Purcell in the past has been a doubles-specialty player but in the 2023 season, he transitioned more to singles, which is also why you see him s/v so much. He had a great 2023 season.
We’ll be seeing more of him, especially on grass.
Probably the best match of the AO open so far. Purcell certainly brings a lot of excitement with his beautiful classic style game.

This was some insane tennis. What's great was that even though the serve was basically each other's most important tool this match, the games didn't feel stale.
Happy for Casper and his perseverance. Max's ranking is much too low for the talent he has.

I love Purcell His use of the volley is so effective more players should copy him!
@thomasdussault1132 Max does it the right way, unlike (Maxime) Cressy, who doesn't have much of a ground game, so either aces or rushes into net with no real game plan. Purcell has a good ground game, and his careful incorporation of approaches/volleys just makes it all that much better.

Are they foot faults from Purcell on the Ad court serves? Looks like foot crosses the centre mark before contact with the ball.. freeze frame and look.that’s my understanding of rule?
Ruud needs to be the aggressor in every point. Even though he's quick he's not a counterpuncher and has trouble being on the defensive, and really struggles against players who can continually apply pressure on him.
