Speaking as a player of the "electric twanger" this is utterly awesome! Great drumming, great inventiveness - kudos!
One of the cool things about this is a lot of haters always comment “but can you create your own music” when they are commenting on these young artists videos. This proves that she has the skills to not only flawlessly play a “cover” of a song, she can completely make up her own stuff in context of a song.
I believe a bit of that comes from the fact they are nostalgia baiting old music for more views. I don't need to see yet 'another' cover of any songs I grew up with while most every band in bars covered them already a thousand times. An egg is an egg no matter how you cook it :P "Show me something new" gets harder as time goes on and things get broken down to their base components. This becomes a problem with any discipline looking for that next advancement.
The half-time with the cowbell towards the end created such a tension and lead up to the finale. It actually created a stronger punch to the ending. She was brilliant on this track. And at her age, it's just unbelievable.

@@cripdyke and when she played with Chad smith. She has that Grohl vibe, heavy hitting but like a walking click track.
I like the fact that Drumeo and Nandi's instructor(s) are pushing her. It is obvious that she is crazy talented. That's why it is so important to challenge her, but keep it fun! Congrats to her for continuing her amazing musical journey! Respect.
She did amazingly well, even got a lot of the cowbell parts right. I like her version, I always thought the song needed more cowbell...every song needs more cowbell.

Thanks for your analysis. Watching Nandi's vidoes got me more interested in rock drumming as a long time rock listener, who had little knowledge of drumming. I first saw Nandi with Chad from the Chili Peppers and I was struck by her awesome personality and talent. You can tell she is a one in a million. For some reason, she reminded me of my niece, who is young and a rock n roll lover (who is learning the bass)! It's so great to see young people loving the classics. I hope she retains her genuiness and enthusiasm as she makes her way into the professional rock world.

She seems to have evolved a lot in a short time. She’s becoming more methodical and technical…more composed. And IMHO, you can hear the results.

Mark Metcalf as Doug Niedermeyer from Animal House, if not for him in this and the I Wanna Rock videos Twisted Sister wouldn't have been as huge as they were in '84. Tim Burton wanted them to do a cameo in Pee Wee's Big adventure after seeing the videos, unfortunately they didn't wear the make-up and went with the denim/leather look of their You Can't Stop Rock N Roll album from '83 for their fake Burn In Hell video shoot in the movie.

Believe it, or not, lead singer Dee Snider wrote a Christmas song, recorded by someone named Celine Dion. According to Google The Great, the song titled "The Magic Of Christmas Day (God Bless Us Everyone)" sold around 14 million copies, worldwide. I think, not sure, but Nandi may be the only minor that drumeo invites to their studio. If anyone knows another then please let me know and share the link as this girl may be the one to get more young drummers noticed or inspires a bunch of youngsters to get their parents to buy them a drum set. that would be cool!! Nandi is a beast and a very hard worker.

I used to do just that, make up my own drum tracks for songs, kinda like what Lars does in concert, but I did it after I learned the song the normal way. I'd like to see her try something with more energy like Accept's Fast As A Shark.

@@ChurchOfTheHolyMho Both videos feature Mark Metcalf playing Doug Niedermeyer as the father, he was one of the main antagonists in the movie Animal House. That whole "Is that a Twisted Sister pin on your uniform!?" comes from the scene with Flounder who wore a pledge pin on his cadet uniform just before Hoover hits the horse with a golf ball and bucking Doug into the mud. Doug Niedermeyer was said to have been killed by his own troops in Vietnam, it was a shock to see it was a case of mistaken identity.

Animal House definitely had some really funny scenes / situations in it.
I listened to a behind the scenes documentary in the background (while doing housework), and my 2 funniest takewaways (if I heard correctly) was a) before shooting started, the actors crashed an actual frat party and were beaten up in a fight, and b) Kevin Bacon could never convince anyone he was in the film. haha
@@ChurchOfTheHolyMho Kevin Bacon had one of the funniest scenes, "Thank you sir. May I have another?" as he's getting his ass paddled. That always makes me laugh. Plus I need Animal House to play 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon, it's the quickest way, 4 Degrees of Kevin Bacon, to get to Bernard Lee who played M in the Bond films from '62-'79. Kevin and Karen Allen are in Animal House, Karen was in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull with Harrison Ford who was in Last Crusade with Sean Connery, Sean was the first Bond in 1962's Dr. No with Bernard Lee as M.

If she lost time once or twice after a big fill, that’s ok by me. You have to consider that a) she’d never heard this song before, b) she had to come up with her own drum part, and c) this was her first full take. Effectively it was a live, impromptu performance and all the more amazing for that. Plus the fact that she didn’t fall to pieces when she lost time - just recovered like a professional. I find that impressive. And knowing Nandi, if she had the time and opportunity, she’d practice and practice and refine the drum part until it was perfect. After all, this isn’t the drum Olympics - just Nandi having fun, trying things out, and producing something really worth watching and listening to.

I would like that you make a distinction between commercial videos and real drumming - as in single take live recordings.
The difference between real drumming and edited videos is huge. Drumeo composes videos from multiple takes in their studio.
That is kind of cheating and fools the viewers to believe that what they see is really happening in reality.
