken their Persona they suddenly know what's going on
They knew...they just didn't want to admit that/come to grips with what was happening to them/around them. Like in Yusuke's case, he knew that Madarame was claiming Yusuke's works as his own, but he didn't want to say anything due to the fact that Madarame was like a father figure to him. Ann kept blaming herself for being so weak in caving in to Kamoshida's demands (mostly due to someone else's life hanging in the balance, and the one time she refused, a friend almost died)

I would like to point out that Necronomicon having a rather soothing voice fit's Futaba's struggle. She needed someone who would help comfort her and reinforce that the thing in front of her is an illusion that was made up of lies and that's exactly what her persona did. It didn't even make the awakening painful, weird yes, but it was always gentle with her.

Can we just stop to take a good 45 minutes to appreciate how well the dub sounds? I started the game in English by mistake because I usually prefer the Japanese voice actors in anime/games. But the English cast KILLED it. All of their scenes give me goosebumps. I'm really happy I played this in English
