versus the Re202 Space Echo czcams.com/video/_D029wC1ci8/video.html
Nice presentation. As I already have an RV500, I don't really need the RE202. This Dm 101 is another story. I never knew what to do with the 5-pin Midi din on my RV500, but with Delay, I think synchronisation is important for a set with rhythms, although it's a shame this new pattern contrasts with everything else in my set. Maybe it'll work with my JDXA and Circuit Tracks.
Modulated stereo modes sound absolutely spectacular on this thing!
really nice sounds out of that. the modulation feature is great. seems like it would be good for making dubs
NIce to see a bit of new kit that actually has character (rather than just faults.)
I wish this were full stereo
Same for the price they should have made it full stereo
I always thought the Moogerfooger analog delay was probably the holy grail… and then Boss said “hold my beer”…. I don’t know what’s left to be done in analog delay world after this!
Thanks Starsky, Sounds great ! & with this and the new tape echo version Boss/Roland do seems a bit of a role. Personally my favourite effect is chorus so guess I’m hoping they do a maybe bit of a cut down version that’s stereo in& out that’s focused on Chorus (.. then maybe I can retire my pretty noisy ce300s😉)
Thanks for clarifying in detail that it can handle line level signals...
You do have to be a little careful… but I’ve only noticed once people had mentioned it tbh. Playing a loud piano chord for example would need care, but then again I suspect any pedal would.
@@StarskyCarr my first ever delay back in 80s was an Echopet EP-50 BBD delay. It had a switch to change line level inputs. Noisy as hell too. I guess this Boss is quite quiet?
@@StarskyCarr the only other pedal I've had trouble with concerning limited headroom was an EHX Memory Man, it was the version with the sought after BBD chips in it... I ran a Ken MacBeth M3X through it, this synth is a 3 oscillator analogue monster monosynth, loosely based on a Minimoog...I actually sold the Memory Man for quite good money a few months back, don't regret it, tbh. I had a spare vintage Boss micro rack RDD-10 which the M3X now goes through, sounds much better than the M3X, to my ears anyway.
It sounds awesome I have an old Yamaha Rs7000 sampling groove box
Which has a peculiar but a fantastic type of delay generator called
Midi delay its not really your typical delay effect it works by adding
delayed midi notes to your original piece of music at your required
time like any other delay but its all done by midi so its not sampling
or splitting and delaying and adding, it creates more midi notes and
offsets them to your original piece it basically sounds like you
have played the piece of music and the delay, you can also
pitch the delay to any note you like in semitones maybe at a 5th
or an octave and because its not sampling or using any of the other
techniques you don't get the drawbacks like degradation aliasing
changes of the length of a sample due to pitching and time stretch
artifacts etc etc.
Its the best sounding way of generating delays that i have ever
come across there,s nothing like it and it will work on anything
with a midi connection from a drum machine to any vst.
I have a 101! It’s great
Interesting. I’ve been really happy with my Asheville Music Tools ADG-1, but this seems like it’s going in a different direction. More like a delay workstation - 8 bbds is crazy!
Nice vintage Roland look to it
Nice!!
Thanks!
Yeah, good idea ... please "some Elvis singing" from Starsky Carr.
Thanks for the presentation, wonderful sounds coming out of this pedal. So how hot can the signal actually get without (real) distortion?
Thanks for a great demo! Can it be set fully wet? wanna use it as an FX send on my mixer but can't find anything about this in the manual...
I'd be keen to hear your thoughts on the new MN3005x2 BBD delay by Electronic Audio Experiments - Sending v2. I think the added tone shaping options could be considered a more nuanced and flexible version of the drive circuits in the Mooger Foogers.
I'll see if I can get hold of one.
@@StarskyCarr Awesome!
What Rhodes software are you playing?
Anyone know what type of midi adapter this adheres to? Korg style? Just trying to get clock into it. Type A or B?
Did you miss Ambience mode?
Can anyone confirm this deals with line-level signals ok? Seems ok as we can hear synths used but just thought i'd ask.
Can you assign a filter to the knob? Is the filter any good? Cheers mate
Oh it’s only mono in: damn 😢
Can it be a analogue reverb, I just want to build a all analog FX chain, chorus, delay and reverb included. or better get a spring tank for analog reverb?
Theres a reverb style mode… called reflect. It’s not bad but take a listen.
@@StarskyCarr Oh I think the Ambience and reflect is just a BBD reverb.
@@lyh1 yea it is… sorry I thought that’s what you were asking
It's a nice thing to be sure but the lack of tonal control is a bit disappointing. A bit of simple Low and Hi cut would have gone a long way
I thought that at first until I pulled out my moogerfooger which is the same - no EQ of any description. It was only then I realised I’d never missed it.
How do I connect my synth stereo output to this thing?
You don't. It's mono. You'll have to run your synth as mono, or buy two lol.
buying 2 is the way! This is cool played with the moogerfooger .. a ridiculously expensive setup!!
BBD is bucket brigade delay, and not “bucket brigade devices”, am I right?
Can be either, but strictly speaking its a device. just so happens that used in a delay the D can be swapped... rolandcorp.com.au/blog/boss-talk-bbd
It’s unfortunate they didn’t make it with stereo inputs.
it would make patching some stuff easier, even if it summed to mono internally,
@@StarskyCarr I’d love to run my OB-X8 through it, if it were a full stereo signal.
@@PacificIslandDrivebuy two of them?
I thought this thing couldn’t really handle synth levels for stuff. Made for guitars only kinda thing
Seems OK to me. You can’t put anything too hot into it… but then again you can’t with lots of stuff. I’ve tried with my guitars as well and there’s no difference.
A passive reamp box is a worthy investment for anyone who wants to get into pedals. I need to get a second JCR Reamp box for stereo situations (I haven't found a stereo reamp with a single knob for gain so two mono reamps ends up working the same).
listen on headphones and you'll hear how many times the signal overloaded! awful sounds every now and then. scares me enough that i'd probably get myself a reamp like mvsr990 mentioned.
I run synths into the Waza BBD devices... and yeah, it is easy to distort with hot synths. But i simply turn down until it sounds like i like (or leave it hot, and use the grit). And that is the charm of BBD devices. You dont get this leeway with most digital boxes. But yeah, also, the Radial reamp box is so perfect for synths > guitar pedals.
interpretation errors in the transcript are funny! 😉
ah ha.... so they are. I've just edited the more obvious ones... Roads not Rhodes all the way through!
hatch instead of patch, sign vs sine. quite amusing... 😉
@@videomove you just can't trust AI to get anything right!!
I challenge the houseplant. The constant movement drives me crazy.😳
haha me too... I wish I'd picked a smaller one. It was holding leads back, so functional but annoying!
lfo rate cv in?
no the pedal input is for switching memories or tap tempo.
@@StarskyCarrcould you try to send a Eurorack clock into the pedal in…? Would it clock the delay? Thank you!
interesting a bit pricey!
Yeah thats the cost of 8 analog BBDs I guess.
It sounds awesome, but at over 500 euros you can't call it cheap. maybe I'm spoiled with all the Behringer stuff :)
No you are right, 500 Is Crazy , bbd delays for way less and sound better
@@andivax First , this delay affects your signal by applying a filter and you cant change, bbd delays dont equalize your signal
Second 12 modes lol
Stereo Is pretty common
@@vegettoblue8705Stereo? Where, I want one.
@@vegettoblue8705 he asked you a question and you never answered, which ones have the same features?
@@andivaxThere are analogue bucket brigade delays for less than 100 dollars though. Is this 5 times better?
