Lecco is a city of approximately 47,000 inhabitants in Lombardy, Northern Italy, 50 kilometres north of Milan. It lies at the end of the south-eastern branch of Lake Como (the branch is named Branch of Lecco / Ramo di Lecco). The Bergamo Alps rise to the north and east, cut through by the Valsassina of which Lecco marks the southern end.
The lake, narrows to form the River Adda, so bridges were built to improve road communications with Como and Milan.
Lecco was also Alpine Town of the Year in 2013.
Known for being the place where the writer Alessandro Manzoni set The Betrothed, the city is located in one of the vortices of the Larian Triangle. It overlooks the eastern branch of Lake Como and is included in the Orobic Prealps, between the Grigne mountain chain and the Resegone.
Lecco è una città di circa 47.000 abitanti della Lombardia, nel Nord Italia, a 50 chilometri a nord di Milano. Si trova all'estremità del ramo sud-orientale del Lago di Como (il ramo è denominato Ramo di Lecco/Ramo di Lecco). A nord e ad est si ergono le Alpi Orobie, tagliate dalla Valsassina di cui Lecco segna l'estremità meridionale.
Il lago, si restringe fino a formare il fiume Adda, per questo furono costruiti dei ponti per migliorare le comunicazioni stradali con Como e Milano.
Lecco è stata anche Città Alpina dell'Anno nel 2013.
Nota per essere il luogo in cui lo scrittore Alessandro Manzoni ambientò I Promessi Sposi, la città si trova in uno dei vortici del Triangolo Lariano. Si affaccia sul ramo orientale del Lago di Como ed è compreso nelle Prealpi Orobiche, tra la catena delle Grigne e il Resegone.

Es liegt am Ende des südöstlichen Zweigs des Comer Sees (der Zweig heißt Branch of Lecco / Ramo di Lecco). Im Norden und Osten erheben sich die Bergamo-Alpen, durchzogen vom Valsassina, dessen südliches Ende Lecco markiert.
Der See verengt sich und bildet den Fluss Adda. Daher wurden Brücken gebaut, um die Straßenverbindungen mit Como und Mailand zu verbessern.
Lecco war 2013 auch Alpenstadt des Jahres.
