    Real name Elisabeth Dubsky. Studied at the Dresden Music Academy and with the teacher Vera Littner. She made her debut in 1950 at the Saxon State Theatre Dresden-Radebeul as Ännchen in 'Freischütz' and in 1952 came to the Plauen Municipal Theatre, where she had her first great success as Mimi in 'La Bohème'. In 1956 she sang the same part as an inaugural role at the Dresden State Opera, of which she was a member until 1961. From 1959 she was a regular guest at the Komische Oper Berlin, whose ensemble she joined in 1961. Guest at the operas in Leningrad and Brno, in 1965 at the Royal Opera Stockholm as Rosina in 'The Barber of Seville', in 1972 at the Berlin State Opera. She has performed on stage in roles in the lyrical coloratura and soubrette repertoire, including Pamina in The Magic Flute, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Rosina in Rossini's The Barber of Seville and in the opera of the same name (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) by Paisiello, the title role in Handel's Deidamia, Jenufa in the well-known opera by Janac|vek and Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream by Benjamin Britten. She has also performed successfully as an operetta singer and in the concert hall.

    She appeared at the Berlin State Opera between 1960 and 1977, among others, as Marzelline in "Fidelio", 9 times as Sophie in "Rosenkavalier", 2 times as Woglinde in "Rheingold", 7 times as Madame Butterfly, as Marie in "The Bartered Bride" and as " Pamina" in "The Magic Flute". Her other roles included Donna Elvira in "Don Giovanni", the title roles in Handel's "Deidamia" and Janacek's "Jenůfa" as well as Titania in Britten's "Midsummer Night's Dream". She also appeared in operettas, for example as Julia in "Der Vetter aus Dingsda". She was also a much sought-after concert and song singer.
